Group SAPHiRE has released a DVDRip of Bill Maher’s documentary that examines our world’s religions. That’s not a typo, it’s the actual title. IMDb rating is 7.7/10. I watched the DVDScr that came out a few weeks ago and recommend downloading this. Usually I find Bill Maher annoying but he was alright in this.
Bill Maher interviews some of religion’s oddest adherents. Muslims, Jews and Christians of many kinds pass before his jaundiced eye. Maher goes to a Creationist Museum in Kentucky, which shows that dinosaurs and people lived at the same time 5000 years ago. He talks to truckers at a Truckers’ Chapel. (Sign outside: “Jesus love you.”) He goes to a theme park called Holy Land in Florida. He speaks to a rabbi in league with Holocaust deniers. He talks to a Muslim musician who preaches hatred of Jews. Maher finds the unlikeliest of believers and, in a certain Vatican priest, he even finds an unlikely skeptic.

The whole movie was crap. they probably deleted half the stuff. He interviews people who don’t know anything about religion. He adds his smart comments and flashbacks for no reason and interviews people who cant speak English properly, making them look like idiots.
If your going to watch this movie to learn about other religions well dont, his only goal is to go to ppl and make a fool out of all the religions, so people could be like him.
He only takes the bad parts and the stuff the media tells them and concludes that religion is bad.
This is coming from a failed comedian and the person who brings you Borat. This is also coming from a guy who had no idea why he went to church and why his mother, whom was a jew didnt go with them.

Very funny documentary. Not objective, not at all. In the end he maybe gets a bit too overdramatic, but that doesn't matter. This isn't a dry documentary about religion, it's just making a mock of it. In a hilarious way.

He interviews people who are very knowledgeable in their chosen religion and also the normal people who happen to follow. He merely put's forth common sense comments, that show how ridiculous religion is. That is the premise of the movie.
It's not to "learn about religions". It's to show how ridiculous they are. Something you would agree with if you ever took the time to pull your nose out of whatever religions scripture you follow. And took a look at what we know in this day and age as truth through scientific research. What we know about history, and previous "Gods" that humans had worshiped. Long before Jesus was said to exist, there were God's before him that lead almost exactly the same life. If that doesn't light a bulb above your head, then you are truly a lost cause.
If everything requires a creator, then God himself requires a Creator, and so on forth forever. If you say he doesn't and just always was, then the premise on which you believe has no more validity than anyone else's theories about how we came to be.
When you can tell me why you don't believe in all the other God's humanity has ever believed in, I will tell you why I do not believe in yours.

All these discussion can be cut short by one simple fact (and it _is_ a fact proven by loads of statistics and research):
The lower the IQ of a person, the more likely that he is "religious". So believing in a "god" is simply a form of "being not very intelligent" or (to rephrase it for those more simple-minded people) "believing in god = you are dumb".
This guy can only attack the peaceful ones like Christians, you can see how carefully this guy was attacking muslims, since MUSLIMS are the ones who kill those who critizise their religion. Christians and Jews dont kill in modern time Europe people who critizise their religion.

Has a lot to do with poverty as many of the poorest and least educated as opposed to proposition of simply low IQ are much more religious.
For people in undeveloped parts of the wold locked in poverty many believe their only hope is divine intervention.

Well, it's not quite as simple as that.
It's not that your "dumb" in the literal sense. It's more you just lack knowledge. You can't type out every word in the dictionary off the top of your head. But does that make you a stupid person? No, just lacking of that information

More just need's to be done to educate people about other religions and what different scientific fields have discovered about our history and everything around us.
Christian charities are fighting back. People see those commercial's asking you to donate to help a child in Africa, but what they don't see is that they aren't just helping the people out. They are there trying to convert everyone to their religion. They are exploiting the situation of the African people, to benefit their beliefs. It is quite sickening.
Sadly most government's are run by religious people, who have low IQ's. This world would be so much better if leading scientist's were the one's who ran the country. We would finally have common sense and rationality in the government. And laws that give us all our rights to freedom, so long as it does not harm another person.

