Robert D Anderson and the Legacy of Cthulhu-SKIDROW

SKiDROW are one of those legendary groups that some people will refuse to believe have come back from the dead. I tend to believe that when someone says something they are telling the truth but if you are more skeptical then me, check out the NFO. The notes from SKiDROW might be able to persuade you. The game that SKiDROW have released this time around has a rather lengthy title, Robert D Anderson and the Legacy of Cthulhu. Read the description from the developers for all the over exaggerated and unique features of this game. From a neutral perspective this looks like a standard shooter / adventure game with pre millennium graphics. I was contemplating downloading the game but then i saw the file size which seems to be on the big side that stopped me from leeching it… =/ . However if you do decided this is for you, there is no protection so you can copy the disc to your hearts content! These guys *should* pre some better titles soon!

Seems like a very, very crappy game. Here’s a YouTube-hosted trailer, take a look:

The youtube shows that gunfire sounds like wet cardboard being struck by a strap, but I didn’t get a chance to hear it first hand. After spending 10 minutes on a loading screen and listening to the main character giving the intro voiceover I wound up with 1 FPS on my rig that has no trouble with Oblivion.

DCotE was a fucking masterpiece. RDAatLoC (there’s a mouthful) isn’t.

You`re making quite a fool out of yourself ^^

    1. The first room is easy to exit, I did it with the pistol near the skeleton and made first use of the physics system.

    2. 90% of your complaints can be explained because of your PC System – I´m pretty sure you don`t have a Core2Duo or X2 CPU, as “heavily recommended” in both manual and readme. WIth such a CPU, the game is smooth and bugless, pretty much fun.

    3. “It looks like someone built it from some shitty construction set.”

Man, it IS built from a construction set, it`s a fan-made game sold for a few bucks / Euro, without copy protection and with a heavy load of bonus material contributed bfor free y artists who wanted to support those guys…

    4. I´ve got a Review Press version here, and you can believe me when I say that with a decent hardware, this game is still trash, but it`s far better entertainment than several “pro” games these days. Somewhere between 6 to 7 out of Ten would be fair.

You have to be a Cthulhu fan i think to appreciate these sort of fan based games and graphics are ok.

Having hi end graphics doesn’t make the game play any better
just look at Doom3 nice graphics boring and predicable game.

    @DeadlyBlow

My rig runs Oblivion just fine, so it’s definitely not a hardware issue.

Physics system? What physics system? Shoot someone in the head a dozen times and watch them not die or even react. There’s your physics system.

    It’s just a shit game.

This game is.. to say the least.. absolutely appauling.

I’ll play almost anything as long as it has a familar source that I like, in this case Lovecraft, but WTF?

I played a few rooms and just gave up, it just simply bored the ass off me.

Plus the load times are the longest I’ve ever sat through. Runs fine but that’s the only thing fine about it.. scratch that, the intro avi makes the premise seem quite interesting, then it goes to live action and the amature nature shows itself in all of it’s glory… they even felt the need to wear poorly applied makeup.

There’s obviously a hell of a lot of work gone into it, but the execution is piss poor.

Congrats to the devs though for managing to get this turkey sold to a publisher.
