Rendition 2007 DVDRIP XViD-HLS

If you decided to wait for a scene release for this movie rather than settle for the p2p one that came out just a few hours ago, then you should now be quite happy. Group HLS made “Rendition” available for you in DVDRip quality. As we only just posted about this movie earlier today, you should check out Martin’s post “Rendition 2007 DVDRip Xvid-TFE” for more details. I don’t know what the difference is between the two rips, and rumor has it that the quality is exactly the same, so if you already got the TFE DVDRip you don’t have to get this. Check out the samples to see if you can spot anything. To me, the quality looks perfect, which is very impressive considering the movie is just over 2 hours long and fits on one CD. In any case, I will keep you updated if I find differences between them.

EDIT: Rendition.2007.PROPER.DVDRip.XviD-TURKiSO is now out and about. Apparently, the reason for TURKiSO’s PROPER is that HLS’s release has CBR audio. The release got a major facelift however, and now you get AC3 quality audio on 2 CDs at a better resolution of 672×288. Video bitrate is 1145 kb/s. Until next time…

EDIT #2: Just to inform you that the HLS release was nuked due to two reasons. One is the CBR audio that I mentioned last night, and the second is “[nuked: fake.pre_not.pred.by.HLS]“. In other words, the HLS release was a fake. Either way, the TFE and HLS releases were both good enough to watch but if you want the best quality all around you are advised to go for the Rendition.2007.PROPER.DVDRip.XviD-TURKiSO version. And thus the saga ends.

    no difference between these two different rips? really? Cuz the p2p release seems blurry during the darker scenes.

    Unfortunately, this is one of the most cut-together movies on Middle Eastern subjects of the past years. Badly written, conventionally filmed and directed with a plot that has one of the worst (= illogical) endings I’ve ever seen and characters that at best are clueless (especially Jake Gyllenhall’s one, and you can see that the actor had a hard time to make his lines at least barely believable, and – surprise – Meryll Streep’s one, whom she basically gives the same kind of attitude as in The Devil Wears Prada). The Arab backstory is so absurd that it makes you laugh, totally unbelievable. Please believe me, I was hoping a lot that this was a better film – the concept of “extraordinary rendition” would have been worth it, it is one of the most excruciating ones of the past years. Big disappointment and a lot of wasted money and talent.

    Thanks to the uploaders, your work is appreciated in any case.

    David, you do know downloading a movie and then just editing it to make it a 2 CD, isn’t a proper 2 CD. It would be even worse than this 1 CD, because it would be the same quality on 2 CD’s. The only way a 2 CD upload by you would matter is if you have the retail DVD and you ripped it yourself into 2 CD quality. If you did that, thanks for the time man! But if you just downloaded this and made it so it’d be 1.4GBs instead of 700MB, then you just made a 2 CD upload with 1 CD quality. Looks like a good movie…not sure which one I’m going to download. Will probably wait for a few more comments to see if the quality on both releases is equally as good.

    sample differs in file size,
    checked them in video player,
    looks same

    Runned both in g-spot, exactly same audio & video format;

    fps, aspect almost 99,9% the same.

    guess they ’stole’ it

    @ euronix,

    Saw this in the Cinema. I don’t agree with your criticisms regards this film. Although no Oscar winner, it was definitely watchable, with some good moments.

    Excruciating? Get a grip, is it your time of the month or something.? You would make a good RT critic, keep drinking the vinegar, pal. ;)

  17. Respect-My-Authority
    January 18th, 2008 | 23:24

    @13

    That only means that that group HLS, and whoever ripped the p2p release, use the usually settings for the video/audio. Almost all releases have the same frame rate, and alot of them use the same format. Doesn’t mean they stole it.

  18. David Webb
    January 18th, 2008 | 23:24

    @12

    Trust me man Im not a n00b.I encoded the DVDR by EDGE into 2CD. I also used the original AC3 5.1 audio, and gave it higher bitrate. If you didnt hear about the DVDR here are some links:

    http://www.ilovetorrents.com/details.php?id=65333
    http://www.bitsoup.org/details.php?id=116514

    It was released by a P2P group and i only found it on these trackers but its the actual DVDR

  19. Respect-My-Authority
    January 18th, 2008 | 23:25

    @13 again

    Look at the Juno release. The P2P release, and the HLS release. They were obviously different sources, and they had the same frame rate and format.

    Don’t talk crap if you can’t back it up, and the only facts you give are pointless.

    n00b. I didnt steal it I used the DVDR by EDGE and encoded in 2CDs. I also used forced subs so that proves that i did not in fact steal it. the bitrate is also higher than all the other releases so stfu.

