Sandboxie v3.26 Incl. Keymaker-EMBRACE
EMBRACE group released new version of this popular and useful application - Sandboxie.
Description: Tired of dealing with rogue software, spyware and malware? Tired of spending countless hours removing unsolicited software?
Try Sandboxie.
When you run a program on your computer, data flows from the hard disk to the program via read operations. The data is then processed and displayed, and finally flows back from the progam to the hard disk via write operations.

For example, if you run the Freecell program to play a game, it starts by reading the previously recorded statistics, displaying and altering them as you play the game, and finally writing them back to disk for future reference.
Sandboxie changes the rules such that write operations do not make it back to your hard disk.

The illustration shows the key component of Sandboxie: a transient storage area, or sandbox. Data flows in both directions between programs and the sandbox. During read operations, data may flow from the hard disk into the sandbox. But data never flows back from the sandbox into the hard disk.
If you run Freecell inside the Sandboxie environment, Sandboxie reads the statistics data from the hard disk into the sandbox, to satisfy the read requested by Freecell. When the game later writes the statistics, Sandboxie intercepts this operation and directs the data to the sandbox.
If you then run Freecell without the aid of Sandboxie, the read operation would bypass the sandbox altogether, and the statistics would be retrieved from the hard disk.
The transient nature of the sandbox makes it is easy to get rid of everything in it. If you were to throw away the sandbox, by deleting everything in it, the sandboxed statistics would be gone for good, as if they had never been there in the first place.

Hi! I don´t mean to spam but I´m just wondering why this hasn´t been posted here on RLSlog yet? I haven´t DL it myself but it seems legit according to comments: Prom.Night.DVDSCR.XviD-hECTOR. Anyone seen it?

I was interested in this when I first ran across it a few years ago. I too am concerned at the impact it has on system performance. Anyone have experience they can share?
Thanks
T
Hey this isn’t some big company that is getting screwed by this release, but one guy, a small time developer that has made an awesome product. Sandboxie is free to use and you don’t need no license for it…… but if you like it, consider donating to the guy who made it because if ya’ll pirate it, then he won’t have any money left to develop it. And the developer needs to eat too.
Bought a license last year after trying this out. Great little tool for testing unknown program etc…will stop your computer getting screwed.

R U high like me because I hope so…..do not do it again, wrong place, wrong topic guya……. pAbLo
sounds pretty pointless to me but i am sure some would disagree
I have been using sandboxie for the past month or two now (dl’d as freeware from the official website). It doesn’t seem to slow down my system at all. I don’t run every program sandboxed, just my web browser (Opera FTW). The only slow down I notice is the initial startup for the sandbox program. Once you have it up and running though, it takes no system resources, and internet speeds are the same as always.
Still use anti-spyware programs of course, but they haven’t found anything, so Sandboxie seems to work.
And you guys should dl it from their official site (http://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?DownloadSandboxie), not from here.
This program is great! I use it nearly every day! There is no real noticeable impact on system performance!

You can surf the net using this without the need of an av.I still use an av &use sandboxie only when i go to the :dark Places and to run keygens”:-)Get yourself a good download manager run your webbrowser sandboxed go to any warez site download all keygens and run them in total safety in sandboxie. If u are a geek you can play with malware as it can’t write to the registry.Install the same in the same time in 2 different sandboxes to see which crack works ok without the game beeing installed to the real pc.Some apps can be runn as unlimited trial since they don’t see the sandbox.Of course not all things can be installed in sandboxie but this is a great tool. The free version won’t let u use only 1 sandbox at 1time after 1month and it will display an annoying nag screen. These are some of the features of this great app. Thanks Release log and Embrace.
* At this time, Sandboxie does not support Windows Vista 64-bit
* On 64-bit Windows XP, you must remove Windows Update KB932596 before installing Sandboxie.
Windows Update KB932596 is a kernel protection update. Removing it for such a dubiously practical program doesn’t seem to be worth it.
Forgot to include the link (x64 compatibility): http://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?WindowsVista64
I meant install the same game twice in the same time .Bob you are right about the author of the program, but the nag screen is horrible.I respect him but he didn’t respect the free users with the nag.I mean i probably buy this as it will help me and is very useful for me but i don’t need the 5 seconds nag to remind me that.
@16 - virtumonde “I still use an av &use sandboxie only when i go to the :dark Places” by DARK PLACES you probably mean ass
right?
Yo kicker, insulting is forbidden!!! Am I right?
Those that are asking if this application affects system performance probably don’t not understand completely how it works. It does not sandbox your entire system, rather when you think something harmful may come of browsing a particular section of the Internet, running a keygen that appears sketchy, or think an app may be bugged. You can right click it and choose to ‘Run Sandboxed’. At that point, the sandbox isolates the app and only give it read access to the OS, whatever it has to write is placed in isolated pseudo-folders created as they are needed in order to mock up the real OS’s structure. The only slowdown you experience is when the program has to create the mock file structure for the sandboxed program to write to; a delay that is nearly negligible. Afterward, the sandbox can be deleted.
@16
Sandboxie is not a replacement for anti-virus programs. All programs can still access your computer and transfer information from it. Passwords etc. can still be stolen if you run something.
It’s of course much safer than running it without Sandboxie… but I’m just saying don’t think your 100% safe because you use it. It was not designed to be on purpose.
Kikcker you wasted a good chance to shut up.You posted 2 comments and make me post another for nothing. What a Lamer
Great Software!! Thank’s!

Cim i have a software firewall,i’m relying on that if something inside sandbox want’s to do something.I use also Process explorer all the time ,and i’m quite aware of what runs inside the sandbox. You are right probably it’s no a replacement only a useful addon, but the time of signature av’s has gone IMO,they can’t protect good against 0 day threats.
I like fairys.
anyone else gets frequent timeouts when visitng rlslog? yeah, great tool. course, if ur bothered by the nag screen, there are cracks for it.

Im also getting frequent time outs during the day.
As for the program i will give it a try. Seems useful for keygens and because i agree with Bob if i like it i will buy it and i will download the proggy from the official page. I hope othersw ill do the same. Thanks for the post.
Seems a fine program, but i test software and stuff in a virtual machine first, but i will try this
Heh.. it’s practically safe to run all questionable soft in a virtual machine. And NOT so safe with this program. Don’t need it.
I’m with Nit on this one. Used it for an hour. Reboots painfully slow due to it, and once removed it blocked my browsers until I removed every trace of it from the registry. Free or not, it’s useless and proprietary.
avoid #26. It’s spyware that tries to take over your browser.
@Firefox users: makes the browser crash and many extensions dont work anymore. Perhaps it’s just me but prolly not.
Thanks..Much appreciated
awesome program. no adverse effects on system performance and @#36 the program works seamlessly with firefox on my vista laptop
do you know a good alternative for x64 operating system since Sandboxie does not support windows xp x64 anymore? TY
