It stands for HEURISTICS. What AVG is telling you is that it has found a file that it thinks is suspicious, but is not actually contained within it's database of viruses. In other words, and in all likelyhood, it is a false positive. False positives generated by heuristic based scanning are actually very common, particularly with cracks and keygens. Grisoft, the creators of AVG, should really put in a proper description whenever it finds something this way. Folks whom lack any knowledge of what heuristics actually is are more likely to delete an important program or system file, possibly causing just as much damage to their own PC as any real virus might.
