Rockstar announced release date for GTA 4
On April 29, the controversial video game publisher will release the long-awaited fourth installment of its best-known, and most popular, video game, “Grand Theft Auto IV.” “We are so excited to be releasing ‘Grand Theft Auto IV,’” Sam Houser, founder and executive producer of Rockstar Games, said in a statement. “We’ve pushed ourselves very hard to make something incredible, and hope the game sets a new benchmark for interactive entertainment.” The game will be available on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation3, and Amazon.com is already accepting pre-orders. In the past, both Rockstar and the developer behind it, Take-Two, have been blasted for violent and sexually explicit content in the game.
In 2005, critics took issue with a “secret” sex scene in “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas,” that was easily unlocked by gamers. Ultimately, the Entertainment Software Rating Board changed the game’s rating from Mature to Adults Only. Most stores refuse to carry games with an Adults Only rating. The rating for the latest “Grand Theft Auto” game is still being determined, according to Rockstar’s Web site. The game isn’t the only one of Take-Two’s franchises to be criticized over violent content. In 2007, the violent imagery of “Manhunt 2,” which chronicles the ultraviolent killing rampage of an escaped sociopath from a mental hospital, stirred worldwide controversy. Is this going to be the game of the year? I really hope so…

GTA was the reason i got my first IBM PC, i later switched from PC to Console and GTA was the main reason i got the PS2 and later the PSP (still the best game on it), i have the PS3 already…April seems like a long way off

Where the hell have you been since gta 2? Starting with gta 3 all gta’s have been consoles first, and with that, playstation first. Every single one of them. I think gta4 is the first to be cross platform at launch.
There will be a pc version, probably a few months down the road. There is no, and will be no, ps3 emulator. Your pc can’t hope to match the power of the ps3, let alone run it’s own OS AND emulate the ps3.

I hope they don’t make a PC version. I can’t believe how overrated these games are. With the exception of the very first GTA game, these are the most boring and overhyped games ever released. I doubt this new one will be any better. All they did with the two other GTA3 games was to add more useless crap that had no effect on gameplay.

You said it yourself, “GTA3 games”… these were simply expansions, but great expansions at that.
GTA4 is the official sequel to GTA3. meaning improved engine, physics, scale, and from what i’ve read, better storyline with more depth. They’ve been working on this game since the original GTA3…
I actually think you should stick to your guns and avoid this game as you have so little hope that it will be any good.

PC users will probably have the game released around October-November, that’s the best time frame for a PC game. Rockstar will most likely announce the PC version this summer so until then there will be nothing official.

You are either very young or very dumb, or both. Sure PS3 was an ok platform at release, but it’s getting old already. Won’t take long until an affordable PC can emulate it. Question is WHY someone would want to do that other than nostalgia.

for me its a blessing, i dont know why [of course i do ;], but the idea of a functioning, living city, where you can just drive and obey all the rules, or cause some very, very splendid carnage was there since GTAuno. And then came San Andreas along and maan was that addictive or not? But after a while it got repetitive, for me it was because of the programming engine[bad physics, models...]. Ps3 emulator? LOL! Do you know what is pcsx2 system req? Now imagine what is system req for running (maybe) ps3 emulator? it will need a super computer.
The way cell processor processing data is way different than Intel/AMD does.
This was carried over from PS2. So the closest PS3 emulator would be running better on RISC processor based hardware like HP-UX or previously Digital Alpha processor.
Let put this way, Intel/AMD architecture geared towards DOS/Wintel environment, while RISC like Sun SPARC (another example) was designed to accomodate 64 bit open source OS like UNIX and its Variance (linux for example)

As a German Im used to playin the US-versions, they (honestly!) are less censored: corpses don´t just disappear after bleeding green and no cuts, human foes, all missions! Imagine that!!

Get the facts right. If both Sony and MS wanted, CPU-wise, the most powerful console ever, they would have used x86 processors like xbox did in the past.
They don’t do it because.
1. x86 CPU cost more to produce.
2. x86 CPU isn’t optimized for gaming (so they claim)
3. They might have legal issues regarding intellectual property on the console.

why fight it consoles only get the games first nowadays coz they know they can make money… us pc owners download our games for FREE… free movies, music & games… why on earth do u want a ps3 where u HAVE to buy things for it to work… ok if u get it chipped or wotever u can work around it… but thats hassle and then ur warranty is void.. why bother…

I met Sam Houser in NYC during the premiere of “The Blair Witch Project.” He waited in line with us geeks all day long waiting for the midnight premiere. He was a crazy mutha back then. Nice to see he hasn’t changed. Still making great games.

I have a ps2 emulator and that is still pretty lame at some times compared to an actual ps2. If someone actually somehow managed to run a ps3 emulator the cost to do so would be a lot more expensive then a ps3 :/

I bought my ps2 for vice city and i’ll be getting a ps3 on the 27th and gt6(cos its the sixth not the 5th.. two 2D games on the p.c… 3 ps so far)on the 29th april!
