Heeey, very nice! I’ve been looking forward to a decent quality version of this film and finally it is here. R5 is the quality barrier for most of us when it comes to new releases, so this one will be downloaded by many. Stallone both directs and stars in this action packed flick. Quality: Bald supply a very nice quality R5 on 1 CD. 978kb/s video bitrate and 130kb/s audio bitrate. The audio is a direct source from the DVD as well which is great news. Some Pre databases show this as nuked for stolen p2p workprint but it seems unlikely if you compare the quality. QUALITY IS GREAT SO WHO GIVES A SHIT ANYWAYS!
In this latest Rambo installment, John Rambo has retreated to a simple life in a rural Thai village near the Burmese border, capturing snakes for local entertainers, and transporting roamers in his old PT boat. Following repeated pleas, Rambo helps ferry a group of Christian aid workers into war-torn Burma, where the local Karen villagers are regularly tortured and massacred by Major Tint’s sadistic soldiers. The humanitarian mission is going well, until the village is attacked and the missionaries are kidnapped, and Rambo is once again asked to transport – but this time a group of mercenaries, assembled by the missionaries’ minister on a deadly rescue mission. The foreign language parts (NOT ENGLISH) do have subtitles and yes this copy shows them.

This film was ok, but I gotta say I was expecting more then run through jungle, kill chinx, jump on big gun, kill many chinx, the end. I was expecting some good stealth and trap setting, but for what it is, it does deliver.

The sound is not good on this one. Kind of hollow-metallic sound on the background parts, like rain and wind. Nice action, but it got far too high score on IMDB.

Why would I convert the xvid with compressed, low bitrate video and mp3 audio to a DVDR? Are you suggesting an xvid converted to DVDR is equivalent in quality to a DVDR with UNTOUCHED video and audio?

there are 2 bald versions. a 699.07MB version and a new one which is 720.06MB. whats the difference?
the New one is rar’d and has a sample also. could this one have the sync issue fixed?
just to confirm – the video quality is very good but the audio is indeed pretty poor and sections are slightly out-of-synch. i watched it on my pc using headphones on a standard set-up – the audio sounds like it’s a mix of various sources and it’s very noticeable.
i hate to say it, but expect a PROPER re-release soon – if you can wait a day or two, i’d wait. still, it is the best available copy so far so if you need it…
and yeah, the non-english parts have hard-coded english subs.

It’s not R5 mono sound, bubba. It slips in and out of sync, and it was audio taken from the dvdscreener. It more like slips in and out of stereo, almost like a vhs… And the 720MB copy still has sync issues.

Is there some stuff missing ? I have just checked. On the Workprint, it is 1:19 when he is walking up to his house at the end. In this R5 it is 1:16 for the same part. Is there 3 minutes missing or is iit a NTCS -> PAL thing ?

Good link. Workprint sound was better, but picture on this one is great.
This is a very good video… if you are nit picky and want a HD quality then you’ll be disappointed co’z you can’t compare thus type of release to HD. credits to all who made this release possible and for the download links… great sharing… I really can’t see any problems with the audio… sounds good on my end… I just hooked it up to a good set of speakers/headsets and it compensated for the low audio… just improvise guys sometimes we need to do a few adjustments ourself to appreciate something go0d…

This is very simular (if not the same) WORKPRINT released 02/01/08… It has much improved quality, but not as clear as the sample given.
The sample is nowhere near the same as this release. (release still has workprint at bottem centre screen, where as the sample doesnt)

What a schmozzle!
The ART version is best.
The video qaulity, if anything, is superior and the sound seems better quality, less tinny, though still slightly out of synch (haven’t struck a version yet that isn’t out of synch).
I added a delay to the audio of 200ms using AVI-Mux GUI and it’s almost perfectly in synch…if you want to go by that route.

