Rockaway 2007 DVDRip XviD-SSF

Now that I have the rest of this week and some of next week off for Easter, you’ll definitely see more posts from me ;) . The guys from SSF bring us this pretty unknown movie Rockaway, but it does have a pretty decent plot line.  The runtime for this movie is rather small so you get to enjoy nice video and AC3 sound.

Trane returns from the war in Afghanistan as a hero. But there is no hero’s welcome awaiting him when he steps off the A-train onto the Rockaway Beach platform in Queens, New York. Instead, he finds a world he once called home now overrun by thugs and second-rate Russian mobsters. His own home, where his wife and child once resided, is now a brothel operated by Juju, a local thug, and Trane’s own sister Cari, a lost soul caught up in the ugliness that has taken over.

    I dunno the more I use IMDb the more I become convinced that it’s reviews and it’s ratings are distorted by cliques of embittered wannabe’s. The wannabe auters resent those who are better able to put a deal together and get something out on celluloid; and the wannabe critics imagine that being a critic is about tearing a movie into shreds rather than highlighting a movie’s successes and flaws.
    Consequently I prefer to use the Movie Review Query Engine at http://www.mrqe.com
    This is not perfect either but in general the range of reviews presented for many films are mostly by professional reviewers so they attempt a higher degree of objectivity than IMDb.

    That said MRQE only has one review on Rockaway from a site called Home Theatre Info. The review is generally positive but some of the less well known review sites do engage in advertorial reviews. That is like Gamespot they can favour the work of those who advertise with them. There is no way of telling if this is the case here, as I haven’t watched Rockaway yet, but I shall, primarily on the basis of that review which is well argued and with no particular ax to grind.

    Yeah, IMDB ratings are BS.
    If the idea is to waste space knock yourself out. If it’s to give an indication of the quality of the movie post the rating from some meta critics site like RT, Metacritic or the one posted above.

    If it doesn’t have a rating from any critic anywhere then that tells you a lot more than the 12 people on IMDB who are odds on just the cast and crew for some of the crap that gets posted here.
