Releaselog’s Birthday Competition: First Entries
Here’s the first update on the entries we received so far. As I promised, we will keep you updated with the progress of our competition by presenting 3 or 4 entries every day. The good thing is we already received over 100 entries and it’s just 24 hours from the beginning. This will be a tough choice! Here are first artworks from our readers, which may serve well as motivation. The most of you sent a graphic work so far – logo, wallpaper or banner, but we had few original attempts too. Good work everyone, keep it up, the prizes are waiting!
Note: The below are simply examples and are not the “best” the “worst” or whatever, its just a random pick. We will decide which will win on Saturday. Dont fret if your entry is not shown.

Easily number 3! Number 2 is so simple and those black infraction lines ruin it even more tbh 1 just looks like someone took a wallpaper cut out the blue squares put in a duke nukem logo and wrote release log!

It would be nice to vote on the many entries you have.
Although these probably don’t represent the best of what you’ve had; I agree that number three is an excellent banner – if it was a logo instead (designed to fit a bg colour) it would be even better.
The top two are plain in my opinion (same old PS tricks) – but then I work with graphics all day long, so my opinion is probably a little biased.
the original so far is still best. its blue and white muster decry a pokemon innocence that belies the actual content. Without reading the site the design would tell you it’s a wholesome showplace for people to love and prattle about freeware they can get.
the whole genius is destroyed by making the design as obvious as its content.

Don’t know why no one else likes the last one. The candles and all… so fitting with the theme of the contest! I thought the last one was original and very fitting to the theme!

i you look closely to the third one it will show you the 2 pillars (candles if you like) in it too.. this will also be my fav. of these 4 random contestants. the 3 other feel and breath template all over them… (actually 3 does too.. but just a better one then the rest)

to make it simple
though maybe i’d make a cutout of RLSlog and photgraph the shadow in a nice setting… couple minutes work.. winning result
2 and 3. maybe 1 but that symbol on the left is dumb
First – gradient horror on the left, two simple texts on the right, and i don’t like what i’m seeing in the background.
Second – Well, i knew i saw it somewhere, contest work made with tutorials? Lawl, no thanks.
Third – It could be pretty original and good looking but the border of the text, and both of the fonts are just ruining it for me.
Fourth – I don’t comment the ps-virgin type of work. Well, let’s be honest – we all made that kind of things when we were starting with ps.
Wow, those all look great. I’m lovin’ the two candles in the fourth one =D. I hadn’t thought of making a banner before… Hmm, I guess I’m better of editing others’ photos.

I like the design of the first one, the font of the second one but the quality of the last one. I don’t care for the third one at all.

Looks like a lot of brush-work to me. I do like the first one though. This is my 9-5, so I’m not sure if I’ll be entering…we’ll see..

I vote for #2. But they all are very good. I like the “shattered” look the best though.

you need to get some old school bbs graphics in there. ami/x or Vision-x, pcb stuff
yea, i like the broken one, that kinda reminded me of the matrix. and no, scoopex, they’re not all “sh1t”. They are excellent pieces of art. I noticed how learned you are in the art field and I felt you needed to recognize their talent. Go make a logo, and I’ll be sure to look it over, then call it “sh1t” just because losers like you should be banned.

3rd looks HOT
number 2 stands out, but has too much black empty space around the image, take some of that back a bit and it would be more pronounced.
The first two entries will suit the website. They flow well with the colors here. For those voting the 3rd submission, do you have any sense of art at all? How will that banner go with the blue background and everything else?
Anyhow, its a cheesy one after all. I’d vote for the second *thumbs up*

What’s with all the (rude, aggressive) negative comments, so you don’t like some of them, that’s fine just leave it at that, there’s no need to bash people. This competition is open to everybody, and that includes people who are new to it, all this bashing has probably stopped a lot of people even attempting it.

When the comp first started i knew i didnt stand a chance,i seen better finger paintings from my kids then i can even think of making.But thought what the heck ill give it a shot.And now i see this random pick of whats been put in so far i can confirm i wont enter,lol

The 2nd one is a complete rip off of a tut in the “Photoshop Top Secrets” dvd, i thought you had to create something that is urs and original

@91- I use Photoshop and Cinema 4D. DL them, you should be able to make something similar to these in about a year. Maybe RLS will have a contest again next year. lol

I have Verizon’s Palm Pre Coupled with and can’t seem to watch any momentary display videos on the browser. I’ve tried to download adobe shaft actor but it won’t seem to lessen me. Anyone comprehend what to do?
