RLSLOG: 238 000 unique visitors a day

I’m quite happy to announce another great milestone in the history of RLSLOG. We reached to 238 000 unique visitors the last day. If someone thought that the recent development would mean a drop in the amount of visitors or even end of the site as few people mentioned, he was terribly wrong: Releaselog is stronger than ever before!

After those nasty hacks redirecting you to different rip off sites, I today found even nastier trick: probably scared of the competition, the former editors inserted a nofollow meta tag in the header of RLSLOG, which means all search engines like Google ignored the site for last few days. The record high number of visitors reached last night however proved, that our visitors find a way to the site even with those lame practices.

And the good news won’t stop there: we will soon unveil a new server to host our images, so you should never ever see missing or non working pictures on RLSLOG again. As our site consumes a great portion of bandwith, I chose 6 terabytes of bandwith for it – let’s hope this will be enough. Thank you all. Remeber, there’s only one original. Long live RLSLOG!

Congrat’s! I’m glad to hear the site is doing so well. I’ve been coming here for about 2 years and am indebted to all of the hard work everyone has put into bringing us an onslaught of good releases. I saw some of the dirty tactics that were pulled while throwing their little cyberfit and was not impressed. I’m not sure what all the hubbub was about and normally wouldn’t have even formed an opinion about it but since I was redirected and redirected and… redirected… I did form an opinion about it. It was shady and I’m glad they failed to hinder this site so maybe now they will just stop and crawl back into fetal position.

  20. September 3rd, 2008 | 01:19

typo fixed. concerning the numbers, i think this is more than enough so a long term plan is to stay on the same numbers and focus on quality content. and of course it’s you, readers, who adds a great deal to the popularity of the site, as there really isn’t a good site without good readers…

What is this all about? What happened? What image server? I subscribe via RSS and always am able to read the releases I want to no problem?

The numbers from counters are affected by RSS/Atom and rotated proxy, by the way… but really those numbers mean nothing to any of us that don’t work with you.

The more numbers just mean more problems anyways, it’s best to keep starting small to shake off the haters (in my experience anyway)

    well good luck!

  30. nooffense
    September 3rd, 2008 | 01:29

No offense but I don’t believe it. Many times people quote these large numbers and say they are unique visitors when in fact a unique visitor is likely multiple-counted because of what appears on the first page. For example, a page with 5 pictures will be counted as 6 hits because 5 images get loaded and 1 page is loaded but in reality you had just one visitor. Some people just count the log lines and not the actual IPs. I could be wrong on this so I take it back if I am…congrats anyway on having lots of visits.

  31. Turtle
    September 3rd, 2008 | 01:34

Why’s there so much hate when you are obviously here to check for the latest releases? Mission Accomplished

  32. Ethiopia
    September 3rd, 2008 | 01:35

@32 The images are hosted else where, and their loading would not count to rlslog’s visitor count.

While this isn’t the right way to count, 260,000 unique visitors mean 180 unique visitors per minute. That’s not a lot at all, considering rlslog has visitors all over the world.

it’s easy to manipulate that number martin if you choose the definition of a unique visitor. for example, if you choose to refresh cookies every 5 minutes. then the same person who refreshes in 5 minutes is in your definition a “unique visitor.” why don’t you have it refresh every 24 hours? then i think your little numbers game will drop dramatically.

  61. nothing
    September 3rd, 2008 | 03:17

I don’t believe these numbers claimed by martin to be perfectly accurate. Anyone with basic knowledge can query rlslog into alexa and watch their hits graph dive almost straight down since the good editors left the site.

With the heat high like that before I doubted if it would get any better again, but the first few days after ‘the event’ there was a flood of new releases from the hands of new editors. It then gotten a bit quiet, but now things really settled and everyone has got into rythem. Real nice. Btw, at first I understood where the editors who left where comming from, but it was way exagerated. That they’ve come to a point they even change meta tags is just a sad development. If you don’t want to stay okay, but then stick to it.

Congrats on the figures, but if I have to have a swipe at the site, maybe you could rename it TVlog? I only say this because over the last couple of months, there seems to be more and more TV links on the site, and less and less Movie, Music and Apps links…. though when the movie links come on here, I gotta admit it’s the best site around for links and extra links in the comments (my ISP – or rapidshare itself, haven’t worked out which! – throttles rapidshare to 50kb/sec, so the other links are brill). Keep it up tho!

  76. Cryptix
    September 3rd, 2008 | 08:13

    Some stupid comments here.

Personally, I think the war between the attack on RLSLOG was fun to watch; and it wasn’t exactly hard to stop the redirects. =)

As for the Alexa rankings, sure you can see an overall decrease over the last three months; but a strong increase over the last few days. Anyway, you’re talking about Internet reach, there… Not unique hits. If the overall number of people using the Internet increased, but those people haven’t been privileged enough to visit Releaselog yet, then we can expect this kind of trend.

And you know what else is funny… Despite all the stealing of traffic, other certain websites don’t have the same reach or growth that Releaselog has had over the past seven days. Maybe you should look that one up in Alexa, too.

Good job Martin, we all respect what you’ve done here brother.

The lame ‘hacks’ are not even of a script kiddie quality, I wouldn’t worry about it.

1 piece of advice tho my friend. Why not throw out an average months costs. Not what you take it, what it’s costing YOU to keep this site up. It doesn’t have to be a photocopy of a bill, just a close number.

I already have an idea where that will be, but I really don’t think everyone else does.

It isn’t cheap running a high traffic site like this, and some people will not shut up about it.

guys, the links RLSLOG provide are linkbuc ks links, -meaning they make money out of you downloading from their links so please just use the downloads provided by the guys in the comments below…
The people that release this stuff in the first place dont appreciate others making money from their work which is meant to be given to u for free, and they all face stupidly long prison sentences for doing this for us, so please respect that and the scene by not using any pay-per click links like uplo.adjockey and make others aware of what the score is if you see anyone selling scene releases (in any way, either by charging for access to scene stuff, or by pulling stunts like RLSLOg does with uploadj.ockey ;)

You know, I have sat here for the last month just trying to figure out the following question….

Why do we seem to have such a large bunch of kids accessing this site, and it seems that all they like to do is moan! I say if you don’t like this site or how it works, then grow up and move on. Why destroy it for the rest of us that appreciate the work that the poster’s do!

Martin, why don’t you have a reguired sign-up page that has an email verification before activation feature? WQould this not put a stop to the mindless, childish and sometimes rude messages?

Once again thank you to yourself and all the others on this site that donate their time to help others like me!!

    wawaweewa.. well yeah, rlslog rulez…
one of the reasons there are so many visitors here is, that
there are always some helpful individuals posting rapidshare or other one-click-hoster links to the releases in the comments… didn’t see anyone doing that on other comparable sites.. (e.g. scn src – lame)…

but, however, it is sad, that rlslog is soooo slow lately.. well.. anyways, rlslog 4 life!

To the anti Upload Jockey confused dude:

    1. Scene releases are for Scene members only. The leaks to the public are against their will, those caught leaking are excluded from the Scene.
    2. 99.9% of file hosts give incentives to uploaders, Upload Jockey is not different. Are you from Stupidistan or something?

Congrats on all the traffic.. good to see your hard work paying off! Personally, I love this site.. I’m here every day. Unfortunately, I’m on the verge of cutting back because of those damned talking ads.. I mean seriously, three on one page? Reloading with EVERY SINGLE PAGE CLICK? That’s a bit ridiculous.
