Redacted LIMITED DVDRip XviD-SAPHiRE

A limited and very controversial war drama Redacted is finally available in a new dvdrip from group SAPHiRE. This story from a famous director Brian De Palma (Carlito’s Way) raised a wave of discussions. Redactor won a prize for best direction at Venice Film Festivals, but critics aren’t really united – you will either love it or hate it. Anyway, the official DVD won’t be on shelves until February 19 so you have a great chance to enjoy this movie right now.

Focusing on a squad of American soldiers in Samarra, the film employs a number of conflicting styles and alternative points of view, juxtaposing the experiences of the soldiers running a checkpoint with those of the media sent to cover events, and the local Iraqis who find themselves caught in the middle of a civil war. Each group is affected by the conflict in different ways, and the film interprets their experiences through different filters.

Been looking forward to seeing this movie. American warmongers hate seeing the cold hard truth of their hatred shown on the screen.

AmeriKKKans are so brainwashed that they still think their country is the greatest on the planet even when they are almost last on everything compared to all other industrialized nations (ie health care, education, etc). Their country is nearly bankrupt and even the Canadian dollar is worth more. Just like the Soviet Union your ego and your hatred will destroy you.

AmeriKKKa is circling the toilet like a big turd.

This movie sux one of the most borin films ever worse than the post man and da bratz put together… and I am a “left wing nut job”… of course I also happen to be a former soldier so I resent anyone calling us untrained especially compared to the British soldiers who from what I saw in Afghanistan not only lacked proper training but also discipline in the field (but they were cool and I enjoyed swappin stories with them)

  38. Armstrong14
    February 7th, 2008 | 18:46

Excuse me? This movie isn’t boring, nor does it suck. This movie is based on the tale of true events in which soldiers raped and killed a girl. It’s not supposed to be all about killing, it’s a story told by DePalma. Now I’m not saying US soldiers are untrained or anything, everyone messes up at some point in their lives. I dl’ed the dvdscreener months ago, and I have to say that it was good. It left you speechless in the end, which is what DePalma wanted. It shows controversy.

Oh and Martin, there’s a typo of Redacted in the text above (”Redactor won a prize for best direction at Venice Film Festivals”).

DePalma’s greatest movie will always be Scarface! :D

The film, financed by billionaire Mark Cuban and directed by far-left bomb thrower Brian DePalma, features drunken American soldiers in Iraq raping and murdering a 14-year-old girl and then slaughtering her family. A depiction like this will be displayed prominently on jihadi websites, and will be used as a recruiting tool by terrorists. No doubt. Both DePalma and Cuban are unrepentant and apparently could not care less about putting U.S. troops in even more danger. Cuban opines that it is wrong to condemn the film without seeing it, but that’s incredible nonsense. No one denies the movie puts American soldiers in the worst light possible. So what’s to be done here? In a free society, Mark Cuban is entitled to make this despicable movie. Our military people have fought and died to give him that right. Isn’t that ironic? Cuban uses his freedom and his money, made in America, to put our troops at further risk. How does the guy live with himself? This isn’t about the Iraq war or the war on terror. This is about fellow citizens. Even during the ultra-contentious Vietnam conflict, Hollywood didn’t make films that aided the enemy. Jane Fonda made a personal appearance in North Vietnam that did that, and she is still paying for it to this day. There is no excuse for “Redacted.” The incident is based on a true story, but those who committed the crimes are in prison for life. You don’t celebrate this kind of aberration with a movie—you don’t brand the U.S. military with this stigma. Charles Manson is an American too, but does he represent this country in any way? Of course not. And I believe even the odious Manson would not make a movie like “Redacted.”

    To All US Citizens:

DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE! It depicts US Marines destroying lives by raping innocent women/children unjustly, not to mention many other unjustly acts of violence. There has been no such acts committed during the current Iraq War nor has there been any reports to support this movie in any way shape or form. This is another form of United States citizens hating their own country and Brian de Palma is simply so angry at the Bush administration that he is willing to hurt our entire armed forces just to get his point across. Scenes from this movie have been shown on Al Jazeera and many other anti-American websites and television. If you are an American DO NOT watch this film as it is simply another way of destroying our country from within. May god have mercy on our souls, especially Brian de Palma’s.

