No question that Freddie Mercury was a one of a kind vocal talent. With that said I have to follow that comment by saying that Paul Rodgers deserves to be mentioned in the same breath. While they are completely different in terms of image and style they do have one trait very much in common… that they are two of only a handful of singers that operate on a different (ie: higher) level than 99% of both young and old rock vocalists. To say Rodgers is “dreadful” or “ok” as a singer is absolutely absurd. If he was truly that average why in the world would Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Buddy Guy, The Four Tops, Rod Stewart, Slash, Sam Moore and countless other world class musicians either have played with him and/or sung his praises and influence as a rock vocalist? The guy has an amazing voice that is unique, powerful and technically capable of adapting to any number of styles. Freddie Mercury himself loved Paul Rodgers voice and this is coming from a guy who many consider to be the best that ever lived. No offense to those who feel that way about Rodgers but I wouldn’t want to share a foxhole with you.

Brian May and Roger Taylor have a right to continue to write and perform music with whoever they wish. This is what they do and I wish them the best in their future endeavors. Paul Rodgers deserves credit for walking into this bonfire by virtue of just being Paul Rodgers.

Thanks for all the charity work that you three are involved in. I seldom see that mentioned among all the carping about this merger not really being Queen.

this is not Queen nor should any one compare it to Queen.
Brain May and Roger Taylor are musicians, that is what they do.
I hope they are happy with what they are doing.

I am stile waiting for rare music to come out of the Queen vault and there are some clips that haven’t been digitized, such as the clips that appear on the Innuendo album.

Hope to hear and see them one day

Bad Company and Queen were two of my favorite bands when I was in high school in 1978. They both have powerful lead singers with different styles and when I heard Paul was going to sing with the remaining members of Queen I was waiting for a listen which is why I am here now. But checking out these comments cracks me up. What’s so hard to believe that a relative is commenting? I have a relative who played guitar in a pretty famous band. Also, what’s wrong with Brian May doing what he love’s?

It’s a nice album. I’m glad it leaked onto the ‘net, otherwise I would have missed it, probably, because I didn’t actually expect this combo to release a studio album. Now that I’ve downloaded it, I’m going to buy it. That’s why this is a good thing, lichi, and you can tell your uncle that, if you like.

When I saw The Brian May Band live in my home town many years ago, it was a celebration of what Queen was (among other things), and Queen + Paul Rodgers is the same thing. I take this album as an added bonus. Roger Taylor and Brian May have written many a good song up until now, and even though I don’t particularly like Paul Rodgers’ voice, I still appreciate that new stuff is coming out.

paul rodgers has been voted at certain times as the best lead singer in the world,i loved freddie and queen but im thankful to still get 70s type new rock music instead of listening to the same songs for 20 years,are you telling me free and bad company were crap,ask people like jimmy page,robert plant and other rock legends what they think of paul rodgers and they know more than any of you hacks,enjoy music freddies not coming back,your closing your minds,same happened with inxs

I don’t mind them going on cause this is what they do best. But don’t use the good name of Queen. I mean, Queen end Paul Rodgers??? There is no Queen without Freddy Mercury, period. I listened to the album and it’s very good, but I can’t help thinking this is not Queen but yet they use it and thats wrong.

Well, at first, before listening to this album, which I will buy as soon as posible when arrive to my country, I used to agree with many of you here. I’m a huge Queen’s fan, since the 70’s. I had been to the legendary concert of them in 1981 in my country Argentina. But now, I’ve changed my mind. I thought carefully about it and after listening to the cd, many times now, I have to say that this album rocks. Now, I’m willing to leave the past where it really belongs, into the past. I won’t cry nor protest about Freddie, Queen’s name, pointless and stupid comparisons between Freddie and Paul Rodgers (Freddie was a big fan of him, please note this). And who in this world am I to not let them to do what they do best, MUSIC???????? There many good songs in this cd. And most of those songs are better that most songs that we listen on the radio today, including all that hip hop crap that has invaded the charts today, with a lot of people who CAN’T sing, singing and making millions by only rapping over music that excellent musicians actually created not copied, in the past. So, please, listen to this cd. Listen without prejudice. Listen with the heart. And let the past, be in the past. I love Freddie, and he wanted Queen to continue. Like other said above, without May, it would not have been Queen either. Sorry my poor english. I hope you can understand what I’m saying.
