Radiohead – In Rainbows (2007)
A first webrip of Radiohead’s new album In Rainbows appeared on the scene earlier today. This popular rock band did a really great job on the album and you can enjoy 10 new hit songs now (could be little more though). The full version of “In Rainbows” is scheduled to 3rd December, when should the discbox appear (it will feature second CD and some extra material), so you get this with almost 2 months advance. The MP3 version of album is available for free, as we informed few weeks ago.
In Rainbows is the seventh studio album by the English rock band Radiohead. It was first released on October 10, 2007 as an MP3 download, and is scheduled to be released on December 3, 2007 as a “discbox” with a second CD of additional material. The band are to finalise a record deal sometime in early October, and In Rainbows will most likely be released as a standard CD in January 2008. The band have worked on the follow-up to 2003’s Hail to the Thief for more than two years, beginning in early 2005. This release ended the longest gap between Radiohead albums since the beginning of their career.
The album, helmed by longtime Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich, is available in two versions via the band’s new, rainbow-y site: as a standard download or as a deluxe edition that comes with Rainbows on both CD and vinyl, plus a second disc of new songs and a lyric book. The deluxe edition runs £40 (about $81). The download version costs whatever you want it to, the price field left blank with only a pair of notes from the band — “It’s up to you” and “No, really. It’s up to you” — serving as a Jiminy Cricket to potential customers.

why would anyone download this on a torrent ?
It’s a great album, and well worth getting. The added bonus of being able to pay whatever you want, even if it is £0.00 is also very cool….
…but it begs the question. Why are people downloading it from torrent sites rather than just going to the Radiohead website & getting it directly from there? It doesn’t cost anything if you want a free copy, and you’re showing support to a band that, love them or hate them, really do deserve some credit!
Still, well done to the band for giving the greedy corporate music industry the biggest ‘f**k you’ to date!

There is no “best quality encode” radiohead released the album at 160 kbps CBR. So any higher encodes will be transcode’s and you will actually most likely loose some of the (although low) quality. So be wary of anything claiming to be 320kbps, V0, V1, V2 or even FLAC. Just download the version of the official Radiohead site!
Ahh yeah and the nfo you linked says its from retail and not a re-encode? There is no retail version even made yet, Radiohead haven’t finnished their distribution deal, and they will only print as many CD’s as which are ordered.

Try before you buy? Are you serious?
A band gives away an album, giving you the option to pay anything you want, and you decide to go download off a torrent? Why not just get the album for free from the official website, listen, then make a judgement & pay?
Incidentally, the scene release at 48.8mb is exactly the same size as the official retail. I’d imagine that it is just the original retail zip file with some NFO details from someone boasting about how 1337 they are.
Do yourself, and the band a favour, and just get the original release.

Good! Whether they’re has-beens or not, it means more free legal music for us, and the music industry dropping image-ridden flash-in-the-pan prefab popstarz when they realise nobody’s buying what they’re selling.
Of course the h3rb release is identical to the MP3s from the website. After all, that’s what the “-WEB-” in the foldername stands for!
Just tried to download from the website, it doesn’t work for me – even after enabling Java Script. Definitely not Linux/Firefox friendly. Getting the Torrent was a matter of three clicks, on the other hand. Why should I jump through hoops for a 160 kBit/s CBR, ancient-LAME encode?
Why I grabbed the torrent: I tried ten different times to get through to the band’s website on release day to download it from them. No luck. Tried later in the day and still no joy. So only then did I download the torrent. Took 25 seconds to download.

These guys rock, great initiative, and I’d say they don’t give a flying hoopla if we get it for free from there or somewhere else.

Very dumb comment. Radiohead is one of the biggest and most popular bands in the world. Just because they don’t play on MTV next to sucky ass “artists” like 50 Cent doesn’t mean it’s not true.
Now this is the most worthless release ever. Are people so greedy that they cant even pay 0.45 pounds (credit card manipulation fee)?! Or did the group wanted cheap release without any effort? This is just pathetic..

Oh my god, a .92 cent handling fee!!!?? I guess I’ll have to make my 16 ounce Latte a 12 ounce instead. I paid 6 bucks plus the .92 cent handling fee for the album off their website, and I’m sitting here listening to the song “Reckoner” on my stereo at top volume, and i feel like i ripped the band off. Even though it’s at 160 kbps bit rate, it sounds great. And in january, i’ll go out and buy the physical cd. Their music is worth it.

Firstly the only source for In Rainbows at the moment are 160 kbps CBR mp3’s from the Radiohead site. This means ANY torrent claiming to be 192, 256, 320, V0, V1, V2, FLAC is either a lie or a transcode.
Secondly you don’t have to pay money on their site to download it, as Radiohead have stated it’s up to you how much you pay. If you choose to pay nothing, you don’t have to put in credit card details so there is no credit card handling fee. You get it for FREE. So can people please stop spreading rumours about paying 0.45 pence, £1, etc.
How ironic that MTV has already decided to declare this Radiohead album a “failure”. MTV would stand to lose the most if this format of music distribution took over from the typical top 40 music that gives priority to glitz and glamour over real artistic talent.

Ah, proof yet again — as if any more were really needed — that all of the “CDs/movies/books are too expensive and that’s why I steal them!” excuses are pure BS. For all the come on download from radioheads website. May i borrow your credit card please.CANT WAIT TO SEE THE PRICE OF THE CONCERT TICKETS. Although i admire radiohead for this experiment imo i think lots of people and fans should remember radiohead are controlled in some way by the record label,would they really agree to this if it was going to be such a big disaster. this puts pirating in the headlines which is no good thing.
I opologise there is no fee of any sort and no need for credit cards all that is required is a little patience while waiting in a Q still think it reminds labels and the like they must do all they can to stop people from obtaining free downloads.Be interesting to see if this is a regular thing with radiohead.
