DEViSE, well known p2p group has released re-encode of previously released Race.to.Witch.Mountain VHS.SCREENER.XviD-ROAR. They made (crop) it into 16/9 widescreen format, fixed colors as they stated in their NFO. Check video sample.

Plot: For years, stories have circulated about a secret place in the middle of the Nevada desert, known for unexplained phenomena and strange sightings. It’s called Witch Mountain, and when a Las Vegas cab driver (Dwayne Johnson) finds two teens with supernatural powers in his cab, he suddenly finds himself in the middle of an adventure he can’t explain. They work together to discover that the only chance to save the world lies in unraveling the secrets of Witch Mountain, and the race begins.

    bad job devise, why would you re-encode this to 16:9 and cut out parts of the picture when you could have re-encoded it to 16:10 without cutting out the picture?

    I have a 16:10 aspect ratio copy I made myself that doesn't cut any part of the video out. If anyone would like it, tell me and I'll upload it.

    what a crappy thing to do, the source itself is probably a pan and scan cut, meaning, if the film is intended to be 16:9, there was already a loss of 1/4 of the picture and with their cropping, another 3/16 of the original movie frames are gone as well. so what results is you're only getting 9/16 of the original movie frames. why would people even bother to watch this? And why does it even get a whole article here? This is just a crappy p2p encode done by a moron for morons. Ah well, z.e.r.o.s.e.c..w.s is where the good stuff is at then these days.

    the aspect ratio looks screwed up at 16:9 times, it looks better at 16:10 and it doesn't cut out the picture. At 16:9 it makes the people to thin looking unless you do a devise re-encode and make it look good but end up cutting out most of the freaking picture!!!

    What I did to my copy that I'm uploading to megaupload because I'm a nice guy. Is changed the aspect ratio to 16:10 and the whole picture is still in it and none of the picture is cut out.

    And if you want to burn it to dvd use tmpgenc as the program to convert to dvd and leave it at vga so it doesn't convert to 4:3 or 16:9. Dvd players do support 16:10, so that is why I do not know why this hack-job was done on this video.

    Encode with Muxman after tmpgs done and then ifoedit! And then burn with Neroburning rom! And you got yourself a dvd with aspect ratio of 16:10 and with the whole picture in it!

    Cropping it doesn't make sense as you lose even more of the picture. At least it looks a 1000 times better than the vhs screener, at least from the sample it does. I will still wait for a better copy, as I already got the copy from yesterday and wasted my time.

    OMFG, i thought Devise were a reputeable non scene release group. Tursn out they are bunch of kids that have no idea! Why the hell would they crop out half the bloody picture! This movie was prolly shot in widescreen, cropped to 4:3, then cropped again to 16:9. You end up with what, 1/4 of the original picture? Im never downloading devise again.
