Requiem For A Dream 2000 iNTERNAL DVDRip XviD-TURKiSO

abf3.jpgThe best way to close the night is a great old DVDRiP movie. Nothing less than the movie that takes place at the 63th spot of the IMDB Top 250. A drama film starring Jennifer Connelly, Marlon Wayans, Ellen Burstyn and Jared Leto. People who love good dramas and have missed this one, grab it fast!

For his follow-up to his darkly brilliant debut, PI, director Darren Aronofsky chose to adapt a tough and meaty piece of work: Hubert Selby’s 1968 novel REQUIEM FOR A DREAM, a dark spiral into the abyss of barren fantasies doomed to extinction. However, in Aronofsky’s frenetic, visionary, unique, and disturbing style lies the perfect setting for this story of four people whose intertwined lives are filled with eternally hopeful despair. This is a different sort of horror film. Harry Goldfarb (Jared Leto) and Marion Silver (Jennifer Connelly) are lovers in Brooklyn with dreams of setting up a small business and spending the rest of their lives in love their version of the American dream.

The two are also desperate heroin addicts, a compulsion that darkens their lives and leads Harry to repeatedly pawn his mother’s television. His mother, Sara Goldfarb (Ellen Burstyn), is addicted to television, which is why she keeps replacing the stolen set. One day she receives a call from her favorite show, the surreal TAPPY TIBBONS SHOW, and learns that she has been selected to appear on an upcoming broadcast. When she can’t fit into her best red dress, her doctor prescribes diet pills (uppers), to which she swiftly and painfully becomes addicted. Harry’s cohort, an intelligent hustler named Tyrone (Marlon Wayans), completes the foursome. With its unflinching dissection of addiction, REQUIEM FOR A DREAM is a psychologically disturbing, visually captivating depiction of lost hope. The last half hour of the film is among the most harrowing of any film ever made.

Yes, this ought to be the directors cut (102 minutes * PAL-Speedup = 98 minutes = runtime given in nfo).

LOVE this film, it is a modern masterpiece, I have watched it 2 times, and a half and then half again, I have failed to watch it all the way through two times, I doubt I will try to watch it again for a long time :) Maybe if I am down and looking to push myself over the edge.
It’s weird how you can love something that makes you feel so shit.

I don’t get what’s with this movie. Is it because I don’t do drugs and never have? Yes the editing is very good, but wouldn’t call it a masterpiece that’s for sure.

  25. Selby
    August 14th, 2007 | 23:00

@ heidi – your comment barely warrants a reply, tho it does show exactly what kind of of person you are. Kickin It Old Skool shouldnt have even been cammed in the first place let alone being worth a dvdrip – a true waste of bandwidth.

English only dood, coherent english only.

This is a great movie, it’s not life changing, but it is a masterpiece and should be viewed with an open mind.

Make sure you don’t have any sharp objects nearby while watching.

I can’t pretend I don’t do drugs, but I have never and will never inject anything into my arm. Yes, this movie is based around the drug addiction that the several characters are going through, but that isn’t to say you must be a doper to enjoy this.

Did you have to be dead to enjoy jacobs ladder? Did you have to be retarded to enjoy Forest Gump?

This movie is NOT for the faint of heart, but there is a very deep and strong message that most of the people here either missed, or didn’t mention.

    Watch this movie.

  37. americoon

its ok for an american movie, which usually is very low quality. if you want to be really impressed by a movie, download Old Boy, korean movie with subtitles. blows anything american or european away.

then watch Peppermint Candy and Failan … after these, no western movie you see will impress as much.

I didn’t like this movie that much really. Its not that it was badly made or anything , but it just was too depressing. I think it sorta has an anti drug message to it. But i believe you can take certain drugs (weed) and just be a regular good person, this makes it seem like if you use any drug youll end up all messed up. But anyways, its worth a watch at least to see if you like it or not.

As you can see this movie is controversial, so do yourself a favor and watch it. Drug Store Cowboy is another great film. However, this movie sends a anti drug message but not in a preachy sort of way. Oh no, it let’s you discover that on your own. Never does any of the characters not have a choice. Yes, it is depressing but thats the point. It’s not a happy go lucky movie, it’s not a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. If you feel depressed, confused, disgusted, horrified, and afraid after watching this, then the movie did it’s job.

    My 3 cents.

  53. August 15th, 2007 | 04:18

  54. August 15th, 2007 | 04:28

I’m happy to see that someone finally took the time to make a new copy of this movie. Ive always liked the movie; ever since I first started heroin back in 2003. A combination of rich parents and public school. After 3 years of hell, I got clean mid year 2006. Ever since then I’ve gained allot of respect for this movie and how true it is to actual heroin addiction itself. Now I may not have gotten my arm hacked off but it could have very well happened to me down the road. The lies, the death, the sickness, and insanity of heroin addiction is all very true. I recommend this movie to anyone; so that they may see the grim reality behind closed doors. Hopefully in an effort to dissuade anyone from trying it; even those who say it will never happen. Believe you me I never saw myself on that shit; but opiates have the most powerful grip on the mind; mentally and physically. Heaven in a vial never looked so good. Statistically only 25% of the worlds heroin addicts will ever find the power to get clean. Crazy shit I tell yah! Anyways props to TURKiSO for job well done. Peace out.

it’s a shame that so many trolls are posting in the comments.

here is a list of popular drugs ordered by their dangerousness (addiction, health damage and impact on society) released by the UK government. it is no surprise that heroin is on the first place…
there are also legal drugs as alcohol and tobacco listed (in the top 10). this shows how random the drug laws actually are…

    In rank order of harmfulness:

    1. Heroin
    2. Cocaine
    3. Barbituates
    4. Street methadone

Thanks to the dude who recommended “Peppermint Candy” and “Failan.” I’ve been looking for more good Korean movies after “Oldboy” and “The Host.” But please keep your “western movies”- suck bias out of it. USA makes many movies, not all is meant to be great or even good, but some will hit the mark.

And “Requiem for a Dream” is a great movie with a great soundtrack, but it definitely is hard to watch a second time. That’s could probably be taken as a sign of a great movie. This is from the same director of “Pi” and “The Fountain.”

  81. brookman
    August 15th, 2007 | 21:34

    @ekaj

the list is not very detailed and some substancs seem to be pooled in a bigger category.
crack is a form of cocaine (cocaine hydrogencarbonat and salt) and meth (methamphetamin) is amphetamin based. i think amphetamines are listed on rank 10 because they also include other (maybe less dangerous) substances (speed).
