Rocket Science LIMITED DVDRip XviD-NeDiVx

Another limited dvdrip by same NeDiVx group. I’m not that much into limited editions of the movies, but this one have a decent rating at RT (85%) and we all know how picky they are. So this is probably something good.

Plot: Jeffrey Blitz (2002’s SPELLBOUND) directs this comedy that follows in the footsteps of teen outsider indies such DONNIE DARKO, THUMBSUCKER, NAPOLEON DYNAMITE, and RUSHMORE. Set in New Jersey, the film follows Hal Hefner (impressive newcomer Reese Thompson) in his attempts to go through high school unnoticed. This is made considerably harder by his obvious stutter and inability to verbalize even the most basic statements, not to mention his thoughts and feelings. Bringing him no help are his strange and abusive older brother Earl (Vincent Piazza), his recently divorced parents, his mother’s live-in boyfriend, and his school’s inadequate speech therapist. When the school’s bossy, attractive debate champion Ginny Ryerson (Anna Kendrick) tries to recruit Hal as her debating partner, good sense tells him no but his hormones cry yes, and soon Hal finds himself confronted with growing feelings for Ginny as well as the looming humiliation of having to compete in the state finals.

    Sounds good, thanks.
Rotten Tomatoes may be picky, but not in the original sense of meaning as they only collect external reviews and calculate their rating out of more or less negative and positive tendencies in the several reviews. They don’t really rate any movies.

How does this movie compare to Denzel Washington’s debate moofie which I haven’t seen yet?

And how come similar movies always seem to come out in pairs? Like for example there was Flightplan and Red Eye. There was Troy and Kingdom of Heaven. The Brave One and Death Sentence. You get my drift.

Haha and did anyone watch Dragon Wars? Do you think they went to a LOTR firesale held by Peter Jackson to buy most of his not-needed-anymore props and computer imaging assets and then just borrowed bits and pieces from other movies to create a silly plot?

    Ok going off-topic. I soz…

  16. January 14th, 2008 | 18:47

going to try this one out…

I saw this movie at cinema and would say it is well worth watching. We have all been teenagers and we have (mostly) fancied some girl way out of our league.
Rotten Tomatoes is a very good site for info about how good or bad a movie really is. It gets away from the “one mans opinion” factor.

    Hello people of Release Log.
I’ve just opened this Rocket Science page and an ad appeared for some Finance Company, suddenly trojans tried to install themselves on my pc, but were fortunately blocked by my anti-virus, and then Explorer had to stop an unknown installation.
    I’m not very happy!!!
    Beware of the Finance Ad…

    @15 Deep Debate:

Q: How ‘Rocket Science’ compares to ‘The Great Debaters’?

A: I haven’t seen ‘Rocket Science’ yet, though this flick, seems to be a comedy and is playing in the present day.

In contrast to that, the historic events that ‘The Great Debaters’ brings to life took place in around 1935 (20 years before Rosa Parks, 30 years before abolition of lawful racism in the US). TGD is a real drama. Good movie.

Uhh, I watched this movie and I must say I was thoroughly disappointed, too many cringe moments for my taste, and it has such a non-ending, made me feel…unresolved. Damn indie flick, gotta buck the norm.

Yeah… he has no idea… I’m pretty sure ‘limited’ means that the movie is only available in “limited theaters”… as in it’s not main stream.

Great flick, enjoyed it very much, sure it was cringey at times - but that’s the point - we have all fancied someone that would never go out with us.
The soundtrack was amazing - anyone have any idea where it can be gotten. Thanking in advance.

Have a good one - De from Cork, Ireland