i still cant believe the US are looked at as being so evil… but then again most of you are probably too young or uneducated to know about things like the rape of nanking, or how the ottoman empire sought to destroy the entire race of the armenians, or many of the other horrors that have happened… some highlights of those horrible incidents are armenian women and children being walked through the desert, and forced to walk naked until they died… or maybe how the japanese were running around decapitating the people of nanking… also, making brothers rape their sisters, fathers rape their daughters, sons rape their mothers and etc… 300,000 deaths our of the 600,000 people in the city… 1.5 million deaths with the armenians… 2,000,000 in pol pot… then again i guess we should have just left the iraqis alone and let them be tortured and killed by their government… did the liberal media happen to show you how women can vote over there now, and people dont have to fear torture from their government? there may be small isolated incidents of bad conduct by some soldiers, but thats what it is… there are bad people in the world…

    Madigan, you suggest that

”A depiction like this will be displayed prominently on jihadi websites, and will be used as a recruiting tool by terrorists”

I would like to suggest that the occupation of the middle east since the end of WW I by the west and their subsequent crimes
    - such as the British bombing of Iraqis,
    - Israelis treatment of Palestine and the daily attacks Palestinians must endure, while suffering an embargo which forces them to break into Egypt to get supplies
    - Americas constant interference in the affairs of sovereign countries such as Iran, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia is the best tool any Jihadi could need.

I’m afraid to say that you need to stop watching Fox and open your eyes to what is happening and has happened in the short history of western dominance of the world.

You also state ”Mark Cuban is entitled to make this despicable movie. Our military people have fought and died to give him that right.”
Let be one to suggest that the American military is actually fighting on behalf off a small minority of corporate interests, not your rights to freedom that are slowly been destroyed by an American administration that passes bills such as the patriot act and a soon to be enacted ID card amendment while giving huge tax cuts to the rich while the poor suffer at the hands of the sub prime scandals which sees the wealth of the lower classes siphoned of to the rich.

Anyway I could go on with even more examples but I’m sure it ain’t going to change your mind one bit, so here’s to the day when even the military might of the US wont be able to compete with the economic power of the Chinese and Indians and thus takes us into a multi polar world where respect and co-operation can bring nations together rather than fear and intimidation.

rich tax cuts? across the board since president bush enacted the tax cuts people have all seen 3-5% decrease in federal income tax… as well as a new tax bracket at the bottom of 10% , which used to be 15% to benefit low income people… as for the rich having tax cuts, why dont they deserve them? exxon-mobil (one corporation mind you) paid somewhere around 38 billion in taxes this year, 50% of the american tax paying population on the lower end of the tax brackets had paid 37.5 billion… exxon mobile paid this at a rate of 41%, whereas the common american public paid it at a rate of 10-23%… thats 65 million americans not paying as much as 1 corporation… you must also realize these corporations are what drives the economy here, and the high rate of taxes directly effects their ability to expand and diversify their businesses, which results in less economic growth and less jobs…

as for the wealth of the lower classes being syphoned to the rich? wtf are you talking about… the reason they are lower classes is because they dont have any wealth, and you obviously didnt think it necessary to cite any references or numbers… just another statement made for the sake of making a statement thats provocative…

Yo Defunkt, here is a quick guide to how sub prime mortgages work from the BBC..

”For many years, Cleveland was the sub-prime capital of America.

It was a poor, working class city, hit hard by the decline of manufacturing and sharply divided along racial lines.

Mortgage brokers focused their efforts by selling sub-prime mortgages in working class black areas where many people had achieved home ownership.

They told them that they could get cash by refinancing their homes, but often neglected to properly explain that the new sub-prime mortgages would “reset” after 2 years at double the interest rate.

The result was a wave of repossessions that blighted neighbourhoods across the city and the inner suburbs.

By late 2007, one in ten homes in Cleveland had been repossessed and Deutsche Bank Trust, acting on behalf of bondholders, was the largest property owner in the city.”

On a side note-this movie was incredibly boring. The news reports on this matter had more drama than this movie. The acting was just horrible. I’m %138 against the “war” but this movie just doesn’t deliver anything new and tells its story with bad acting and at a dragging pace.

