Time for another TV pack. This is another HBO program which aired only for two seasons with only 24 episodes (as it was intended for a mini-series). The series was a ratings success for HBO and the BBC. The show received much media attention from the start, and Rome was honored with numerous awards and nominations in its two-season run. Co-creator Heller stated in December 2008 that a Rome movie is in development. The series was filmed in various locations, but most notably in the Cinecittà studios in Italy. Anyways take a look if you like good war and action shows.

Family dysfunction. Treachery. Betrayal. Coarse profanity. Brutal violence. Graphic (and sometimes brutal) sex. No, it’s not The Sopranos, it’s Rome, HBO’s madly ambitious series that bloodily splatters the glory of Rome just as savagely as Monty Python and the Holy Grail soiled the good name of Camelot (but with far fewer laughs; very few funny things happen on the way to this forum). Set in 52 B.C. (Before Cable), Rome charts the dramatic shifts in the balance of power between former friends Pompey Magnus (Kenneth Cranham), leader of the Senate, and Julius Caesar (Ciaran Hinds), whose imminent return after eight years to Rome after conquering the Gauls, has the ruling class up in arms. At the heart of Rome is the odd couple friendship between two soldiers who fortuitously become heroes of the people. Lucius Vorenus (Kevin McKidd) is married, honorable, and steadfast. Titus Pullo (Ray Stevenson) is an amoral rogue whose philosophy is best summed up, “I kill my enemies, take their gold, and enjoy their women.” Among Rome’s most compelling subplots is Lucius’s strained relationship with his wife, Niobe (Indira Varma), who is surprised to see her husband alive (but not as surprised as he is to find her upon his homecoming with a newborn baby in her arms!) Any viewer befuddlement over Rome’s intrigues and machinations, and determining who is hero and who is foe, disappears the minute Golden Globe-nominee Polly Walker appears as Atia, Caesar’s formidable niece and a villainess for the ages. In the first hour alone, she offers her already married daughter as a bride to the recently widowed Pompey. One eagerly awaits to see what (or who) she’ll do next as much as we anticipate her comeuppance in the final episode.

    When this gets out on Blu-Ray, I'll be glad to put my money in the hands of the creators.

    One of the best series I've ever seen on TV, probably even better than Sopranos and The Shield.

    They could probably make 10+ more seasons because the history of the Roman empire is so fasinating. This series stops wneh Augustus comes to power.

    Sorry dont mean to be mr.correct-a-bunch but the show didnt have good ratings thats why it went under and never had a third season which it was clearly meant to have.

    The show cost over 100 million dollars in the first season alone and without a huge fan base HBO couldnt carry on with it.
    These are HBO's Reasons for canceling the show :) I sent them several emails begging for it to get a third season.

    It very well may have had good ratings after it was already canceled and HBO sold it to every single cable company that would broadcast it. Which they should have done in the first place to keep this great show in production.

    But honestly this show is up there with band of brothers maybe even better set design and actors make this one of the best tv series of all time.

    I remember this series.. it was really good.

    It got everything: blood, violence, nudity (LOTS), sex, some lesbian action :D , incest, humor, tragedy, and above all a really good plot and great characters.

    I think it was right to end with the 2nd season though. There was a sense of closure with no cliffhangers.

    now that I am an heir who never has to work again, I've been afforded the time to catch up on a bunch of shows that I missed during my high school and college years.

    didn't care for oz too much, but band of brothers, prison break (fox), 24 (fox), sopranos, and deadwood have proved to be valuable time wasters.

    time to try rome. nothing has lived up to THE WIRE (only show I ever followed from day one) yet. it's still the best tv ever, bar none, without peer, hands down.

    you don't know what your talking about. HBO is not a cable channel. So they will never expect to have ratings like CSI for example would. Secondly it was highly rated for an HBO series. Thirdly no way it cost 100 million of 1 season.

Towards that end, the two networks committed a US$100-110 million (£62.7 million pounds) budget to the production of twelve 1-hour episodes, with HBO contributing US$85 million, and the BBC contributing US$15 million.

    Whats the point of putting the "torrent search" link up on a file when EVERYTIME you go to that link site, it fails to find the torrent. Then all your left with is HOTFILE oh yeah RapidShare…..
