I installed the game fine on Vista 64, My machine is similar in spec to @92 but the game runs crap without everything low.. I am trying out a non scene patch that I found on TPB to see if any improvements

The one i linked from the chinese site is the same one that goes by the name TOAD.

What we need now is SECOND patch not the same one again.

When i extract the adrive it just has the .00* numbers i hjsplit those and i got no iso. What the hell do i do?

* General performance increase around 20%. Note that this will vary depending on the both computer specifications and game settings
* 3rd Party controller scrolling issue has been fixed
* Corrected various crashes reported across all versions
* Corrected a crash in "Drive-By" Diversion for Danish version
* Corrected a crash in "Streaking" Diversion for Spanish version
* Removed original frame cap of 32 FPS
* New variable frame cap has been implemented. This will smooth out spikes in overall frame rate
* Players may notice a small hitch when crossing into new chunks in the world. The amount of time for this has been reduced for recommended spec machines, but may still be noticeable, particularly while driving at high speeds

and completely inferior to GTA4….

where is the improvements in gta4 compared to older gta versions? other than graphics.
where is the parachute?
where are my planes?
way too little fantasy at rockstar they are boring me with gta4.

anyway back to something important.

For all those who regret d/l this game and the whinging, just get over it. At least you did not actually buy the game.

I have this game, and also found it very disappointing and completely inferior to GTA4.

My notebook specs.:
Vista x32
2gb RAM
2GHZ core2duo
Nvidia 8600m GT 512mb (modified driver). Not over-clocked.

But I must play this appauling game at 800×600 res., NOT fullscreen, low quality (as if the quality is not already bad…).

Another game which had similar setting requirements were Crysis (not WARHEAD), and Assassin's Creed (but only for a short amount of time before the notebook auto-crash-reboot).
BTW, I purchased Assassin's creed and it was still not working. Now that game lies on my table reminding me everyday that "Do not buy a game if it is not worth it or it does not work…". Waste of AUD$80.

Oh thanks, I was using the exe in the rar that contained the patch files. I didn't know I had to use the one OUTSIDE of it.

#152 Yea unfortunatly it wasnt as good as i thought, the driving got a little better and i actually saw an increase in fps but might have been my imagination
But this is still better for me, cos it was unplayable before.
Ill just wait and reinstall when theres a proper one out. , backup savegames
