RZA – Digi Snacks (2008)

I’m sure anyone who is into hip hop at all needs no introduction as to who the RZA is. As the primary guiding light and producer behind the infamous Wu-Tang Clan, the man born as Robert Diggs has cemented a hip hop legacy that few can match. This is his brand new solo album, a week before it sees store shelves. This is his brand new solo release, branded under the Bobby Digital name. Haven’t given it a listen yet, but I’ve got decent expectations knowing whose involved.

Robert Diggs (born July 5, 1969), better known as RZA (pronounced /ˈɹɪzʌ/), is an American music producer, rapper, and occasional actor. A prominent figure in hip hop music, he is the de facto leader of the hip hop group Wu-Tang Clan. He has produced almost all of Wu-Tang Clan’s albums as well as many Wu-Tang solo and affiliate projects. Lately he has gained more attention for his work in films, whether it be on screen or as a composer of original film scores.

This is the brand new release from 2008 release. As ghetto super-hero Bobby Digital, The RZA has collected a fanatical fan base in addition to the Wu-heads that have remained loyal to him over the years. Digi Snacks consists of all-new panoramic productions, along w/guest production from David Banner and other side artist appearances from various Wu-Tang members

@ 9 (Gnome): Whoever says that racism or prejudice is over is either living in a fantasy world or you’re someone who is not of colour or you’ve personally never experienced this for yourself, now if you saying that commenting on racial issues in this forum is void because of the racist comments that appear here from time to time, then thats fine if not….then pull your head up from out of the sand and take a good look around because racism is alive and well.

Just skimmed thru it. It’s alright. Not one beat banger on it though. The Roots cd you guys posted on here a month ago had that one song rising down with mos def and styles P. That was a beat banger. Made me feel like I was getting ready for something, and I didn’t even know what. This cd is way tame.

lol its your rap “artists” that have turned racism into a religion -without it they wouldnt make money.

So while we all have to get up at the crack of dawn and work like slaves, you lot sit around all day complaining that no-one wants to give you a job.
And all because some dufus (like the one posted here) can wave Your money in Your face and tell you over and over that the white man is holding u down.
Laugh. no its just too sad.

So U wake up and take another look at the ordinary man. And try not to judge everyone else by your own standards.

i love how people whine and complain when hip hop or rap music is posted. if you dont like it why spend the time to complain about it just ignore it and move on if you dont like it. im sure whatever music you like someone out there calls it garbage.

anyways thanks for upping all of this, isnt this the point of rlslog? to download all types of programs, music, and movies?

    Are you kidding me chinballs?

    RZA sucks!

    He has a speech impediment, can’t rhyme, can’t write…
    And his production is sh1t!

I’m utterly shocked at the rediculous PRE-REVIEW you gave this.

    June 18th, 2008 | 08:27

@ 21, I guess we’ll agree to disagree because at the end of the day, it’s just an ill-informed and unresearched opinion by an angry “little man”, (a gnome in fact :L) standing on his little soapbox trying to get people to care about the outdated prejudiced views of a “minority”.

As for me, I’m working in I.T. making 80k a year, I grew up in a housing project in San Bernardino County, CA but even without affirmative action and handsout, I still graduated from College, so say that “my lot” wait around for jobs is laughable as I am employed full time and have been at the same job for 8 years so I guess that bucks the trend that you said that “My Lot” have been setting.

Also, I’m one never to blame “WHITE PEOPLE” for holding coloured people down even though I do say that it is a minor factor considering the racism still prevalent all across the U.S. but it’s up to the individual to go work hard to achieve success in life.

All I can say is that I hope you never have to go through some of the prejudice that I have seen and experienced in my life that you’ll continue to live in the sad cocoon of an existence you call a life.

Anyways, back to the music, I didnt like RZA’s Bobby Digital album, his best stuff production or rapping wise was always with the Gravediggaz and Wu Tang. Hopefully, this will be better.

