This movie is not meant to “assure [people] of [their] disbelief in God…” All Bill Maher is doing is asking logical questions about religion. Great to see that you are so open minded… until someone starts asking questions that actually make you think.
If your religious beliefs hold up against questioning, then great… but if they do not, don’t you think you should ask questions and look for an answer yourself?

Well, I’m just happy the right kind of comments didn’t get deleted. Surely, what killerblackman or bushisachildkiller have to say is way more insightful than the censored out “basket case” analogy.
By the way, the movie is not anti-religious. All Bill does is asks legitimate religious questions from a bunch of religious people who were seemingly not that bright to begin with, religion or not. As I was afraid, it’s pretty dumbed down and the editing/direction is mostly atrocious. Bill is still funny enough to make it worth watching but I think he wasted an good opportunity with this one.
V/A quality is good enough, about 9/8.

just watched it. it is a good movie, but not to be taken too serious. it’s more a comedy than a documentary. the cutting is quite unfair some times and it’s rather provoking.

Man, the movie has it’s fun moments. The Dutch Stoner accidentaly lighting his har on fire is a classic. A friend of mine who happened to to stoned actually did the same thing. He also looked like this guy, that must be a sign! A sign from the holy smoke!

Bill Maher is an idiot… you can’t argue with crazy people. Even if you prove to them why they are crazy, they still go on thinking they were right. That’s what makes the crazy in the first place.

Seriously though I went to see this in theatres, one of the very, very few movies I’ve paid for in the last year and this movie was great overall, kind of funny, a little creepy at times but great. He seemed a little douchey at times which irked me but loved the movie. I think I’m going to burn this copy I really want to see it again.

This is an awesome movie. If you claim to believe in some form of religion watch this if you have the b4lls. There is so much proof for the idi0cy of religious beliefs in this movie, to me as an atheist I felt ashamed for their stupid1ty.

Well, the basket analogy was really great IMO. I don’t think they had read it before deleting. I doubt it will be as exciting to read it again without the backdrop of the other comments which lead to the buildup resulting in that culminating comment. Actually “agnostic atheist” IS a real term.. it means that the person doesn’t believe in anything, but also doesn’t go around saying that they have proof that they are right. What you are thinking of is an “agnostic theist” … they are the ones that think there may be something but don’t go around saying they know which one is right.
There is also the “apathetic agnostic”, which doesn’t give a crap and thinks it is pretty much irrelevant.
