@49,

No matter what war our military is fighting they deserve our respect and support. It is funny that the WWII vets you praise would tell you the very same thing. Our military doesn't deserve people painting them as baby killers and rapists no matter what war they are fighting. I have family members in the military serving in Iraq (and a brother that served in Vietnam) and De Palma isn't doing them one single favor by making this film. Not one. This is a hit piece by the Bush hating liberals. They can hate Bush all they please but leave the military out of it.

If you don't think crap like this movie gets more soldiers killed in Iraq then get real. Ask my Marine nephew who just returned from Iraq. He will set you straight. Terrorists eat this propaganda for breakfast and then go plant IEDs to kill Americans or innocent Iraqis to get their rocks off. With friends like you and De Palma our military sure doesn't need any more enemies but then De Palma is making sure to keep the terrorists motivated anyway.

20 minutes into this movie and it looks like one of those fake documentaries. Even documentaries today are spilling crap into stupid minds. TLC use to be around learning, now it's about decorations and other trite garbage.

Nova and Discovery are the only real, true story tellers in this information of misinformation.

Life doesn't lie, only your minds do.

This movis is not necessary.. the soldiers that committed the acts are in jail. What more do u want, do you want the soldiers that are innocent to die becasue anti americans sentiment is flared up to the point where someone innocent is killed. This shows the armed forces of america in a negative light as a WHOLE. That is not fair. This movie is propagandy for terrorist, becasue Ted Bundy was a serial killer should all americans be thought of as serial killers,,of course not. Oh and too the person who made the comment about the vietnam war..pls someone tell him were living in the year 2007. In the vietnam era all things were censored, just about the opposite now, i.e. this movie in fact. No matter what our stance is about the war, we owe it to the innocent men and women obeying orders to go there and fight, not becasue they want to be there but becasue if they didnt they would go to jail, we owe them our thanks that we can type in a forum like this during a time of war and as such we should refrain from doing anything that would harm them in any way. Take a breath and put urself in thier situation and then think, "How would I want people back home to act while my life is on the line?" Thanks

"Do you actually think these men are representative of our military? Of course they aren’t. Do you think this movie does anyone any good but the terrorists? What purpose does it serve?"

You see that's exactly what I mean. Nowhere did I claim this small group of soldiers represent the totality of what's going on. Nobody can 'actually' capture what ever happened in 'any' event. Look at the The War series by Ken Burns. A greatly covered series, yet you and I know there's still thousands of untold stories waiting to be told. And I don't mean negative stories here, I mean soldier's stories that are probably just as important as the ones shown in the shows.

My point is it would be impossible to get every single WW2 veteran story.

DePalma's supposed agenda is to persuade the public to stop the war by putting out this film. My guess is he remembers that real war footage of the Vietnam 'war' and soldier's confessions played a part in the collapse to continue that campaign.

Whether that's his real aim or not is up for specualtion. Although I doubt he'll make any money from this film.

My point is..Why can't we see this fictionalized account of what really happened? Remember, this war-crime really happened and yet we conveniently did not see much press coverage. Don't you find something wrong with that? Do you believe it's much more important to cover the claims of a prostitue/stripper who was cuaght lying about being raped, than to cover what a group of American soldiers comitted on a 14 year-old child....... a child!!! and then killed her along with her family! This is horrendous!!!

When I was growing up I always wondered why people hated Vietnam veterans so much? What did they do that caused so much hatred aimed at them? The media would say that hippies were angry at them for following orders and engaging in war. But never did they show us the expose-documentaries of what 'all' our soldiers were doing there. And I say all because 3-5 million slaughtered Vietnamese could not have been the work of a few 'bad apples'.

I have more respect for the soldiers that admitted to their war-crimes whether by their own volition or becuase they were simply following orders.

I have more respect for the soldiers of WW2 because at the time they were fighting a real, capable enemy, a real war against the Nazis, the Italian Fascists, and the brutal Japanese. Otherwise who knows how far their campaign would have reached. THAT was a real threat to all the peoples of the world.

This current war against an innocent country is simply amazing. The U.S. help establish Sadam to power and when they realized he was tired of dealing with a bankrupt country(U.S.), and preferred to do business with Europe in Euros only, the U.S. attacked in a final desperate measure to make sure nobody was going to get any oil with Euros, only in dollars.

Very convenient wouldn't you say? From the outset the U.N. said this was an illegal war. But nobody has the guts to push them back to their corner. They want to see the U.S. slip up and charge when America stretches the military too thin for apt defense. China or Russia will surely move in want to claim their piece of the pie.

So now who's really endangering who?

You think this smalll picture will embolden the enemy?...c'mon!!! YOu and I know soldiers have committed alot more atrocities but are not called as such because the termanology, the vernacular the U.S. is using was set up the invaders themselves. In other words the soldiers are not guilty of anything becuase everything is considered 'rules of engagement' 'spoils of war'..all language used to hide the fact of what's really going on.

I really don't think this movie could anger the people of Iraq anymore than they already are. What more can you do to these poor people? I doubt the Iraqi people have internet connections let alone electricity to power their computers...that is if they have computers, which I doubt they do.

Bush likes people like you. He likes people that never question their own government. For fear of being called unpatriotic alot of people have kept their mouths shut while Americans slaughter the people of Iraq.