    “which is very impressive considering the movie is just over 2 hours long and fits on one CD”…. are people putting these on CD’s cause you can fit 9 hours on one DVD5?

  24. David Webb
    January 18th, 2008 | 23:30

    @ kolddayz

    all the releases for this movie will have the same FPS because the source DVDR had a 23.976 frame rate. the resolution 640×272 is very commonly used just as the MP3 128kbit/s audio. looks like this is your first time dealing with movie encoding and such so again, stfu.

  25. Respect-My-Authority
    January 18th, 2008 | 23:32

    @ 23 mcf3778

    You can’t put 9 hours on a DVD5 if you want good quality. Unless you are talking about making a Data CD for DivX Standalone’s, in which case you can put about 6 movies on, if they are 700MB each.

  26. Respect-My-Authority
    January 18th, 2008 | 23:34

    @23 again

    But yes they are talking about CDs. A CDR is 700MB, and that’s why DVDrips, etc, are usually 700MB. So they fit on one CD. However, a movie that is close to two hours, or over two hours, is usually made into a 2 CD (1,400MB) rip, to sustain the quality.

  28. shadowsniper
    January 18th, 2008 | 23:36

    Thanks for this…
    However, i’m gonna wait a bit longer, I still think this should be 2 CDs and 659k for the video seems awfully low. Given all the controversy surrounding HLS and the Juno DVDScr, i guess there’s a chance this is just a re-encode of the TFE release. I think there’ll be a PROPER sometime tomorrow…

  29. David Webb
    January 18th, 2008 | 23:36

    @ 23

    they are putting this movie on 1CD because, imo, they are stupid. the bitrate is too low for the average experienced user (not someone like kolddayz). although the scene doesnt prohibit this but i think the rule should be that if the video is over 105 minutes the size should be 2CD and anything else should be nuked. but thats just what i think

    Same quality as a single movie, Just fill up a DVD9 using nero and burn to the HDD then use a copy program and compress it to a dvd5. I have done this alot of times looking at the quality and there is no difference… or you have superman’s eyes and where do i buy some of those?

  37. David Webb
    January 18th, 2008 | 23:41

    @30

    the GRoM release gives best quality since its 2CD and 1043kbit/s bitrate. This release has 659kbit/s and the one by TFE has 663kbit/s. Also both the releases use MP3 128kbit/s stereo audio and the GRoM release uses AC3 5.1 448kbit/s audio.

  38. mcf3778

    I’ve put about 3-4 hours on a DVD5, and it looks like it’s less quality even then. So I’m sure putting even more would make it worse. But regardless if your way actually works, you ALWAYS lose quality when converting AVI files to DVD files. That’s why I prefer to make Data DVDs for my DivX Standalone. That way I fit 6 movies on one disc, and keep the highest quality possible.

  44. mcf3778
    January 18th, 2008 | 23:51

    It works… the compression on average is about 65% and that right where a retail DVD-DL is with a copy. I have gotten no complaints so far and these people are playing them on SD and HD players and TV’s.. Its worth looking in to for seasons of shows where you do not want to use 18 DVD’s.. Also good for the four SAW movies to fit on one disk…

    I don’t know David…he says that he can put 8 hours on a DVD9, compress it to fit on a DVD5, and it will still be good quality. I have a hard time believing it so I just want to try myself. However, I probably won’t use this method, as I already have a DivX Standalone, and the quality is better if you just make a Data DVD and keep the original AVI files.

    David Webb:

    1) Your release isn’t a scene release
    2) Your release has hard coded subs

    Nice of you to make the effort but you can’t be upset that a scene group has priority.

  103. To David Webb
    January 19th, 2008 | 04:42

    @2 David Webb:
    IF turkiso had not released their 2cd/672px version AND you had not made that glitch to hardcode the subs into the videostream (instead of muxing the subs into the avi as just another stream, or just adding the .srt files with the avi), THEN your release would be enormously sought after!!!

    I personally would be sad if this first time try of yours would already be the last one. When I think a movie is interesting, than I always try to get the best quality (image resolution, image quality, audio) available. I personally do not care if it comes from a group like pukka or from an anonymous individual with not strings to the scene – I enjoy happily, whatever the source. I’d like to see many more 2cd releases with horizontal res of at least 640px up to 720px. If my machine wouldn’t stutter on HD releases (h264 [AVC] 1280×720px), I would go for them if they’d show up timely.