Again, Gnome…You are entitled to your opinion but next time post it on the Spice Girls, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Backstreet Boys new releases that you probably love so much….to each their own. :D

I’m always looking in anticipation to see if they can come up with an even more pathetic, infantile album cover. The worst cover yet is still the one from the original ‘Scorpions – Virgin Killer’ album, but this one surely is also extremely ridiculous and a sign of bad taste. At least they left those mounts of dollar notes away…

Gnome, So what you’re saying is that you are young and immature and that when grown folk speak, you should shut your mouth and play with your “Tickle Me Elmo” Doll and that you don’t know what you are talking about because you’re still wearing nappies and still drinking from a sippy cup as now there’s some clarity in your all the verbal and written diarrhoea thats been coming out from your mouth and a$$.

Gnome, I respect your right to your opinion even if is distorted and askew but as I said earlier save your comments for another forum like the latest new album releases of “Jesse McCartney”, “Christina Aguilera” and the “Mamma Mia” movie soundtrack as it’s not my kinda music but I know it’s right up your alley there champ.

I have nothing further to say to you as it is obvious I am dealing with a delinquent and not someone who can converse constructively and with any real facts to back up or justify an argument, This Dialogue between us is (using your word)..OVER.

For anyone to say that racism is over, they have to be a ludicrous idiot. I’ve been on both ends of the racism spectrum. I do not judge a man , woman, or child by the color of their skins or religion they believe in. I try my best to be tolerant of all people.

However, the vast majority of Hip-hop and/or Rap teaches racism and disrespect for the female gender. So in conclusion, if you love Hip-hop or Rap, then most likely you are a racist who enjoys degrading the female gender.

@ 44: I don’t know about “hiphop” being racist but most of todays commerical rap is very sexist particularly in music videos and lyrics showing women in a derogatory and defamatory manner.

Problem, Most people today barely even listen to the lyrics but moreso to the bass bumpin’ beats/music and thats what primarily attracts todays consumers of commercial rap.

You guys saying he can’t rap are crazy, he has a unique ‘nasaly’ voice and in some songs his delivery/flow is so awesome. Unfortunately there aren’t too many of those awesome moments in this album IMO. I got kinda exited after hearing the intro and letdown after listening to the whole thing.

  50. Biggie
    June 19th, 2008 | 04:23

@ 50: Totally agree, The RZA does have a unique voice and his delivery and flow are great but I feel his best days were with the early Gravediggaz and early Wu Tang stuff he did but IMHO what it comes down to is that he’s always been first and foremost a producer first and rapper second.

racism over? you clearly dont read the boards in here, cause it is certainly alive and well and tolerated by the mods here. i emailed the mods here before, they basically told me they have no disire to “censor” there boards with some of the rediculous racist remarks that have been posted in the past (i also complained about the guy who was spoiling all the movies but i havent seen him in a long time), so i put it to a test, i went in to other genres of music and made remarks, not blantantly racist but remarks non the less and had them pulled rather quickly. i do find “others” remarks to be ignorant in an attempt to either be funny or cause a fight. im sure this post will be pulled as well, but what would you expect from moderators that posted a release from a racist heavy metal singer who was in jail for murder. i like this site, its just a shame that the mods are either oblivious or hate mongers. “others” remarks are racist and a sad attempt by an unintelligent man at humor, im guessing. rlslog grow a pair and step up.

2 for 2 RZA. I grew up loving Wu-Tang and virtually everything they put out but now I think he needs to stick to acting(the little bit he does) and soundtracks. He’s fallen off and the only way he will revive my faith is if he releases “The Cure” which has been in the works for 10 years now. Bobby Digital should have been done when he transformed Bobby D into Prince Rakeem which is a precursor to RZA. Why did you change up RZA? Prince Rakeem would have at least gave us some thought provoking music. The end of “Birth Of A Prince” gave us an insight into that type of music. Oh how you’ve screwed yourself and your fans.

Biggie and Warcloud, I totally agree with you guys on posts 49 and 50. You need to sound different and he does. Just like Goodie Mob. If you heard them speak you might laugh but they are sick when they rap. And yeah it sounds weird, but at least it’s distinct and you know who it is when you hear them. And yeah the racism in here is ridiculous. Look at that stupid sniper game and listen to all the white power idiots ranting about making games to kill jews and things like that. And every rap post some a hole is talking about how rap isn’t music and black people should shut up and grow up already. This site is a bit ridiculous with all that…. But at least they have some good posts and info so I look past it…
