Group FRAGMENT released a dvdrip of an HBO movie PU-239, also known as The Half Life of Timofey Berezin. This critically acclaimed drama deals with a black market and illegal activities with plutonium and other radioactive chemicals in Russia. The 1 CD release contains English, French and Spanish subtitles and standard image quality.

First-time writer/director Scott Burns spins this suspenseful yarn about a nuclear technician who has a curious encounter with a notoriously violent Russian gangster (Nikolaj Lie Kaas). The year is 1995, and Timofey (Paddy Considine) is a nuclear power-plant worker in post-Soviet Russia. After being exposed to dangerous levels of radiation while working to avert a disaster, Timofey discovers that the authorities have deliberately misled him about the severity of his exposure, and that he will likely die in just a few days. Determined to provide for his wife (Radha Mitchell) and young son before he succumbs to the effects of radiation, Timofey absconds with a small amount of weapons grade plutonium, straps the vial to his body, and makes his way to Moscow in hopes of making a quick and profitable sale in the criminal underground.

    THE DIRECTOR
    Scott Z. Burns, who co-wrote the screenplay for The Bourne Ultimatum. He’s referred to Pu-239 as a combination of dark comedy and tearful drama.

    Burns also co-produced the Al Gore documentary An Inconvenient Truth, and is scheduled to write The Informant for Soderbergh (who co-exec-produced Pu-239 with George Clooney… notice a trend here?). Oh and here’s another connection: Matt Damon is set to star in The Informant.

    That is surely a great camera I am jealous lol, good luck and hope to see your work on here someday! And as for this film, I just downloaded it in 3 minutes off of usenet with Fios, and even those 3 minutes are a waste of time. Movie is full of propaganda, and probably subliminal brainwashing like the USA is doing to all of their films. My advice, stay away from this trash. Video quality is great anyways for those who like being brainwashed.

    I enjoyed this film when it was aired on HBO, hence not downloading the film.

    But if you are deciding to download to watch, go ahead, you probably won’t be disappointed.

    I’m not really impressed by anyone who thinks they are “scene”. Or in the “scene”. It has to be the lamest attempt at trying to fit in on of all places…the internet. I gotta give it up to people who go out of their way to bring me movies I wouldn’t otherwise spend money on but I have to say if you think youre cool because you pirate movies or because you have a better looking NFO or do it for internet approval you should seriously evaluate your pathetic little life.

    That’s quite fitting as a very concise characterisation of Pu-239. I really enjoed this movie. I saw it a few days ago and while then I was not very much impressed (but well entertained) it’s images and dialogue continue working in my brain. It reminds me of the radiation poisoning and dying of Alexander Walterowitsch Litwinenko in London, some 16 months ago.

    Co-executive producers are - amongst others - George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh. I am starting to like films that are somehow connected to George Clooney.

    i DL this over the weekend. havent seen it yet, had a quick look and im a bit disappointed in that the FILM SPEECH IS ENGLISH.

    it makes it a bit flawed (for me) watching a film thats takeing place in Ukraine and that is spoken in english…
