    @2..your a sad little man! it’s only 42.1mb.. even if you don’t have a premium acct, u can still download it as a free user.. from any given links from UJ. well, thats what im been doing!

    It is better than the defragmenter in Vista, in so much as it can reorganise placement of data based upon your usage.

    Will you notice any performance increase when compared to a standard vista defrag? No..

    I like the graphical representation though so I use it, miss the win defragger of old!

    i liked the phrase “probably won’t be” in their nfo

    one more thing. my anitvirus sees trojans only in their core10k.exe file which just verifies checksum of their keygen. so… core rulez. be cautious, but be realistic. virus in core release? no way….

  27. NinjaGaijin
    July 30th, 2008 | 14:16

    #3 Alan – yes, this completely kicks ass. It defrags an entirely different method.

    #4 yep been using for ages, always install this for other people’s comps.. love it

    #5 yes you do. I am always running between 5-20GB free on my drives, so things get cluttered. Standard defrag doesnt do as well in getting a large free space chunk.. and it doesnt order by most modified (a very logical way of defragging). I notice improvements to my fps in shooter games a lot more after Raxxco than standard.

    I still have to use a different program to defrag the registry though, it would be nice if they implemented this into a future version.

    #8 – because someone else could always put a virus in there even if they didnt mean that to happen

    #9 what are benefits/differences of Ultimate defrag?

    #14 whats wrong with the jockey?

    #19 why, because of new undiscovered virii that your antivirus wont detect?

    #23 I’ve already said I love this prog and some of its features.. what is O&O like?

  28. NinjaGaijin

    Defragments directories, pagefile,hibernate file,
    Master File Table (MFT), and system files..
    No other defragmenter defragments the hibernate file.

    I’ve test O&O and Diskeeper just standard Defrag.

    When was the last time you did a offline defrag?

    So Yes this is Better, In my opinion ..

    I used WinRar to extract the “PD2008_WS.001″ file. I should note that Windows would not recognize what program to open the file with. I had to actually open up WinRAR, go to File and Open Archive to extract the files.

    It works with WinRar….not sure about other programs.

    @34

    Most sites don’t bother with DL links or even let you post them, and while uploadjockey is a little rubbish websites aren’t cheap to run especially when they get this big and with adblock on its just a blank screen with links to upload sites.

    They also do not force you to use upload jockey, they don’t even make it obtrusive its just a link at the bottom of the page. Most of us who have been at this a while don’t use RS or any other upload sites very often anyway so what is the big deal. Just look it up on a newsgroup or torrent site and get it that way.

    When you come to think of it I can’t think of anywhere decent to actually download scene releases that doesn’t either have a few ads or a paid subscription.

    “It is better than the defragmenter in Vista, in so much as it can reorganise placement of data based upon your usage.”

    I’ve played with this and found that Vista’s improved defragmenter (improved over XP) and Superfetch actually does a better job at organizing files based on usage. If not better, it at least does teh same or as good of a job.

    Yet another piece of scareware you don’t need. Not at 42MB at any rate.
    Honestly, just do this the easy way.
    1. Empty your recycle bin (duh!)
    2. Open Spybot Search & Destroy (free)… update the database, then run the program. Delete any nasty stuff found.
    3. Run TuneUp Utilities or WinOptimizer one-click function (yeah, you’re supposed to pay for those).
    4. Run JkDefrag. It’s free, ultralight (224K) and PORTABLE (don’t even need to install it).
    JkDefrag does a great job on all hard drives it locates. Create yourself a short-cut on your desktop; click it once and off it goes; let it run (light on resources) and keep working if you like.
    And of course, you’re running Zone Alarm or Comodo (both free) and Avast or AntiVir antivirus (free). AVG gives too many false positives. If you’re really paranoid on virus’, run ‘em both and get yourself an online scan with Kaspersky or Panda from time to time.
    Oh and, of course, when you uninstall anything, you do it with REVO Uninstaller (free) which is also available in PORTABLE version; use option 4 as often as you can. Yeah, it takes longer but it wipes EVERYTHING related to the install. So that’s your best option if you were stupid enough to install any codec pack other than CCCP. Yeah, yeah, I know… VLC… bla bla… fair enough, but VLC is sh*t when you need sub-titles, or if you want a stay-on-top small window only. Somebody correct me if I’m wrong.

  45. teh_h4x0r enquierer
    July 30th, 2008 | 18:18

    I don’t care about the other stuff you said, but you don’t talk SHlT about VLC!

    I just watched the Wanted R5 with the subs and it was just fine. And even if you come across subs that don’t work – there are plenty of sub converters out there that will convert it to a format that does work.
    And all you gotta do to make VLC stay on top of other windows is check the option under preference>video.
    A*shole.

    @48 desperado:

    Are you friggin’ kidding me? because a program is of this size it automatically scares you? what a crock of sh(t. you obviously have no experience with defraggers and the optimization method this one uses if you say to use what you just did.

