RLSLOG Forum?

Alright so I kinda just came up with the idea that since a lot of people want a RLSLOG forum, but Martin is still doubting the necessity of one I thought I’d let the readers speak out. I do agree that RLSLOG and NTi are two completely different communities and RLSLOG deserves it’s own forum after one year of existence. Wait a second did we even mention that RLSLOG turned 1 year old on January the 1st, 2007? Hmm, nope don’t think so. (In that new year’s post perhaps… Hmm.) Well I guess I could celebrate it a little… By giving out FOUR invites to TL! Yeah I’m writing this down as I come up with new stuff, that’s why it looks as if I were writing this down as I came up with it… Because I am. The first four comments to this post (please add your E-mail address) will receive an invitation.

Now back to the whole forum issue, who ever wants this forum has to copy and paste the following line into the first line of their comment on this post: “I DO!”. And if you do not want a RLSLOG forum, don’t bother commenting at all because I don’t want any flame wars going on that weren’t started by me. Or Crimson. Hmm, let’s see here I’m doing this without Martin’s knowledge and it’s 4:36 AM so there’s no way I could just go online and ask Martin about this so I guess I can’t put a required amounts of votes on this. I will remain completely neutral and the voting is up to you. But if you were in those first four and you did not add “I DO!” into the first line of your comment I guess you won’t be needing a TL invitation if you know what I mean…

Oh man, am I going to be ashamed of the unorganized crap I just wrote when I wake up later in the afternoon.

Note: Invitations have been given away. It’s survival of the fastest (but not too fastest) out here and I am Kevin, now back to you Tom!

    In my opinion, though alot I’m sure will disagree, I don’t really need an invite to a forum that provides me with, well, whatever, when NTi and RlsLog already provide/inform me well in advance of anyone else I know by just visiting the websites often. They are already my source, in advance!

    forum? i dont think its a good idea.

    in my eye’s, rlslog is unique, and shouls stay that way.
    forum is just to much for this site, its unnecessary, what forum will you open? what special in it? nothing, its just another forum like any other of the 1 billion forums out there.

    i like it the way it is right now, what we have here is much more “closer / personal” than any forum could give us.

    its personal, keep it that way.

    @R1pper: We may have one of the 1 billion other forums out there, but it’ll attract plenty of people with or without you PLUS I disagree about the whole “close” thing. Comments are often used as if they were forums of their own but they can’t possibly be used that way so a real forum is necessary. And if you don’t join you’ll be missing out so you’d join us anyway. :P

    BTW… It could be my 500mhz cpu, I gotta upgrade soon! Oh well, I only need torrent leech for one reason and that is to get South.Park.S10E03.PDTV.XviD-GORE . But really, I get 500KB/s speeds and auto-unrar from easynews so its NOT REALLY THAT BAD – so Kevin, I don’t care that much, but the race was sure exciting during the first 6 minutes. You just cant buy excitement like that, and that requires a thank-you to you.

    why? this blog is made for newtorrents.info site and forum. If you want your own forum, why not make a section on that forum already? why visit 2 same websites that will have same content?? why come to one place that links to other same one? this is silly and will only seperate things rather form anything.

    I think a forum isn’t absolutly necessary. A user account feature, with better protection of email, would be most welcomed from my point of view.

    okey I think Kevin must have a decent hangover after this post and I would be happy if he could discuss things with me a bit before launching such a wave. we have already talked about the forum few times as he still stands for it and I’m the one who’s neutral or against.

    The main point why I’m against it, is that there’s already one forum running. And it doesn’t really matter whether it’s titled NewTorrents, BBC or L33t-H4ck3rs – you can talk there, ask for problems or have some fun. There’s a lot of people willing to help you and I can honestly say that that forum has also great community of users.

    Creating a new forum with very similar look and just another logo including RLSLOG instead of NewTorrents doesn’t seem to be too reasonable. It would have probably very same categories, very same structure and all. And I honestly think there’s no need for this. You need topics to discuss and that happens right here on Releaselog, when we do some post and you add your comments to it.

