Reaper v2.018-ENGiNE

New version of Reaper for all you audio fanatics, need i say more?

REAPER is a powerful but sensible Windows application that lets you record, arrange, edit, and render multi-track waveform audio. It provides an extensive set of features, but is a very small and lightweight application (the installer is less than 1 megabyte and includes many effects and a sample project). REAPER supports ASIO, Kernel Streaming, WaveOut, and DirectSound for playback and recording. It reads WAV, OGG, and MP3 files and records WAV files. You can arrange any number of items in any number of tracks and use audio processing plug-ins (DirectX and Jesusonic). REAPER also supports volume, pan controls and envelopes per track multi-layer undo/redo, and user creatable color themes.

More info can be found here.

Edit: just got nuked for “mu.AiR.2007-12-07 ” - Minor updatge of AiR’s release from 07/12/07.

mu.AiR is a nasty virus that embeds itself in your OS, collects what it needs and then basically blows up your BIOS with settings and information that crashes it to never work again. More information will be posted about this new virus later today.

I would like to know what is the best and most simplest program/software out there for MP3 and sound editing. For example taking content out of music tracks, adding extra content into tracks, disabling backgroud sounds etc.

I want the software to be fairly easy to learn and use.

    any suggestions?

nuke mu = Minor update, not seen this reason used in a long time, I would have gone with the AiR release as\ they are the audio0day kings.

@10, this app will do that.

Lol @ dude reporting virus, nice spraying some shit. This isn’t a virus. The nuke I think means minor update(mu) of the air release on 07/12/07 (AIR.2007.12.07). But that is just my guess.

No no lee, it’s obviously a magic new virus that can do things that are technically impossible.

Gawd, mu = minor update indeed :)

    Anyone rate this against audacity?

    December 15th, 2007 | 20:18

MU = minor update. You may not release a version of a 0day app if a previous version has been released in the past 14 days GMT time unless it can be shown the new version is significantly different. This stops groups from pre’ing the same program’s daily builds every day where there likely would be no noticeable change. Nukes for MU aren’t generally seen because anyone who knows what their doing probably doesn’t want a nuke held against them.

Comparing this to Audacity is silly because this is a DAW where Audacity is an audio editor. Using this alongside Audacity would be better practice, that way you could trim/clean audio with Audacity so that you could insert it into Reaper, saying that tho, you could always do that in Reaper but Audacity you could Master your track after you export it from Reaper.

I personally dont use this but i have been watcing its progress from Beta upwards and i have to say this is fastly becoming a contender! Give this app another year or two and it will be a force to be reakon’d with. If you get this now you will be used to it and also learn the new features that gets added instead of getting it in 1-2 years time and having to learn a whole load of new tools! lol

Still kinda primative but could be a great starting point for someone who dosent normally use audio apps or is just starting out.

Hackzy (the fake one), stop spamming!

whoever is spamming as me you do realize that an admin from this site can look at the email you entered and know that you’re not the real person. for example i posted comments on the high school musical hd post with the same email im posting wit now. so therefore im real and ur not u little bĂ®tch

I use Audacity (No, I am not a jew) and SoundBooth (Pirate Edition). I might dl’d this and compare what this does against the others. BUT, it seems that Audacity does the same thing.

    It for the else!

In my experience I have found Adobe Audition to be the easiest and most powerful multi-rack editor/recorder. The filters and plug-ins are very powerful as well. I would highly recommend checking it out.

    December 16th, 2007 | 20:46

REAPER IS NOT freeware. It’s a uncrippled shareware. You need to buy it after a period of use, but if you don’t, it won’t stop working (you’ll get a message in it’s start, just like WinRAR)

  30. Sum=1
    December 18th, 2007 | 21:52

Ok my mistake, it’s not freeware, but again, if you can carry on using it after the free use period without any problems then why not get it from the main site?

Also, given how cheap it is and the fact that it is, in quite a few ways, more powerful than some of the more expensive competitors, surely it would be worth paying the small amount if you are going to use it. Just my opinion on this one application - that’s all, nothing more and nothing less :-)