Universal DVDR audio drifts in and out of sync too, i just grabbed it and burned it, and it’s a great picture, but the audio drifts as i said, and i think it drops in and out of stereo too, but thats hard to tell
i also had issues with it not wanting to play after burning, I am Legend did this too, so to get around it initially i have to inset disc, press stop twice, then play and all is good

the answer to your sync issue is the player you are using…
get kmplayer it’s free and you will see that the video will play great. just google it
Few things: subs are not needed, dialogs are ismple and everyone should understand them; auido isn’t out of sync (for me it was OK) but it does suck (volume level drops down in action parts: shooting etc.); although i liked the movie the previous Rambo’s were better.
Audio sucks… wait for a better release…

Dont really see any major point in downloading this release to be honest. Let’s look at facts. The video res on the Camera’s Original Workprint Release was 640 x 272.
Now R5’s are released “as is” and usually mo Clean Up of Video & or Audio Quality is ever made to these R5 DVD’s.
My Parents get R5 DVD’s from Bali & Singapore, as they have Shat all on TV to watch since they Emigrated over there.
But they were telling me they litterally get 5 R5 Releases for only £1 or $2!!!, which is cool because I wouldnt pay Official Retail Prices for a R5 DVD’s as it’s not the finished product.
Anyway. with that in mind, Bald’s release not only has cropped video (608 x 256) but I reckon the Workprint Release has more “Crispier” Sounding Audio Quality then Bald’s Release, as it lacks a little Treble & to me sounds quite Dull in comparison to the Workprint Audio.
Even thought the Overall Quality of Audio & Video is your usual R5 Quality, but after seeing the Workprint release & Blurring out the “Property Of Logo” then I see no point in downloading a Cropped Release which sounds nothing like the quality I get from the Workprint.
There again I suppose it’s also down to what you view the release on, IE PC, 32inch Plasma, £1000 Home Entertainment System etc, so my final word would be to stick with the Workprint if you already have it, and just use Virtual Dub to remove the Logo if you’ve not got a re-encoded source with it done already.

From what I see, the audio IS in sync for me, I’m skipping a minute or two each time, and it’s working well for me, but yeah, the audio sounds sort of hollow… Also, the end war scene is sped up a wee too fast… I mean they sped up the frame rate in the movie for the battle effect… But in this release, the fight scene is sped up a little too fast. Quality is still amazing, and I’m now getting universal’s release for even better quality and the hopes that the end scene isn’t sped up beyond what it’s supposed to be.
And First Blood will always be the best, with this coming in second
WTF,this is supposed to be aprox 120 mins where is the rest????????????.

how can some people think its not out of sync?…are you people watching the people talking or just looking at the scenery?..it goes in and out of sync, its hardly noticable but, totally should wait for a better version if you havent watched it yet.

Dont think the Bald #2 Release is actually a Bald Release.
Just checked the .NFO File included with the 2nd Bald Release, and nothing is mentioned under the Notes Section to imply that any issues were solved from the first release.
Taken from Bald’s Original NFO from First Release :
“Notes:-
English audio taked from the source DVD.
Some weird interlacing on the source – fixed except for the end credits where full
progressive frames couldn’t be recovered.”
Also Universal’s Release appears to come with Dolby 5.1 & Claim that their DVD-R Release is “Untouched” (With exception to cutting short 4 of the 9 Mins of Credits at the end to save messing with the original source.
So I wouldnt get to excited about the Bald #2 Release.

the movie is an r5 with the picture being very clear with english audio from the workprint version. it is out of sync throughout the movie.
Update: Rambo.4.2007.DD5.1.R5.XViD-DD51F4NS just released.
Just a note to say the the DVD9 has the same sync issues… That means the sync issues are ON SOURCE, it’ll be a day or two before a fix pack or a proper are released.
Also, this ISN’T R5 video with the workprint audio, English 5.1 is actually on the R5 DVD! But as stated already it’s out of sync
P.S.
If you can handle the sync issues then this is perfectly watchable, it’s not a world out and if you’re enjoying this movie with a couple of cold ones (LIKE YOU SHOULD BE DOING!) then you might not even notice at all!
It slips out for a minute or 2 here and there until about 51mins in then it’s out of sync by about 200msec until the end, it won’t give you a headache and considering how early it is we should all suck it up
OMG…OMG…OMG….and i can go on like this for God knows how long. I saw this movie just now. Its not nuked, its very good quality but i wished the sound was little better. I am not reviewing this movie or anything of that sort and nor am i going to say any thing that will make it a spoiler.
Its natural when you cry seeing some emotional scene in a movie of its type, but believe me when i say this, i literally had tears in my eyes when i saw this movie and its not because of some emotional scene but rather the most BEAUTIFUL ACTION MY EYES HAVE EVER WITNESSED. THAT KIND OF ACTION WHICH FEELS LIKE AS IF YOU INJECTED YOUR SELF WITH ADRENALINE every time you see what you see. JUST WATCH THIS MOVIE AND MAKE SURE YOU SEE IT BEFORE YOU ARE CREMATED. WHAT A Fking MOVIE.
Bottom line from a guy who just watches the movie without all that tech crap it is a VERY watchable movie!!!! If you go into it looking for it to be out of sync you will notice it a little. If you have been waiting to see a perfect copy of this why not wait a day or two more for the proper. If you have already seen it then its a great copy to watch and get all the things you missed the first time. To make a long story short it is a really good copy just not perfect!!

