RLSLOG back online after 3h downtime

Uff. I hope you feel as relieved as me. I just spent 3 hours convincing our current ISP to put the site back online. What happened? A simple copyright infrigement email from some stupid internet investigator company (or rather a bot) caused our ISP go nuts and shut down the whole site after I refused to delete that particular thread. The email says we are illegaly offering copies of certain game, which is of course not true. The another paradox: it was Unreal Tournament 3, half a year old game noone really cares about now.

One would think that writing few paragraphs and posting a few links to third party sites can’t cause you much trouble in country where’s the freedom of speech. Well, it can. I can be lucky the site is running at least, the post was removed and we will have to find a new home for our project pretty fast as our ISP doesn’t like to host it anymore. I’m just so disgusted right now by attitude of these people with whom I closely cooperated (and paid) for more than two years. Anyway, the site is back for you and I can finaly take some sleep…

    I’m surprised it took this long, seeing RSLOG is the most high profile site of this kind.

    I agree with first poster. Now that this site is as popular as ever, rlslog is going to get a lot more threats and bs e-mail about this stuff so it’s best to find a new ISP asap.

    I’d recommend you to host this where you’ll have null to little problems with your hosting company… somewhere in Europe could be a way out but honestly and judging by thepiratebay.org I’d realy try to host it in sweden.

    you should jump on board with the pirate bay and see if they’ll lend you some server space i know they always are willing to lend a hand when it comes to sites like this and more high profile sites that have trouble with silly american lawmakers

    Well, forget about relocating to Norway.

    Even if we point our BIG finger to the U.S. about freedom of speech and such, when it comes to IT, we are spaceage and beyond on technology, but still in the middle ages regarding handling of P2P sites and the likes.

    Does North Korea have some good ISP’s? At least U.S. layers will have to “talk to the hand” :-D

    i think it was US ppl, they afraid of this because they now are 3rd world country for economy collapse and dollar is not worth nothing now. i heard they not have many food and people starving for no jobs because bush take all oil money from iraq and afghanstan. all US people now going to canada and mexico because they very poor. they stop this site because they mad!!!!

    I have a dual-core xeon, HP DL380 with 3 500 GB drives in Raid 5 and 4 Gb Ram running CentOS/Cpanel/Whm up in Toronto if you guys want a backup. The server isn’t being used much, I have a 100 Meg port with unlimited transfer. Just a little project, hoping to make money off it eventually (broke my neck, can’t work IT Consulting anymore, hosting is my new calling), got kayako and all that fun stuff. Anyways, just me doing it, and like I said, base config, got 8 sites on it right now and umm, 5 are mine :) I won’t hold any “iffy” content though if your going to ask.

    I don`t agree wit this quote, I think norway would bee a good place to host, since the authorities has some better things to do than close sites as rls log an so.

    @32 are you ok? would take a couple of months maybe a year through the coyrts to prove that rlslog is in violation of any kind of copy write laws..wich they are not rlslog provides a service just like a newspaper does only difference is newspapers charge for the news..
