Requiem For A Dream 2000 iNTERNAL DVDRip XviD-TURKiSO

Heed this warning… this movie is so dark and dreary that it could suck you into deep depression. Without giving too much away, the movie deals with the consequences of drug addiction, knowingly or otherwise. It does it in a justifiably cold and ruthless way, accompanied by a chilling score. Directed by the brilliant Aronofsky (”Pi“, “The Fountain“) and acted out by a superb cast led by Ellen Burstyn, who was oscar nominated for her role, “Requiem For A Dream” is one of the best movies of the decade so far and is a must watch for all film buffs.

Synopsis: For his follow-up to his darkly brilliant debut, PI, director Darren Aronofsky chose to adapt a tough and meaty piece of work: Hubert Selby’s 1968 novel REQUIEM FOR A DREAM, a dark spiral into the abyss of barren fantasies doomed to extinction. However, in Aronofsky’s frenetic, visionary, unique, and disturbing style lies the perfect setting for this story of four people whose intertwined lives are filled with eternally hopeful despair.

This is a different sort of horror film. Harry Goldfarb (Jared Leto) and Marion Silver (Jennifer Connelly) are lovers in Brooklyn with dreams of setting up a small business and spending the rest of their lives in love–their version of the American dream. The two are also desperate heroin addicts, a compulsion that darkens their lives and leads Harry to repeatedly pawn his mother’s television. His mother, Sara Goldfarb (Ellen Burstyn), is addicted to television, which is why she keeps replacing the stolen set. One day she receives a call from her favorite show, the surreal TAPPY TIBBONS SHOW, and learns that she has been selected to appear on an upcoming broadcast. When she can’t fit into her best red dress, her doctor prescribes diet pills (uppers), to which she swiftly and painfully becomes addicted.

    Only good scene in this movie is the protagonist’s “girlfriend” (prostitute) goes to the party full of black men who rape her over and over again. She is completely helpless while the black men violate her. That’s the only good scene in the movie.

    I never really understand why create something that leading people to depresion, movies supose to be fun and spending time relaxing, (even horror movies are fun )i dont understand why as a creator you trying to create nightmares for normal people out there. 37. Pura
    February 21st, 2008 | 11:59

    @ Sim + nuf

    You’re idiots, it wasn’t made by the US government. It’s an Aronofsky film (Not a mainstream director by any stretch of the imagination)and it’s based on a book, this is just a fact, but if you need to make your inferior/boring lives seem mysterious then yes, it’s all an evil plot and Hussein and Bin Laden sent subliminal messages through this movie as well.

    Good work Bleez, was I right or was I right? I knew it had to get in here somewhere :).
    This is a favourite of mine, since I saw it the first time 4-5 years ago, I always answer that ‘favourite movie’ question with this one. Aronofsky is this era’s Lynch, this movie is dark beyond any movie I’ve seen before. This isn’t (as conspirators and other nuts would say) a propaganda film, this is a brilliant adaptation of Selby’s book, it focues on addiction, whether it be to drugs, media, money and the downward spiral that one will follow should they choose to follow a dying/dead dream. The title says it all it’s the lifecycle of an ill-fated dream that the main characters follow, you can see this through Harry’s trips in which he chases Marion out to the end of the pier.
    Anyway, it’s not for anyone, it’s not out to teach people, just show the stories of these fictious characters, and if you do pick something up for it, then that’s just fine :).
    5/5, No one can change my rating on it, brilliant, perfect movie in my eyes.

    Sidenotes: Aronofsky is releasing another movie in the next few years called The Wrestler, let’s hope it’s good.
    Also, if anyone can find a torrent of ‘The War Zone’ (Tim Roth, 1999) I would greatly appreciate it :)

    This movie is awesome. If you dislike it because you think is depressing, go watch http://imdb.com/title/tt0284713/. If you think its bad because its anti-drug, get a life hippie. If you think its awesome because Jennifer Connelly does ‘ass-to-ass’, you are so unbeliveably stupid - you probably should go kill yourself.

    all the hype of best movie eva about this and donnie darko… so i watch them finally and while watching im thinking…. ok something amazing i will see later on in the movie that will set it apart from the rest of the garbage coming from usa/canada….. but nope.

    dont know why everyone is raving aout these kind of movies. you probably have to have very low standards and never have watched any movies outside the western movie industry. just your average pretentious cack.

    February 21st, 2008 | 12:05

    Also, as everyone knows, the soundtrack to this movie is incredible it was composed by Clint Mansell who also did the music for Aronofsky’s latest movie ‘The Fountain’ (the movie itself was disappointing in my opinion, but the music was incredible). I recommend the soundtrack for RFAD, it’s heart wrenchingly beautiful.

    @41
    I watch a good assortment of movies Korean, Japanese and a hell of a lot of European, I have also found that most USA/Canada films are c**p or rip offs from other countries.
    I have found that the more hyped up something is, the less you get out of it, because you are (as you said) waiting for something exciting to happen and you unconsciously raise your standard incredibly high. The first time I saw RFAD, it was very subjective to what was going on around me, I had friends on drugs (I only ever smoked a little pot bi/quarter-annually :P, I’m not hardcore and I’ll admit it) and was unaware of how incredible this movie was, so the first time I watched it (with a friend, also doesn’t get in to drugs much… anymore), I had to pause the movie twice because he kept running out of the room because it f**ked with his head, bear in mind what was happen to the people around us… Anyway, as terrible as it was to see the path that was similar to what some of our then friends would go down, it was still a highly emotional and life changing film for me.

