RealVNC Enterprise v4.5 Incl Keymaker-EMBRACE

Here is a really nice program that was just released by EMBRACE. I personally use this as my desktop PC uses Windows XP Home Edition so i cant remote desktop into it via the normal Windows RD, so i love this program :D Enjoy!

VNC is remote control software which allows you to view and fully interact with one computer desktop (the “VNC server”) using a simple program (the “VNC viewer”) on another computer desktop anywhere on the Internet. The two computers don’t even have to be the same type, so for example you can use VNC to view a Windows Vista desktop at the office on a Linux or Mac computer at home. For ultimate simplicity, there is even a Java viewer, so that any desktop can be controlled remotely from within a browser without having to install software.

VNC is in widespread active use by many millions throughout industry, academia and privately. There are several versions to choose from, including a free version and some substantially enhanced commercial versions.

If you need a remote desktop application, I'd recommend TeamViewer.

It is easy to set up, and is free if it's for non-commercial purposes. :] They even have a built-in browser application on their website that you can access in case you're by a computer and can't d/l teamviewer.

    Listen to #1!

I use uVNC and LogMeIn, both free, both different, but give me two ways to reach my systems and clients. Not sure why you would pay for the free, open source VNC? Strange indeed.

I use TightVNC and have done for years. It Works well & comes with a simple http server for vnc control in your web browser (though javascript). No need to install a vnc client for access, just use web browser.
I think TightVNC is freeware also… cant remember though, might have pirated it…. ARRRRGH, AVAST YE LANDLUBBERS!
Though i would like funther accounting & access rights controls though, which TightVNC misses.

Does this RealVNC provide all those features? If yes then i will give it a go.

Trust me, even if this is a very good application, nothing can beat the performances of RADMIN!

I tried them all (UltraVNC, RealVNC, PcAnyware, ecc), and no one has the same performances of Radmin (I tried them all in a home Lan, and the only one that produced no lagging, high response at high resolution/colors images was radmin).

Unfortunately there cracks for Radmin are not that great (don't work).

Try it and you'll see what I'm talking about

@7 Windows Home Edition does not support normal RDP.

RealVNC has integration for stuff like Windows Authentication, which is why it's often popular with businesses. For everyone else TightVNC is tiny and faster. If you use XP Pro or any edition of Windows Server then you migth as well stick with RDP. Even the single user limit in XP Pro can be cracked to allow multiple RDP sessions.

RE: The infected file issue, it is a false positive.

Most AV products pick up keygens etc as trojans because they have the ability to run a script and are not recognized by the AV software.

They are NOT trojans, just ignore your AV freaking out or turn it off until it is installed and running.

    May 15th, 2009 | 00:04

Logmein.com and their ilk operate through a central service which anyone wishing to maintain strict privacy should avoid. If you're using *nix based OS then use a VNC server and if you're on Windows use RDP. If you're at work and RDP is blocked by your work firewall, then just re-configure your home computer to RDP on port 80 or 443 (unless you need both for HTTP as well).

NX is ONLY free for Linux, nothing else, so that nix's NX completely.

Logmein is great and free, but you are correct, if they get bought out, who knows what will happen. Also, how can we trust the data going through? LogMeIn is a good secondary method, but so is RDP and a VPN.

Ultimately I prefer the VNC line of things since it allows multiple connects, free, encrypted if you want. It is not the easiest to setup, but I got it working fine.

Also created a uVNC Single Click to send to my friends and it does a reverse connect back to me, right through their firewall, no need for client install and it doesn't require admin privs. Took about 45 min to setup, again not the easiest, but once you tinker with it, and again, FREE, its the best.

I believe that those detecting trojans in this DL should avoid using it.. My Kaspersky picked up the backdoor trojan as well and it has never given me a false positive yet.. I just DL'ed from the link on #35 and it came back as clean.. Better to be safe than sorry I say.

Personally I don't dare turn off virus scanners for installing stuff like this. I've found many a true virus/trojan. Blind trust is madness.
Only if you're 99% sure it's a false positive disable.

http://www.virustotal.com/ can help determine. Some virus scanners are more prone to false positives.

RealVNC, UltraVNC, TightVNC, RDP are all good.
    But are all so limited.
RDP locks the session when you are done, RealVNC is no longer free, UltraVNC developed a recent can't send ctrl-alt-del problem. All of these require you to go through hoops with port forwarding and dynamic dns and stuff like that if you want to access your PC from another network especially if firewalls are involved.
If you want to overcome limitations of accessing from behind firewalls and stuff use teamviewer. This is hands down the best free remote PC access tool around.
