Safari for Windows: full of bugs
Researchers intensively scanning the Mac-turned-Windows browser found as many as 18 problems in its first 48 hours. A beta version of Safari 3.0, Apple’s proprietary browser that once ran exclusively on Mac computers, was made available for Windows users this Monday. This would be normally enough to start a new, massive flame war between Apple and all other users – but fans of Microsoft got a vital argument on their side: Early reports popped up within hours of the beta software going live, with security specialists claiming bugs left and right. Aviv Raff, David Maynor, and Thor Larholm first made headlines with their bug reports. However, another researcher, Tom Ferris, has claimed the most security flaws, saying he found 10 bugs in less than five minutes.
“That’s horrible, and just goes to show that they took no initiative to fuzz their own software,” said Ferris in a PC Advisor story. Even though it’s still in its first public beta form, Ferris had harsh words for Apple. “In order to have a useful beta test of a web browser people need to use it in the real world, which is ultimately exposing them to malware,” he said. In the first 24 hours after Microsoft released a beta version of Internet Explorer 7 in February 2006, users found numerous bugs. Apple is feeling more backlash from this week’s reports, though, because of the company’s long heralded tradition of providing extremely safe software. Prior to releasing the Windows beta, Apple claimed that “Apple engineers designed Safari to be secure from day one.”

Same shit for windoze softwares on mac, I tell you.
its something more than that…
its a preparation for iphone.
just like itunes for ipod.
plus, the fact that it renders exactly the same as it does on mac machines implies that it is for software(web 2.0) devs who can easily converts there internet progs to iphone softwares.
no need for specialized java devs / windows mobile devs … =]
many already existing web based applications can be used on mac yo…
safari is for something.. that can “TEST” how the program that is made on PC renders on MAC/IPHONE..
stupid reporters and critiques should think more before they make conclusion…
i meant on iphone. // web based applications can be used on iphone”
cocoa for windows api is something we should note on, not for just bugs that will be eventually fixed… plus is “BETA”
guess thats why its beta ? don´t care tho, ff ftw
after installation check for updates…There will be less bugs.
Safari for Windows sucks. Firefox is much faster. Even IE7 runs a bit faster than Safari, despite all of Apple’s claims that it’s the “fastest” browser. I doubt it will improve upon its final release.
In My Windows PC Safri doesnt shows menus
& icant even type the address.
Apple Should be more aware about these.
Any way its BETA I hope It would be great in next official release without these bugs
Here is the Screenshot of Safari in my PC

it really is faster than safari 2.0 / opera / ie6/7 / ff
under OSX… not sure about windows but yea lol it will get better..
think of ITunes + Quicktime for Windows =p time is all it matters

Most excellent, Apple. :-p
Firefox users can get Safari’s features in Firefox with these extensions:

This is apple…. they design software for Macs. Even Microsoft in all of their self-proclaimed glory has security flaws in there own IE7 and it has them even after final release. I’m am positive that when the app comes to final release it will be as stable, if not more stable(i should hope so!) then IE7. So relax, no one is forcing us to give up our precious FF.
Why the point of stating that it’s proprietary???
While it’s not as open as say FireFox, it’s sure as hell not as closed as MSIE or Opera.
While you can (and I have) download the source for all of Firefox, you can download the source for everything but the front end of Safari… See: http://developer.apple.com/opensource/internet/webkit.html So in fact it’s not completely proprietary at all. Changes made by Apple to KHTML (Konquerer rendering engine, which Apple calls Webkit) has been given back to the community…
It’s stupid that all the Apple stuff is always called proprietary, even when it’s not, and all the Microsoft stuff isn’t called proprietary, even when it is.
After all is said and done however, I’m still typing this on FF.
Also, gotta say, it works perfectly on my XP Pro box.
I already tried the version 1.0 and nobody cares about safari for windows, but now everebody is talking about this! Anyway this program have so many bugs, i used for 10 secs and then i used the delete command lol. They have many work to do.