You can call me whatever you like. I know what I'm saying. This war is not gonna end anytime soon. Plain and simple the U.S. wants to hold the world hostage by controlling all the middle east oil with the premise of an illegal anti-terrorist war campapaign. Instead of developing a new energy source, those in power want to make as much money off of us.....all of us before the oil runs out.

No, this is not a movie that represents the totality of what the war in Iraq is really all about. If it were possible to depict what's really at hand here, you'd march to the white house and demand some answers....but judging by your viewpoint you'll probably demand to know where you can sign up to become a rich oil baron.

Whatever happened in Vietnam was another war. It doesn't justify trashing our military today. Don't believe more than 25% of what you hear from the supposedly unbiased media. I also haven't seen the videos on the main stream media of terrorists brutally sawing off the heads of their captives while they screamed in horror. Why is that? There are 140,000 of our military in Iraq and you think the actions of a mere handful represents our troops. Why doesn't De Palma make a movie about the terrorists purposely blowing up innocent civilians by the tens of thousands? He would rather spend his time and effort (and Cuban's money) making us think our military in made up of murders and rapists.

hmmmm, you are completely off the reservation and sound like a living billboard for all the liberal hype the press is trying to feed us. It sounds good to over inflate the number of casualties and state unsubstantiated garbage like it is undisputed facts. The soldiers involved in the incident have been prosecuted and sentenced by the same military you say imply is corrupt. Do you actually think these men are representative of our military? Of course they aren't. Do you think this movie does anyone any good but the terrorists? What purpose does it serve?

The reporters during the Vietnam 'War' were embedded with the soldiers, yet it took them a very long time to start telling the truth of what was really happening there. Soldiers that comitted war atrocities (3-5 million Vietnamese were slaughtered by the U.S.) returned and confessed to the media of what they had done. If they had never confessed, if the true journalists had never uncovered these murders, the world would have never known what the U.S. had in mind, both for the Vietnamese and the 58,000 U.S. soldiers that died fighting in the 'conflict'.

Nothing could ever be purely 'representative' of what's going on in Iraq. To demand that we not see this movie, to demand that we not see anything at all should be enough to suspect your real agenda.

The case of the girl raped by U.S. soldiers hasn't seen any media coverage. Very convenient, not only for the military, but for the media and the war itself. The media hasn't admitted over 1 million Iraqis have been killed by the U.S., hasn't admitted Osama Bin Laden never admitted he orchestrated the 911 plane crashes, hasn't admitted the president of Afghanistan was an oil baron, hasn't admitted they cannot ask the white house real tough questions, hasn't admitted Bush's close circle of friends profitted from the 911 attacks, the clean-ups, as well as the weapons manufacturing for the ensuing wars and consequently, the clean-up of Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as close friends in the security agencies that operate in Iraq while immune to any authority, in other words, above the law.

And you have a problem with us watching this little film. De Palma obviously knows he will not be raking in the dough. Nobody does. Only movies that are completely oblivious to what's going on get the marketing to help promote them. Think about it, he's covering a case- that I imagine the majority of the people in the world let alone in the U.S., do not even know of because the media decided not to cover it thoroughly. Yet it has the resources to dwell on the case of an American stripper/prostitue that lied about being raped by four members of the Duke University lacrosse team. The media dwelled, and i say dwell because they did not, would not investigate the case only specualted on what the stripper/prostitute claimed.

Both cases happened last year, yet we heard very little of the Iraqi girl/rape-victim case. De Palma hopes this will help disuade the public for continuing the war. Nobody is saying 'all' the soldiers are bad...but it's more than 'a few bad apples'. If people like you succeed in this information war, then i guess it'll be another set of decades before the rest of the world really knows how extensive this new genocide campaign trully is. I guess a million dead people is not enough for you and your family.

If they can do that to others, what makes you think they'll never do it to you and your loved ones?

The reporters during the Vietnam ‘War’ were embedded with the soldiers, yet it took them a very long time to start telling the truth of what was really happening there. Soldiers that comitted war atrocities (3-5 million Vietnamese were slaughtered by the U.S.) returned and confessed to the media of what they had done. If they had never confessed, if the true journalists had never uncovered these murders, the world would have never known what the U.S. had in mind, both for the Vietnamese and the 58,000 U.S. soldiers that died fighting in the ‘conflict’.

I have relatives in the military doing tours of duty in Iraq. I KNOW it isn't representative. This movie is just another left wing Hollywood hit piece on our military. None of these liberally biased war movies are getting any traction at the theaters anyway. The overwhelming majority of the public knows these movies are a slap in the face to our military and therefore won't watch them. Let's see how well this goes over in Texas for Cuban. Attendance may be down next year for the Mavericks when the fans see how he is spending their ticket money.

Ignore this awful, anti-American, anti-Military film.

Mark Cuban will suffer the consequences of paying for this film.

@38 C'mon, is that the preferred ad hominem nowadays? Anyone who respects their troops must watch Fox News 24/7?

This fictionalized movie is hardly indicative of the behavior of the your average serviceman. There are bound to be a few bad apples in any society as large as the military, and thankfully the people behind this act will die in prison.

haha...what do you mean this is not representative of what's happening in the war against Iraq?!?

'Apocalypse Now' showed us some war crimes yet it did not even come close in depicting how the U.S. soldiers killed 3-5 million people in what is now regarded as a genocide/holocaust campaign against the people of Vietnam.

So I'm guessing, judging by your statement, that Coppolla's film is right-wing propaganda because it hid the real truths from us?

Looks like you're blinded by right-wing politics my friend.
