Quid Pro Quo is the name of a new limited thriller released lately by group SAPHiRE. This flick includes some mysterious elemets and the main roles are played by Nick Stahl and Vera Famiga, who both give an impressive performance. Although it was opened only with 4 screens in the whole States, this movie actually has something to offer. Ripped to classic 1 CD release, Spanish subtitles included.

Public Radio investigative reporter Isaac Knott just happens to be confined to a wheel chair. In the course of doing a story about disability wanna-be’s, Isaac traverses a surreal world of fetishism and transgressive eroticism that recalls the unique perspectives of Luis Bunuel and Alfred Hitchcock. In the course of Isaac’s investigation, he finds Fiona–or she finds him–and she offers him a window into a dark place that exists somewhere between reality and dreams. Her life’s aspiration is to be crippled, or at least perceived as such. She’s beautiful and successful, yet she longs to be physically destroyed to regain some spiritual transcendence in her life.

    1. Fiona confesses that she was the girl who caused the accident

    2. As Isaac is trying to leave, Fiona tells him that his paralysis is hysterical, as in it’s psychologically manifested, not physically caused.

    3. She asks, “What makes a person want to be paralyzed, who isn’t?”

    4. He has a flashback of the accident. Prior to this (as he mentions in an earlier flashback), his memory of the events leading up to the accident end at where his mom kisses his dad and throws him a hard candy, and he doesn’t remember anything that happens after that. This time he finally remembers:

    In the (slow-mo) seconds leading up to the accident, he had been playing with the lock on his side of the door. IMMEDIATELY after he pulls up the lock, Fiona’s car plows into theirs, killing his parents. There’s a brief shot of him as a blood-splattered boy waking up on the ground.

    It’s meant to imply that even though it’s obviously only a coincidence that Fiona killed his parents right after he pulled the lock, as a little boy he internalized it as somehow he had caused the accident. Paralysis was a manifestation of his subconscious guilt.

    Thanks for the megashares link. I hope more people start switching over. Rapidshare and their horrible limits and high prices isn’t worth it. Use megashares for no limit and very cheap price ($25/6 months). You can even get a lifetime membership. 5gb/day just isn’t enough for me.
