Ronin 1998 1080p BluRay x264-WPi

After the amazing 720p release of this movie, WPi bring us the 1080p version. I’ll stick with the 720p myself, but for those of you that want and can get this, I suggest you do.

Quality: I guess its sort of pointless to even talk about whether the quality on this is good, as its as good as it gets. Great bitrate for the video along with the 1080p res and DTS audio, this is a must get. Also English subs are included so those if English isn’t your first language, you can still understand.

Ronin is the Japanese word used for Samurai without a master. In this case, the Ronin are outcast specialists of every kind, whose services are available to everyone - for money. Dierdre (undoubtedly from Ireland) hires several Ronin to form a team in order to retrieve an important suitcase from a man who is about to sell it to the Russians. After the mission has been completed successfully, the suitcase immediately gets switched by a member of the team who seems to work into his own pocket. The complex net of everyone tricking everyone begins to surface slowly, and deadly…

Nothing, it will usually look sharper and more detailed.

It won’t rip the fabric of space like you seem to be thinking.

This movie is not bad at all..bu certainly not a great one as many here suggest. It’s ok when you have nothing else to do. I watched it yesterday and was quite bored especially during the cheesy classic action sequences (car chases etc)..a lot of stuff you see/hear in the movie which makes you feel you’ve seen them over and over again..

I really didn’t like this movie. Especially the ending.

Guess it just wasn’t for me.

I am still of the opinion that Mission Impossible 3 is the best pure action movie of all time.

i do not understand whats the point of this “great quality” is. a 1CD or 2CD rip is suitable quality for most. Whats the point?it makes no sense to me…these people who want mega biggie GB are just crazy

    O’ Dear
This is really the wrong place to post a naive comment like that.
Considering most HD TV’s can be connected via HDMI or VGA to the PC for all that lovely HD goodness.
People with HD screens demand more than blocky and blurry xvids now.

Best Car Chase Scene EVER!! Makes you dizzy in a very good way. Like a mix of percacets and that feeling you get when you almost tip over in your chair, but you catch yourself at the last second…. Just like that.

    March 25th, 2008 | 05:21

That is not 1080p res, the OFICCIALL 1080p is 1920×1080! so that is HD but not full HD

  32. testou
    March 25th, 2008 | 06:01

    @32
It is 1080p, the aspect ratio of the original film is a 2.35:1 cinema screen, they would have to cut off the edges or badly stretch the image to match the 1920×1080 ratio with no gain in quality.

  33. youidiots
    March 25th, 2008 | 09:04

    1. If you read the scene rules, you must crop the black bars from all releases.. so a 1920×1080p release would have 132 pixels of black on the top and the bottom, which would fail scene rules, and get nuked. So they crop the 132 pixels from the top and the bottom making it 816 res, thus its still 1080p. Leaving the black bars in the encode reduces the bitrate given to the video that actually HAS video in it, and not black useless junk.

    2. Subtitles included in this release are for the non-english parts of the movie, not english for the hearing impaired.