    I can create a special category – or a set of categories – on this already working forum, but again, what would be the topics and what would people discuss there. From that point, doing such a thing doesn’t have any future in my eyes…

    but there are users on here that are not on NTi and vice-versa
    maybe similar in format but maybe different in content, you have to set the rules, or like you say the forum could be linked to versus pictures…but imho when communities get too big they lose members fast…

    Martin, what you’re missing is the fact that there are different users on both NTi and RLSLOG. So even if the forums would be very similar this wouldn’t matter because there would be different people on both forums. Ever since I found out about RLSLOG I’ve used it but I have NEVER in my life used NTi and I reckon I never will. On top of that RLSLOG readers already know each other before the forum is set-up, so from the very start we’d have a very tight community. I may work on RLSLOG, but I will never join the NTi forums just because they’re both your projects and there are tons of people just like me. A lot of people on RLSLOG also use private trackers so they probably have never even seen NTi. (I was one of them for a long time.)

    It’s just an idea but as you can see there are a lot of people that support the whole RLSLOG forum idea. If you’re really not sure then why not give it a week. You could have ONE week in which the use of the RLSLOG forum can be tested. That wouldn’t hurt anybody I think.

    Kevin, volkomen respect for being de bob.

    You guys both have a good point. On the one side, I can see why the people from Rlslog (which has its own unique visitors) would want a own forum to discuss releases, issues with burning or just to hang out. But that is actually exactly what Martin is trying to say, there allready is a place where you can discuss the releases, ask questions about difficulties and hangout. Creating an extra forum, would create extra load, not even considering bandwidth and stuff like that, but it would need moderating and nurgering.

    I do think there has to be a place where all the Rlslog enthausiast can gather to help eachother or to just chat, but Im not sure whether Martin should be responsible for it. Im currently maintaining my own site, but hardly have the time to keep up with it. And maybe its not a lot effort, I dont know, I dont run forums. But if you guys, that includes you Kevin, want their own forum, create one yourselves.

    Why not make a place made by one of you. If you guys are so eager to have an own place, then go and get one. With a group of a few Rlslog enthausiasts I guess it wouldnt be a problem moderating, answering questions etcetera. Cant put all the load on Martins shoulder you know.

    Anyways, the NTi forums are wide-open to receive you guys. Still think that Martin, Kevin, Scit and Mike are allready doing plenty of good work. Dont mind this whole blabla, just have a nice day. ;)

    if you guys have a forum, great but please do not let the info and quality of RLSLOG blog suffer – it is already slightly being trumped in another blog with screenshots in each post and film posters for d/l as folder.jpg.

    come one improve rlslog first.

    That point could easily be used on every forum out there. Why go to the NTi forums when there are like 200 other forums about torrents? What this is about is about a separate community that stands on it’s own. I have always thought of the RLSLOG forum as an idea but in time, as the visitors continue to grow, you’ll see that a RLSLOG forum is inevitable. RLSLOG is used by people who favor other (private) trackers as well, so keep that in mind.

    I’m supporting Kevin, to give forum a weeks test-time andd see what happens. I’m pretty sure rlslog users will like it so much so that there will be no need to change anything and the forum will stay for a long time.

    Ok, i’ll drop my point here too. So you know what I think about it.

    I’m against it. RLSlog was made by Martin, to post detailed information about new Scene releases. People come here to see if there are new releases that might be interesting for download. They read something, and sometimes drop a comment. This is the way RLSlog is ment.

    What i was thinking about. What about a nice IRC channel? People can come there, chat with other RLSlog visitors. Not only about the releases, but also about other things. This is MUCH easier to organise.

    Let me hear it.

    I’ve always thought that RLSLOG was part of newtorrents in a way.
    even if allot of the viewers here use private trackers,that doesn’t mean they cant use NT forums :| !!

    we have elite forums users that doesn’t use NTi
    theres nothing wrong in that