    Perfectdisk can (if you set it) reorganize your files that are rarely modified (say 30+ days old) to the beginning of your hard drive. files that are modified often are moved to the end of the hard drive. this makes a HUGE difference when it comes time to defrag your hard drives as it will most likely just need to redo the last part of your hard drive. also make sure to enable aggresive free space consolidation, which takes longer the first time you use it but its well worth it later as your hard drives free space is all moved to the end of the hard drive where it should be.

    windows defrag, tuneup (for defrag hard drive) as well are crap and take hours to complete. there is only about 3 good defraggers out there, this being #1. seriously give it a try and youll notice a big improvement. years ago before i had tried this i hadnt defragged for months as windows takes all day to defrag. i would open a rar file to extract (around 600 megs) and it would take like 6 mins to extract. after i defragged with perfectdisk it was under 1 minute to do the same file. this is how much extra time it takes your hard drive to move all over its empty sectors that are scattered and write data when your drive is heavily fragmented.

    again the first time you use this it will take longer than it normally will, because of the strategic file placement of moving rarely modified files to the font. the next time you defrag it will be done within an hour for a 250 gig hdd. lets see windows defrag do that and out perform after. also perfectdisk shows you before and after performance graphs, this is the best of the best.

    must have programs are: this, tuneup or wopti (i prefer wopti now), Avast Pro (dont even start with any norton/avg/mcaffee crap), superantispyware, startup faster! (this app is great if you know how to use it properly) and for people who know how to use the registry and file system install ashampoo uninstaller 3 (monitor ALL your installs to clean then completely after uninstalling). now these are must have system tools only.

    48,

    most free defrag programs are based on the defragmentation API by Microsoft. so good for you, using your hyped JkDefrag makes no difference from using Windows own defrag that’s even more free than your solution.

    piss on you!

    5-20GB is not much headroom I admit, if your that pushed for space than this could make a tangible difference to performance but considering you can pick up a fresh 160GB drive for $40 I don’t see why it’s necessary to struggle for space. I currently have 1.4TB free :p

    Also, I honestly cannot see a good defrag making any difference to fps in games. Loading times yes but unless you have so little ram that levels are loading into virtual memory where is this increase coming from?

    @44

    Thanks for the info on vista’s defragmenter and superfetch! I am a bit of a vista fanboy myself (let the flames commence) so I am pleased to hear about your findings. Sadly I must admit, I’m taken in by the fancy defragging visualisations and vista offers less in this department than even XP.

    i have tried PD2007 and found it a wee bit of a resource hog. perhaps it wasn’t set just exactly so, but its only a defragger! i run xp and can’t see past ultimate defrag 2008. a lot to set there, and honestly i don’t want to work it all out for little difference, so i use auto mode and it does work well. i agreee with fishburner that 5 -20GB is not a lot of headroom. i think i go opposite and only run internal HDDs at 50-65% of capacity. i have a 160GB sata only for system and apps and a 250GB solely for games and stuff. this works well ‘cos you don’t lose games if you hard remaster.

    Windows built-in defragger just defrag; it doesn’t optimize the file placement in your drives. So a better defragger than Windows’s is needed.

    There was a great defrag shootout done last year that is worth a look: http://donnedwards.openaccess.co.za/2007/06/great-defrag-shootout-all.html.

    Best free defragger: JK Defrag

    /OT

    CORE’s explanation was almost fully but they missed one important point. The reason for antivirus softwares detecting few groups’ keygens as malicious software like trojan etc is BECAUSE -> they (keygens) have codeline in them to modify windows registry example. In other words, Im not saying CORE isnt one if not the oldest (read= most skilled grp) still pushing forward pc app rlsgrps existing, but skilled coder _CAN_ code keygen that allows modify winpoop registry without antivirus notifying about it as a trojan. Annoying as it is.. gotta live with it. Thanks for this post and thanks for CORE (even they dont watch p2p stuff) for great application :)

  59. huh?
    July 31st, 2008 | 16:04

    @kkn
    actually it’s not a codeline in core’s keygen that triggers the AV-soft’s alarms.

    quite often core’s keygen(’s GUI part) are coded in delphi which comes with a 300kb library (vcl) statically linked to the keygen exe.

    in scene ‘minds’ 300+kb for a keygen is a no go. l33t keygenners do their sh!t in assembler 20-kb exes.

    so core packs their keygens with exe packers like pecompact, upx and similar stuff to get the exe smaller and to prevent other ppl from stealing their keygen algo from their exes.

    those exepackers are usually also used my malware coders to obfuscate malicious code.

    some of the packers can be unpacked by AV-softs and the real code can be analyzed. some can’t be unpacked by AV softs. so everytime an exe that’s ‘unpackable’ is scanned the AV soft alerts with a ’suspicious’ notification, since it simply doesn’t know what code is in that packed exe.

    if some known (by AV-softs) malware used an ‘unpackable’ packer and core also uses that packer – to shrink/protect their keygens – the AV-soft goes ape-sh!t and assumes since it’s the same packer it must be the same or modified malware…

    now add core’s nfo to the above and you got the ‘complete’ picture.