im from detroit… as for sub-prime mortgages most people speaking out for mortgage reform is the republican party… i am opposed to sub-prime lending however its their own stupidity for getting involved… thats exactly what happens when you dont bother to research things… its their own stupidity… the same reason people are stupid for getting variable rate mortgages… there are many non-profit organizations out there that will provide counseling on such matters, so them being broke isnt an excuse… in detroit we have a horrible blight problem, i grew up on the west side, which is notorious for violence… i grew up poor, busted my ass and thanks to myself and the country i live in i am able to be somewhat prosperous… i make a decent living, $30,000 this year, i take college courses when my scheduling permits, and live ok… i am a conservative and am not pleased with the republican party as i do not see them supporting my conservative beliefs, i am not religious… that should give you an idea of my placement in life… and when i said i grew up poor, i mean desolate, single mother three kids, father in prison, poor as you can be… food stamps and shelter poor… i have no respect for those that complain about how horrible life is, i came from little and made something of it…

and for the fighting for oil #63, gas has doubled since we entered the war in iraq… i would like for once someone to explain when they say we are in it for oil, how we are getting so much oil… like this is some free pool of oil we are going to obtain… we purchase oil or land that oil is on…

Yeah, I dunno how that all works out. But we do know the reasons for entering Iraq were false. I fully supported going into Iraq from the beginning even after the news of the false wmd intel came out I thought maybe getting rid of Saddam, even under false pretenses, was a probably a good thing. I guess only time will tell. I can’t help but think of the old saying “Better the devil you know than the one you don’t”. Those muslim fundies are a crazy bunch of MFs. Actually the muslim fundies are acting just like christian fundies of 500 years ago. Attacking them only encourages them. It’s only a matter of time till they get nuclear. Gotta be another way.

Regarding the oil, I do know that when the price goes up all the oil companies rake it in. Record profits the last few years. Hmmmmm lets see, what other corps are raking it in while our troops are dying and America goes broke?

    @63 Dorje,

Hmm, if we are fighting for oil well then would you like to tell me where the hell it is? Oil prices are double that of what they were before the war started. So if this war was all about oil, as some original democrats said it was man are we getting the shaft at $88 per barrel. I agree that our intelligence for going into Iraq was flawed however we all know that if Saddam and Osama had nuclear capabilities they would aim them straight at our asses without thinking twice.

    February 8th, 2008 | 00:19

fighting for oil is a ridiculous assumption… we can buy the oil, and we will buy the oil regardless… thats why we are still paying $88 a barrel… and as for the oil companies making huge profits, they make roughly $0.08 per gallon after refining costs, labor, taxes, and other costs… they make large amounts of money, because they sell in volume… record profits for oil companies = a huge and ever growing demand… its always record profits every year, because the demand is always increasing… i can not be mad at oil companies for making money, we live in a capitalist world… if they are shrewd business men and women and work hard at making deals, moving product, and running their business efficiently all the while providing us with gasoline and jobs, how can you be mad? they provide jobs, and cut paychecks for people… not to mention all the other jobs that are created from the industry, tanker drivers, refinery workers, the list goes on and on, so quit complaining, they do way more good than harm… the media makes them out to be the enemy for some reason, i have no idea why, they provide more than 50% of the taxes for this country, so in reality they are the ones paying for many of the programs for the poor, and they provide us with goods…

    February 8th, 2008 | 00:54

@70 Don’t ask me where the oil is. Goin up in smoke I guess lol. Google it. Here’s a two year old story about how we were getting shafted at $65 per barrel.
Record Prices Mean Record Profits for Oil Companies
    http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/story?id=1029991

Here’s a current story that says BP is losing money while ExxonMobil broke all corporate records last week with a $40bn annual profit.
    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/bp-to-cut-5000-jobs-as-record-oil-price-cuts-profits-by-fifth-778751.html

As for the jihadis getting their hands on a nuke. Pakistan has em already and they look pretty unstable politically. They are the new home to the taliban ffs. Then there is Iran who’s nuclear ambitions are plausible and scary.

Oh yeah, What do you think we are fighting for? Democracy? Elected Theocracies? Hypocracy? At least we have the freedom to spend a fortune on gas and drive to walmart without hitting an IED. Cheers M8

Happy Lunar New Year to the rest of the world

well, do your part, start walking everywhere and stop breathing while your at it… breathing releases co2 into the atmosphere and contributes to global warming… so does cow flatulence by releasing methane, so we should kill the cows… while we are at it, we should start inflating our car tires manually like a balloon, so we can recycle the co2 we breath…

instead of investing money into U.S. military just to stick your ugly noses everywhere, better spend it into building better homes. your houses are built like IKEA, but cost like medieval castles. my European shoe drawer will survive your tornados better! i can’t believe my eyes these days: the richest country in the world living in houses built like birds nest! have you guys heard of concrete and bricks? oh, yeah, all money are gone into weapons and army so you can kill better all over the world.

