Windows 7 includes a better and easier Safely Remove USB app than this, so I rather stick with that, but thanks anyway!

What's wrong with stopping the device using Win XP? Why do we need this?

    @erok713 (#8),
XP/Vista does not say what application/process is keeping a USB device occupied, this can make it an annoyance to remove a device if you're in a hurry. This app shows you what the process is so you can stop that, then remove the device.

NEVER had any trouble removing a flash drive, usb hard-drive …

Surely YOU know if the attached drive is being accessed by a program/process.
    …..

BUT ….. I NEVER shutdown windows either. i just switch power off.. AFTER.. repeat . AFTER I have closed any programs that i want the settings saved for…

Grow a pair of (sensible) Balls people….
Just pull your device out.. (when you decide its safe)

    cool things about this app:
    - you can recognized device by its name, not just drive letter like original windows app
    - you can assign shortcut to eject usb drive

I'm using this app to hide unused card reader. Normaly my card reader is shown as 4 drives in my computer, but with this app the drive shows when i put card into reader.

    new in this release:
    - Unlimited number of processes to launch
You may specify to launch any number of processes for specified event. For example you may setup launching a backup of the drive before stopping and following disomounting of a TrueCrypt volume

    - Optional command line parameters
You may pass such device parameters as drive letter, drive label, device PNP name into the process command line via parameter templates (e.g. this command line will browse a drive in Explorer on device connection: explorer.exe %DriveLetter%)

    - New events to launch programs
Now programs can be launched after device plugging, before device stopping, after device stopping and after device removing

    - Global autorun
You can setup a program to be launched not only for certain device, but for all hotplug devices in the system

Damn waste of time. I use the highly technical (beyound all of your comprehension) thing called a "hand with fingers" to grab my usb and PULL IT THE FUKE OUT OF MY COMPUTER! WOOOOT!

To all the idiot attention whores screaming "Wah, what's the point of this?", "Noobware!", and other pointless comments:

You obviously have no idea what this app does or how damned useful it is – especially if you're saddled with an USB HDD without an on-off switch…
No more hassle of unplugging/reconnecting your drives, or even flicking the on/off switch (if you're lucky enough to have one) – entirely software-controlled remounting of pretty much ANY USB peripheral. Just try it out – you may well change your opinion!

    And to the linkhunters:
Thanks for the links guys – a top piece of software! Much appreciated. \o/
