Sales of Xbox 360 doubled in Japan
Sales of the Xbox 360 have doubled in the space of a week in Japan, according to data from Media Create. Last week Microsoft’s box had sold 7,983 units in the region, yet new data shows that sales for this week have climbed to 15,474. This boost was in part due to the new Square Enix RPG Last Remnant, which scored a 38/40 in Famitsu and went on to sell 101,543 units in its first week. This week’s sales rate puts further consideration on how Microsoft is trying to invigorate its Japanese audience. Again, it is closing the gap between itself and Sony’s Playstation 3, which sold 17,436 units.
That PS3 sales figure is nearly identical to its sales performance last week, yet the brand’s handheld unit has soared in sales; climbing from 38,153 last week to reach 61,226 PSPs sold, helped by strong sales of new release Mobile Suit Gundam: Gundam VS. Gundam. By comparison, the DSi largely sold the same volume as last week, climbing up by around 3,000 units to hit 88,843. Following news that the Nintendo Wii had surpassed 7 million units in Japan, the console’s weekly performance has taken a boost; up from 26,787 units to 35,298. This is largely due to sales of Animal Crossing: City folk, which sold 300,000 units and enters the software charts at number one.

Wii: Fun and interactive but when they’ve figured they had a successtory they overcommercialised the hack out of it, with their wii-golfclubs, tennisrackets, balance boards, fitnesspad… while the games remained of the same cartoony looking level. Fun? Sure for the first one and a half hour, then when you got your sense back you look at the other options:
Playstation 3: From all the consoles probably the one with best specifications. But, does it sound as good as it is? The answer? Yes, it is that good. So what is the problem with the PS3 then? The fact that it comes with a heavy pricetag. For that you have a nice line-up of games with great playability though, but lets wait for the price to drop first… that leaves us with the…
XBOX 360: The least hyped-up console, so it doesn’t have to live up to its expectations that much. But in fact, the line-up of games is good and the playability, looks en specs aren’t bad at all. It is probably the best value for your money at this time, and the consumers realize this. What is the perfect gift for your kids this x-mas? You give them (and yourself ofcourse, but shhh, don’t tell anyone) an Xbox 360 console.
next year, japanese xbox360 will be a choice for most of hardcore shmup players around the world. why? the top shmups are coming to xbox360, including ketsui and deathsmiles.
time to rise, microsoft. hopefully the new hardware doesnt take a short time to RROD.
The PS3 is having games dropped for it left right and centre. The PS3 is far too expensive but is a great machine but devs hate it. The 360 is starting to (buy) get games that appeal to the Japanese. RPG’s etc Final Fantasy and now it looks like the exclusive Metal Gear is coming next year as well. As said above it has a massive catalouge of good games as well. My two cents

I will never understand why xbox outsells ps3, xbox has no bluray player, ps3 does. and ps3 plays just as many games and some big exclusives that xbox doesn’t even have. it’s a no-brainer that the ps3 is the better deal, yet people keep getting brainwashed into buying xcrapboxes

ive got a ps3 and a 360 and you know what ?
after all the hype about how good this “HOME” is going to be for the ps3 and how its going make the ps3 shine.. HOME failed after i tryed it for about 30 mins (beta)
the only thing i love about the ps3 is the free online gaming and the rest of it like the dashboard is boring and the games releases are no where near as much as the 360 tbh .
as for bluray . stop talking cr4p since its not actually something i use apart from needing it for games .
every ps3 fanboy always goes on about how the ps3 has blu ray .. well im a ps3 owner and its nothing great lol
where as the 360 is cheap and cheap parts to make it yet it delivers what everybody wants .
games = great titles
dashboard = what more can i say
xboxlive = if that was free then say goodbye to any console
i own all the consoles.. but the pc. is still the king