    So please keep it up as long as it is worth to you! As long as you learn something from it and you gain more than you loose, just do it. BUT be sure that your uploads can not easily be traced back to you. This includes comments about uploads, I think, even though IANAL. Better have ’someone else’ commenting about the torrents.

    WHere are the subs for the turkiso rip ? I cant find em’

  106. To David Webb
    January 19th, 2008 | 05:09

    77 David Webb:
    btw: The subtitles on DVD-R are always IMAGES (bitmap files). So GKnot could never automagically create ASCII-text subtitles (as e.g. in .srt or .sub files).

    You have to apply OCR (Optical Character Recognition) onto these DVD-R subtitles! I personally have often used the free app ‘SubRip’ for this purpose, but there are also other free apps, e.g. ‘DVDSubEdit’. You start up that program, load the subtiles (.idx, .sub) that you have demuxed from the DVD-R (maybe one doesn’t have to demux them first, maybe you can load the entire .vob file(s), I have always demuxed the subtitlestream as .idx, .sub), and then the subrip-app tries to figure out what part of every subtitle image is an individual letter, marks it, makes a guess, and lets you decide if its guess is correct. If it is correct you just press ok, if not, you correct it by typing in the correct letter (capital I instead of minuscule l instead of cipher 1 … etc.). This you have to do once for every type of every character (roman, cursive). From then on the OCR process continues automatically, only asking you when there is a new, so far unseen character.

    Finally the app lets you save subtitle file in ASCII-text format (e.g. a .srt file).

    This one is much smaller now than the bitmap subtitle .idx, .sub of the DVD. AND the srt or sub ASCII-text file gives the end-user the huge advantage of being able to switch the subs on or off, to change the size, color, and position of the subtitles, and makes it much easier to correct for timing problems.

    You can learn everything and more about subtitle ripping from sites like e.g. doom9.org or digital-digest.

  108. To David Webb
    January 19th, 2008 | 05:18

    I forgot another important advantage of .srt (or the like):
    You can change the actual FONT that the glyphs are rendered in, change it from regular to bold e.g., and you can change the transparency. That’s what I do to make them less obtrusive.

    @ 94

    It doesnt really matter to me what you say about my release but you are a liar. you have not downloaded my release yet as i am the only seeder at the moment and nobody else has finished downloading this. also the different in bitrate over mine and turkisos release is about 100kbit/s so that is not a huge difference you could spot with your bare eye.

    To everyone else thx. I appreciate the comments and support next time ill just encode the subs separately.

  112. To Mr. X
    January 19th, 2008 | 07:00

    Are you serious?

    Q: Where the subs are in the Turkiso release?

    A: I downloaded that the Turkiso release via netload (thanks for the links btw!). When I unrared the four part RAR that came from netload, I got a folder containing three ascii files and four folders: CD1, CD2, sample, subs.
    Obviously, the subs are in a RAR file in the folder ’subs’:
    turkiso-renditiona.idx
    turkiso-renditiona.sub
    turkiso-renditionb.idx
    turkiso-renditionb.sub
    But by now you’ve probably figured that out yourself.

    in the last few days many people have reported that Rapidshare is down or offline that might have been a small problem and it was down for certain countries. Today Rapidshare is down completely for the whole world. The premium users are outraged over this some sudden downtime that they have been experiencing for a while now. We sent an email to rapidshare about this issue however we received no response from rapidshare after 15 hours later. There was no offical notice on rapidshare’s website about the downtimes that has been going on for about an week now.

    Maybe the Rapidshare owners are saving enough many to buy the “High-End” PCs for the contest who knows unless we get an official response from Rapidshare we may never know what the real reason is behind the recent downtimes that has been happening to many people and not to the rest.

    A: Subs for the english parts as well were manufactured exclusively for my personal viewing pleasure. And that is me, Eternal Dyslixec, THE foreigner.

    @38 Rendition:

    Still considering your question, I realize that most U.S. citizens don’t know any foreign language (No – not because they were dumb, but mostly because there just aren’t so many different languages around). So they are totally unfamiliar with the fact that there is a huge difference between 1.) being able to read or write in a foreign language (not really hard, once you know the language) and 2.) being able to follow spoken conversations; especially following conversations held by characters and on topics unbeknown to you, sometimes mumbling or whispering or against background noise, and using slang vocabulary.

    Listening comprehension is actually *very* *much* harder than reading comprehension.

    I downloaded the Turkiso version of this and am burning to disc using Divx and I can’t get the sound to work properly is this anything to do with CBR audio?? DO i have to have a codec installed or something?