Yes, and that's exactly the point! Most people who are religious don't know squat about their own regligions! They follow a weirdly dressed guy in a weird building or on TV, but they never think about why they are religious, and what consequences that has on the rest of the world. Plus like #17 said, most religious people are too stupid to think about it.

I've met hundreds of scientists in my time as a student, and I do not want them to run my country! The most succesfull ones are often ego-maniacs who like attention a bit too much. Plus 'rational thinking' won't work all the time, since many parts of (good) leadership involve instinct about what people want and feel.
Religion isn't perfect, but neither is science. Although I prefer science because it actually has some credibility.

Few things:
1.
A politician never solves any of the real world problems. He simply get "the experts" to do it for'em. When was the last time a politician himself went to the battlefields? Never!
Similarly, the religious nut jobs, don't know much and making them "the expert" or an oracle to discuss everything with is simply bad logic.
2.
I'm a grad student taking physics and out of curiosity I read all religious texts. Its amazing how a lot of what I'm studying actually comes directly from these religious text and I'm just shocked that no one sees it. For example,
Reading the theory of everything, Steven Hawking wants us to believe that the entire universe was created out of nothing. And its true. Whereas religious texts says "the exact" same thing centuries ago.
3.
The dooms day scenario to me is quite "scientifically" explained in religious texts. I mean, how did someone knew that the world is round or there are other worlds like ours centuries before we were able to "scientifically" prove it?
4.
We won't believe in 7 Heavens but we would believe in 11 dimension? And where did the scientists came up with the number 11? ever wondered?
Answer: 3-Dimensions (as we know of) + 1-Dimension(to travel in other dimensions) + 7-Dimensions(imperfect world) = 11.
But isn't 7-Heavens a common theme in many religious texts?
I can go on and on but it isn't worth it. A person who is curious would find the knowledge and there is nothing to be scared of. After all you only get to live once
Why is it that in the argument of science vs. religion, the burden of proof falls entirely on the scientific side, while blind faith seems to be good enough for religion???
And, are there any major differences between this and the screener that would warrant downloading both?

I am not debating Douche Maher. I am commenting on the under-educated and unsupported "feelings" posted on this thread. Public schools have done well in producing more unthinking drones.
Evolution is used as the counterpoint to religion's explanation for existence. How many people refute together both religion and evolution? That's a part of why I mentioned it.
Charles Darwin said: “The impossibility of conceiving that this grand and wondrous universe, with our conscious selves, arose through chance, seems to me the chief argument for the existence of God.” Even the man responsible for illuminating evolution to the world did not see it as mutually exclusive from religion.
Since there is no proof of the absence of God, then, the belief there is no God is predicated upon "faith", an essential principle of religion. Hence, atheism IS a religion unto itself, albeit a lot less wordy in its presentation.
The appearant lack of proof is not absolute proof of nonexistence. Remember back to when virii were not seen by the primitive microscopes,
yet they were there and were eventually recognized. Newton's Laws, once thought to be the end all, are now relegated to specific
conditions/states in the universe, and other theories are accepted… for now.
The %age of non-religious Nobel prize winners seems a little high. I have seen 90% on a quick look on Google. I'd like to see a primary source before believing in the veracity of this number. Even if true, this is meaningless since this is a belief based on a faith that appearant absence of proof is proof of absolute absence. Next, schools have become progressively non-religious since post-WWII. Not surprisingly, when indoctrination of atheism is the prevailing viewpoint in schools, the product of that education, students, will also believe the same. Additionally, majorities do not necessarily make for correct thinking. Currently, Anthropogenic Global Warming is billed as "overwhelmingly" supported by scientists. AGW is finally, slowly being exposed for the non-scientific, trumped-up social activism that it is by a growing number of scientists speaking out against the "majority."

As to intelligent design, if you mean that something other than randomness created the parameters and matter for the universe, then yes, I agree it is worthy of consideration. It took us more time to figure out "Gravity" but hey if you were around back then you would have solved the problem, the moment you came out of your mother's womb. Calling others "dumb" doesn't make you smart.

This is by far the dumbest doc I ever watched. Some dumbass comedian wanna be trying to make fun of other peoples believes. purposely stubborn, judgmental, one directional, and mostly what a waste of time for those of us who had to bare watching it.
