Requiem For A Dream 2000 iNTERNAL DVDRip XviD-TURKiSO

Heed this warning… this movie is so dark and dreary that it could suck you into deep depression. Without giving too much away, the movie deals with the consequences of drug addiction, knowingly or otherwise. It does it in a justifiably cold and ruthless way, accompanied by a chilling score. Directed by the brilliant Aronofsky (”Pi“, “The Fountain“) and acted out by a superb cast led by Ellen Burstyn, who was oscar nominated for her role, “Requiem For A Dream” is one of the best movies of the decade so far and is a must watch for all film buffs.

Synopsis: For his follow-up to his darkly brilliant debut, PI, director Darren Aronofsky chose to adapt a tough and meaty piece of work: Hubert Selby’s 1968 novel REQUIEM FOR A DREAM, a dark spiral into the abyss of barren fantasies doomed to extinction. However, in Aronofsky’s frenetic, visionary, unique, and disturbing style lies the perfect setting for this story of four people whose intertwined lives are filled with eternally hopeful despair.

This is a different sort of horror film. Harry Goldfarb (Jared Leto) and Marion Silver (Jennifer Connelly) are lovers in Brooklyn with dreams of setting up a small business and spending the rest of their lives in love–their version of the American dream. The two are also desperate heroin addicts, a compulsion that darkens their lives and leads Harry to repeatedly pawn his mother’s television. His mother, Sara Goldfarb (Ellen Burstyn), is addicted to television, which is why she keeps replacing the stolen set. One day she receives a call from her favorite show, the surreal TAPPY TIBBONS SHOW, and learns that she has been selected to appear on an upcoming broadcast. When she can’t fit into her best red dress, her doctor prescribes diet pills (uppers), to which she swiftly and painfully becomes addicted.

    @jamez

you really have to try better at irony, you know ;-)
there is another dimension to being smart and that is being clear and simple enough to get the message through to the others. unfortunately, guess what the other end of the spectrum means this way? not being able to grasp anything beyond the very, very basic things. this movie was out of the ordinary and did not just get recognition from the people and the critics, but grew a mass cult-status by itself, not by promotion. that is why it still keeps popping out in such high-score recommendations.
as for the name-calling, good luck and good night as obviously you have nothing better to do. and really, try a bit of a *wise* reply next time.

@Pura – greets to ya, man, you rock

Requiem For A Dream is a GREAT movie. I saw this movie for the first time when I was 18 and I just happened to be withdrawing from heroin (big party kid)…go figure. Man I’ll tell yah, Ive never been more depressed in my LIFE. Like all that shiot that happened to his arm..ugh. The reality of this film is so accurate its disturbing. It has its PROS and CONS for different people. Besides that its one amazingly well directed movie.

    Similar if not better Films….

    Trainspotting (Ewan McGregor) *funny
    Basketball Diaries (Leonardo Dicaprio)
Panic in Needle Park (Al Pacino)
    SPUN (Jason Schwartzman)

I credit this movie with putting me off drugs. To this day!…I still get the willies just looking at stuff. The BEST anti-drug product out there.

This movie is intensely dark, it draws you in while making you want to look away at the same time.

This is definitely a great movie, but I didn’t find it shocking overall. I think it’s because I’ve witnessed so many worse drug related things happen to people I’ve known in real life, so I’m desensitized to these stories. I had a childhood friend who got into hard drugs in high school and eventually got so messed up from years of doing heroin, meth and coke that one day he attacked and robbed his own grandparents at their house while on something, to get money for drugs. He killed himself in prison later a couple of weeks later. That’s just one example of many. I grew up in a very rough area where stuff like that isn’t that uncommon. I think the reality of hard drugs like heroin and meth is even scarier and more messed up than this movie makes it out to be, but it’s still good that this has scared some younger people off trying those drugs. I’ve never tried any hard drugs like meth or heroin because I’ve seen them completely destroy people around me. The story of the old woman was the most depressing and disturbing aspect of this movie. I’m glad this movie didn’t rag on weed though, because weed is completely safe and non-addictive compared to powerful drugs like meth, cocaine and heroin. To even compare it to those drugs would be asinine and incredibly ignorant.

the posted rapidshare links are horribly out of synch(audio).
i seriously recommend you look elsewhere for links as the broken audio completely destroys this movie experience(which should normally an exceptional experience).

Furthermore, the given rapidshare links have a screener message embedded upto 5 times throughout the film, this is not a pure dvdrip. these links are more like a VERY bad screener. DO NOT DOWNLOAD this version.

Being a recovering Heroin addict and just basically being around drugs my whole life, this movie hits it right on the head. From the big dreams that never happen to the addiction to food the woman suffers through. It’s all so accurate and depressing. I watched it ONCE and will probably never watch it again unless someone close to me wants to know what I’ve been through and what it’s like to be a junkie, I would sit and watch it with them.

This movie had a huge impact on me from the music to the overall dark tone. There are a lot of movies that try to portrait what it is to be an addict but none of them come close after seeing this film.

    Watch this movie.