What the heck?! Man, Bald #2 is the exact same release as number one. The only difference is that it’s UNPACKED (no zip files
)!!!! It’s 699.07MB, the exact same as the unpacked file, and the Universal DVDR is the EXACT SAME SOUND QUALITY AS BaLD’S RELEASE.
Just to clear up any rumors.
Universal’s release does say it’s untouched… Untouched video. The sound is the same sound quality as BaLD’s release, the only difference is the video quality is slighty better… Believe me, as I have BaLD’s and am also getting Universal’s because of video quality difference. I saw the sample, and the sound slips in and out of the hollow-ish sound quality. Please stop complaining and just wait until Scene finds a real copy, that way no rumors will be spread like BaLD #2.
There always seems to be more crap posts than actual reviews of the release, so to save people scrolling through every page looking for quality feedback, i’ll add my bit for those who havn’t downloaded yet.
This and the Universal DVDR (atleast, unsure of other releases) are from the same apparent R5 source. The thing is, that so called R5 source is in actual fact nothing more than a foreign Telecine with out of sync (in places) dubbed English audio. It’s not real 5.1 either, and seems pretty much the same audio as the previous Workprint release, which is quite often tinny and distorted.
Out of the those 2, the Universal release has the better quality video as it’s not compressed as much as the Xvid, but still isn’t 100% perfect. My advice is if you want a decent copy hold out as one will appear soon for sure.

Video Quality looks like a workprint, just a bit improved. And the Audio is just plain bad, always going in “Flang” and “invert Flang”. This movie really deserves a better copy. When is the DvDrip coming of this??
And also could someone please update me on the status of CLoverfield and when is a DVDrip or R5 of it to gonna come? also when is ‘Jumper’ expected in better quality??

I’ll pass on watching the ART or BALD or UNIVERSAL and wait for the PROPER. I got time. It was only released here yesterday. Will delete the BALD version I got. Thanks to those whose feedback appreciate’s quality over just having it or seen it. Because this release has bad audio. End of story.

Oh my gosh… This is better quality than a workprint. If you don’t like BaLD’s copy, get the Universal DVDR; that looks like a direct film reel (ex: watch the sample of the dvd, night time looks like a film reel, like the background has the tiny dots for darkness, like it’s HD; hence film reel). And BaLD #2 IS THE EXACT SAME, JUST IT IS NOT ZIPPED AND HAS NO SAMPLE!!!!!!!!! frig, read the posts.
And the audio doesn’t fade in and out… it fades to a hollow style audio… You made it sound like the whole sound isn’t there..
STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT A GREAT QUALITY MOVIE. You guys suck. Read before you post about asking about this copy or the BaLD #2 (THE SAME COPY!!!!)

You know what? I think this actually may be a workprint copy, not an R5 copy… I mean, some things are a bit weird in this rls, like the end battle being sped up to that of the Disney Channel, I mean in the real movie it run like a normal action movie, not like beyond normal speed… Soo Zorin might be right! lol Plus the credits are cut down and such, and audio is highly unlikely to be taken from dvdscreener… Still, let’s just sit back and watch the movie!

Just to chill everyone down a notch.
Just watched the bald release, and its fine. Streamed from pc to xbox running XBMC there was no noticeable sync issues, the sound quality is pretty bad but its watchable. The movie has 1 section (hunt) where a few scenes are sped up.
Video quality was fine during the entire film.
Video 9 (overall good, not DVD quality but like other R5’s)
Audio 5 (pretty bad “reverb” thing going on, no sync issues for me)
