Ramsays Kitchen Nightmares S05E05 WS PDTV XviD-SPAREL

There are two versions of Kitchen Nightmares: the UK and the US. The US version is complemented with more ‘Drama’, mood effect music and bleeped curses. However, the UK version is more raw with Gordon narrating the entire show himself with his personal comments. This version does have some mood music but it is used sparingly. Also cursing is un-censored. At the restaurant Gordon is trying to help today, it’s filled with Seniors looking for a cheap meal. Gordon later finds out the reason no one less than 50 visits the diner is because the seniors love to clip out and use the coupons.

Gordon makes the trip to the town of Haywards Heath in Sussex to offer Scott advise with his restaurant. Gordon attempts to help him turn his business around into a thriving success.

And the UK version also doesn’t recap the last 10 minutes every 5 minutes (hence disappearing up its own arse)

The UK version is way better. Although the Kitchen Nightmares revisited shows were absolutely worthless. 55 minutes of old footage + 5 minutes of update. Barf.

While I enjoy the US version, it is no where near as good as the UK version. The US one is so staged, and as someone has already mentioned, ruins the viewer’s enjoyment by constantly telling us what’s about to happen.

Also the constant ‘bleeping’ annoys and the fact that the US one HAS to end on a ‘positive’ note (”Chef Gordon came into my life and helped me see that my arrogance was at the root of my failure. May God bless him and would you like a slice of Momma’s Apple Pie?”)

This episode is a classic. I don’t think I’ve seen Gordon genuinely that angry for a while. He makes no secret of his total disgust.

US Version is more dramatic because we are so intense and filled with anxiety & self conciousness over here.
Oh YEAH, and we have our Health Inspecters give us a heads up before they visit (once every 5 years)!!
    DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY Here!!

I was amazed at the UK versions…The restaurants are sooo much cleaner compared to the US. And everyone is pollite!!
except for saying “bullocks” for everything, it seems more calm, relaxed over in UK.
