RIAA sued AllofMP3 for $1.65 trillion

These guys in the RIAA must be out of their minds. As we informed everyone before, they began a lawsuit against a popular portal, which sells music in Russia and some other countries, AllofMP3.com. Now read carefully: As part of their claim, the labels are seeking $150,000 USD for each of the 11 million songs that were downloaded from June to October 2006 from the AllofMP3.com website. That makes a total sum of 1.65 trillion american dollars. AllofMP3 might be a good business, but anybody with half a brain can understand that 1.65 trillion is something these Russian boys can’t earn.

The funny thing about it is that AllOfMP3 does obey the Russian law. It pays the standard 15% Russian licensing fee that applies to online music to ROM, the Russian Organization for Multimedia & digital systems. ROM is the Russian equivalent of the RIAA. So russian companies have no problems with that. The official response of AllofMP3? It’s like saying “go to hell, RIAA” (I don’t want to be rude today). Finally someone said it in public…

An attempt by the major record labels to use a U.S. court to as part of its campaign against AllofMP3.com is imprudent. AllofMP3 understands that several US record label companies filed a lawsuit against Mediaservices in New York. This suit is unjustified as AllofMP3.com does not operate in New York. Certainly the labels are free to file any suit they wish, despite knowing full well that AllofMP3.com operates legally in Russia. In the mean time, AllofMP3.com plans to continue to operate legally and comply with all Russian laws.

I hope they get some goalies for their company, so if they manage to sue the company. Then only some homeless guys will have to pay 1.6bilion and not the real people behind the company. I would personally shit my pants if I got that sue against me. :-P But thats probably what they want also.
We will we what happends. ;-)

Guys in the RIAA should pay a visit to their local shrink rather than to threaten a fully legal enterprise - in Russia.

Maybe someone should buy them a map of the world so they can see for themselves, that Russia is not a state in the USA :D

Or soon they could be the ones sued for offending and false accusations :)

I know that americans think they control the world and that there laws apply everywhere but in most countrys they have sane copyright laws. The RIAA has no authority in Russia so F off!

“Recording Industry Association of America” now that sound like an American trade group…. oh yea and Russia believe it or not is not a state in the USA. This makes a lot of sense.

Most countrys have sane copyright laws unlike the US which jsut thinks it can bully others to get what they want.

If the songs costs RIAA 150 thousand dollars each and we buy (if we buy)them at 1$/each RIAA must really be our hero.

I mean, not everyone wanna lose 149 999$ as our job =)

These companies are idiotic in the way they handle things and each day there is another stupid lawsuit these guys throw around. I remember back a while they sued an 80 year old, or some equally old aged, lady who didn’t even own a computer.

  13. January 2nd, 2007 | 22:11

if it was Dr. Evil that was running this place he would sue them to 1.65 million dollars (great joke!!) heh

What’s wrong with the worlds courts these days? A few days ago a Brazillian court ordered the shutdown of YouTube >_>

Anyways I hope this own’t affect AllOfMP3. They’re a quality site and I get all my HQ MP4s from there (Ripped live from a PCM source (CD)). I mean when I put my money in there, I was glad for the first time I’ll be getting HQ music, legally, and for real cheap prices.
