Well guys, we all know what Reaper is. This just a nice update for it… So Happy New Year and I hope all is prosperous for you guys and gals out there in 2008.

REAPER is a powerful but sensible Windows application that lets you record, arrange, edit, and render multi-track waveform audio. It provides an extensive set of features, but is a very small and lightweight application (the installer is less than 1 megabyte and includes many effects and a sample project). REAPER supports ASIO, Kernel Streaming, WaveOut, and DirectSound for playback and recording. It reads WAV, OGG, and MP3 files and records WAV files. You can arrange any number of items in any number of tracks and use audio processing plug-ins (DirectX and Jesusonic). REAPER also supports volume, pan controls and envelopes per track multi-layer undo/redo, and user creatable color themes. More Info

      Reaper seems to be the “Resident Evil: Extinction” of Apps. I think it’d be more comparable to Pro Tools than Audition.

      Updated alot due to constant development and a dedicated crew of active testers.

      This app looks to be shaping up to be a daw that may well soon rival the pro end of the market.

      Have not used this for ages.
      I currently use Ableton on mac (only for live sets).

      On PC i prefer Ardour 2 + Hydrogen + Rosegarden

      This app does come released un-crippled, the registration is more a moral issue than that of the usual software purchase.

      The cracking is fair enough, if there is a section of code that can be cracked why not do that and release it? 0day scene is all about them rules and beating the other guy to it.

      You will find that the theme of “Try Before Buy” as popularised by the audio 0 day group H2O is common throughout the audio scene running all the way back to the days of Radium, unsurprising if you consider how few actual audio crackers are out there.

      If you are interested in the audio scene the current gods of audio cracking have just released

      And is a must for all those who have participated over the years.

      This is great for a quick chop and glue, but not that useful for serious editing. If you’re reading this, then you probably already have a favorite audio editor/sequencer. I’d recommend you stick with that.

      +1 for Live. I use it almost exclusively. Digital Performer comes out when there’s video involved, and Reason is always Rewired in the back.