    Defunkt,

You don’t get automatic respect for growing up poor cause no one cares. Next time you complain, someone confined to a wheel chair can easily one-up your poor story. Everybody has their own struggles. You don’t get extra points for yours.

i wasnt trying to one up anybody, the story was in response to someone complaining about subprime loans… being poor isnt an excuse to be stupid… im not trying to get extra points for anything, im content, nor do i need a bunch of flametards jumping on my balls because they are trolling for attention…

This movie is based on a true story, those two soldiers are two among hundreds. Americans were in Afghanistan and are in Iraq for the wrong reasons, as if they’re really trying to catch Osama. Its all about money, and last i checked, oil was worth a looooooooooot of money.

    From IMDB:
    US Voters: 4.3
    Non-US Voters: 7.2

58% of US voters voted 1 which just goes to show that they are a bunch of infuriated idiots who don’t agree with the message. Even if you don’t like the movie it is a much better film than any of the truly terrible films in the IMDB bottom 100 that actually deserve 1.

    February 8th, 2008 | 05:45

rofl so what you guys are saying is we should all bury our heads in the sand. Making movies about true events is wrong because it could hurt the troops. Also we shouldn’t report these incidents hey? Lets keep it secret and refuse to talk about it just to make sure that no patriotic american soldiers get hurt. Great arguement. Censorship and the destruction of freedom of speech are the only way to save our great ‘free’ nation.

    Defunkt,

    I was talking about this:

“i have no respect for those that complain about how horrible life is, i came from little and made something of it…”

That is complete ignorance. There are so many scenarios worst than yours, complaints or no complaints. You’re lucky.

This movie needed to be made, although done poorly. Truly meant to demonize a serious event to the point of embarrassment. The world’s populous understands that something terrible occurred and repair and amends need made. But this film is nothing but fuel on a fire, just like Salazar’s filming in the movie. To stand witness but do nothing. I saw but one soldier die in this film, when there is a more realistic death count on all sides. Please, produce movies that don’t patronize or make light of life changing event.

Hi everyone… Just wanted to mention something. Oil prices went up after 9/11. Went further up after Afghanistan. Skyrocketed after Iraq. To send troops to protect “your interests” is one thing. To topple a dictator is another. Unfortunately both went awry. Instead of protecting them they kicked a hornets nest and made way for the killer bees. According to independent and government studies there were no Al Qaida in Iraq before the war. Now there are everywhere. Soldiers are dying every day and talking about genocide, just look at the numbers. Saddam was a dictator hands down, but what is happening today is 500 deaths per day. Estimated death tolls are 655000 deaths among civilians… not counting armed personnel. Look at this link, just one of many. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/10/10/AR2006101001442.html
As far the oil is concerned. I suppose that the analysts at the beginning of the war could not even imagine how unstable the entire region, not just Iraq, would be made because of the war. People are getting scared and the prices go up.

P.S: Not to mention who armed and supported Saddam and Bin Ladden initially.

    February 8th, 2008 | 18:25

Please, not all Americans are so gullible to believe everything we are forcefed to believe… many here know we are a mislead people with some very bad and nasty management… but we are owned by the moneychangers (your country may be as well, sorry.).

They run almost all our communications, TV, radio, newspapers, and our phone bills will one day come straight from the NSA.
Our elections are just for distraction and entertainment, the schools don’t teach real awareness to balance the fake history, our water is poisoned with fluoride (good for teeth, bad for brains), , … etc., etc., etc…

This is nothing new… Russia was on lock-down, North Korea and China… still.

Please understand that most of the Yanks that you meet don’t even know that the late great America is gone and not coming back.

There are many, many, many, wonderful people here… please don’t confuse us for our puppetmasters…. We love all people… and when you hear patriotic comments from us, remember, we are only talking about us, the regular citizens… not the so-called government… and definitely not their ‘foreign policies.

So please, the next time you hear an american saying something really naive or even moronic… just remember, there probably a few idiots not to far from your doorstep as well… thanks for reading.

    A Humble Yank.

I’m an open minded person who feels that that Iraq war was a huge mistake perpetratedon the basis of misrepresentation. I watched this movie from start to finish. While I feel it is fair game to tell this story as it is based on real events, I found it to be extremely poorly executed. Brian Depalma, who i normally find to be an excellent director, did a lackluster job of making the characters and the story believable. I think this story could have been told in a much more effective and thought provoking manner.