    I saw this movie a couple of weeks ago after hearing it was a fantastic movie ever since it was showed in the cinema. And it is exactly that. Perfect. It’s a strong movie, so be careful if you’re faint of heart. STRONGLY RECOMMENDED!

    I’ve compared TURKiSO’s version with this ( http://www.mininova.org/tor/1097677 ) x264 version, and the x264 version is a lot smaller and has better overall quality.

    Also, #39, Pura, here’s a torrent for The War Zone (1999). It should be the one you’re looking for: http://www.mininova.org/tor/1034714

    so if you dont like this movie you must be a drug addict or like rambo? you guys sound like radical muslims who get angry when someone offends their prophet.

    this movie is overrated, usually liked by teenager emos. look at you talking about dildos and asses and what not… yeah very impressive movie, lol.

    its a bit better than usual holywood garbage, yet it still has nothing on many non-Western movies like a few already mentioned. But to watch those, you must know how to read subtitles, which seems to be a difficult task for many sheep.

    How many “ass to ass” references were there in this posting? Is that indicative of the double digit IQs who make up the majority of this movie’s fans or rlslog in general? Yes, Jennifer Connelly is hot…do we need the lewd allusions? Is that all you remember or just the “best part” for you? I thought the movie was artistically impressive, but it’s a one-time viewing at best as it has no redeeming quality. Did we really need this film to see that drug abuse is bad? The depravity in the film is only surpassed by that in this thread. Disgraceful but not surprising.

    I do alot of drugs aswell and I love this movie. They seem to have very much fun when they do drugs in this movie :) It was the withdrawls that messed most of ‘em up.. and as you saw the girls (Ellen Burstyn & Jennifer Connely) were happy and the boys (Jared Leto & Marlon Wayans) were sad at the end of the movie..

    OMG! Kudos to the RLSLOG staff for the Pick!!!
    just for the record - awesome movie!
    It is NOT overrated! it deserves to be seen, at least once.
    and just for the record, my IQ is over 150 and I still enjoy the whole movie as a concept A LOT!
    It has simply the best music score in probably a decade - Clint Mansell’s and the movie theme is overabused - you can’t mistake it.
    The adaptation of the book is said to be one of the most faithful to the original, with Selby himself having a small role I think, though the guy died shortly around the release date.
    The film IS disturbing in the way it is meant to be. Aronofsky makes one hell of a move, with great impact on the viewer.
    All the little sneazers here mention and want to remember Connelly’s assy scene, but want to forget that it was intertwined with the ECT brain shocking one. A daringly bald move by the director to let it blend in. btw, I am sorry to disappoint you, Connelly’s thingie is not seen then, there are supposed to be at least two stand-ins for her, for those scenes particularly. Go see the other films of Aronofsky, too, and the ones scored by Clint Mansell too.(i know, sahara and doom, i know…)
    This is a movie with an Impact. should be served to underage teens, side by side with real abortion instruction videos, to get the hidden picture, so to speak. The choice is yours, the consequences - too. Undeniably.
    Now, make you WISE move. go ahead and try to mock me ;-)
    Once again, great Pick, RLSLOG!

    if you thought this movie was frightening, shocking, disturbing or depressive then you still haven’t lived a real life, probably a teenage bopper who watches too many hollywood movies and mtv…. or at least that undeveloped mentality.

    this movie was ok, nothing great or impressive.

    and for the guy who thinks he can win an argument by mentioning he has an higher iq than 150…. you still have a lot to learn in life obviously.

    Easy crowd pleaser for sure, the director tried very hard to use all the cliches in filmmaking to get the movie noticed.

    Throw in the mix some drugs, some violence, quasi-intellectual blah, some emo overacting, some asses with dildos and you have a cult classic for teenagers and quasi-artistic fartknockers who will tell their unfortunate grandkids how amazing it is, roflcopter.

    you obviously didn’t read No79 and plain thought that out of thin air, right? go learn how to properly put things in and out of context and then start making any sense and opinions later.
    otherwise, you are putting yourself in limbo.
    I know for sure that “A” higher IQ is no guarantee for other good qualities, like good grammar for example ;-P or the ability to sympathize or think independently.
    But recognizing a film for what it does inevitably brings a lot of wackos just to stay contrary and plain criticizing for a useless sake.
    If you got a brain you’ll see it for yourself, no elitist division would be of any use then. And the film deserves to get the credit and attention.

    semdd, no you have an iq above 150, we cant understand your amazing reasoning, it is to high for us to grasp. not everyone can pretend to be a corksniffing quasi intellectual and then pretend he is not, even after he got unmasked ;)

    poster 97/KK got it, nail on the head.

    I find a disturbing lack of intelligence in people who do not get the message of this film. This is NOT a propaganda film and the main message isn’t even about drugs. Although they are the means to an end that the director wanted to achieve.

    You do realise that Aronofsky created the fast-motion montage on the drug sprees, the diluting eye (which has been used time after time since) and it is very rare you see the whole of 3 individuals stories (in a western film) in real-time. That’s the truth, read up on it if you must, but you won’t come back with a retort I’m afraid.

    @45 (Ole)
    Thank you so very, very much, I have been looking for this movie for a very long time, my local music/dvd store doesn’t take individual overseas orders, which unfortunately this would be. So thanks :).

    @Nay-sayers on western films
    I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again, there are some great europeon, korean and japanese movies out there (Grave of the fireflies will forever stay etched in my memories) and although Western movies come out more frequently, there are still some great films. Part of the reason there is so much trash is because of the money that gets thrown at anything with Bruce Willis or Russell Crowe in it, but this movie RFAD and a handful of others are absolute gems, and no ammount of un-thought-out cynicism can change that.
