Might want to consider raid drive setup. With a high traffic site like this, if the drive goes bad it will take hours to put in a new one. with raid one can go bad and the site keeps chumming.

But the real issue isn't how strong the servers are, it's wordpress lol. It's not very good for thousands of articles. I have a wordpress site with 50,000 articles and it's slower than molasses on a quadcore 8gb ram server.

More nfo! :P What kind of mobo are your servers using? (Would also be interesting to know what chassis you are using, if you have redundant psu's etc.) **

Do you store entire articles in the sql-database? How large is your SQL-database?

Would be nice with some SAS-drives for the SQL-server, too bad its so expensive. ;| (Would be cool if you could load the newest additions to the SQL-database to the RAM(since the whole database would be to large), and move it to the HDD when it gets for example over one week old... (Damn, I'm smart..))

But, really not even software-mirroring. *afraid* :O

A good website/blogsite takes the onus off it's editors staff etc by utilising good methods and built-in functions to handle and optimise where necessary all submitted content

My only complaint is about the loading of images. I don't reside in the US or any other first world country and so my bandwidth is limited to less than 1 Mbps. This should be enough for browsing, but your editors don't seem to care about <strong>optimizing</strong> and <strong>proper linking</strong> of images. As a result, my experience (user experience) browsing through your site diminishes over time mainly due to those images not loading or taking too much time to load.

I propose that the site owner at least hold a conference to its editors and its upcoming editors on how to optimize and place or hotlink images properly. Photoshop's "Save for Web" feature should be a good start.

I hope editors would take the extra effort of optimizing and double-checking their linked images.
