18. MrGuy, yeah there is a way.Try rebooting your router, this way your IP will be renewed if you dont have a static IP of caurse and it takes only about 1-2' really.There are also programms to do the job all be itself.I think i gave enough f00d for thought.Now, why dont you start googling?

As of yet, there does not seem to be a MP Mode. That kind of news would have made its way round pretty fast, I think.
There is however the possibility, that multiplayer will be made available later on as DLC.

Why do n-oobs always say stuff like this? Usenet is quite clearly far better than using torrents, because you're not relying on other users for speeds, you don't have to maintain a share ratio, and it's more secure. I guess if you can't afford it, you have to stick with torrents, but to think Usenet is inferior is a joke.

Usually, the game should work perfectly well on any 64Bit OS.

im using vist 64 os and every game i play runs beautifully except one game won't run, crysis warhead…but hey its life.
i know what your problem is most of the cracks have something called data execution, so they get blocked and you got to run the file as admin, then add it as an exception it will guide you once you run it as admin…just use your efing brain

I agree that usenet rocks. You can't beat getting unlimited instant downloads downloading at 1.5 mb/s – 3.0 mb/s, for 15 bucks a month. I download whole dvds in 30 minutes for crying out loud. And as far as being out of date, thats just not true. Everything is posted on newsgroups alot of times before its even on this site. Way faster than torrents no question. and unsafe? have you lost your mind. I have used newsgroups for over 5 years. Downloading every new game and movie the day its released to the scene and i have never got a phone call or email or anything. And I know its 100% safer than torrents.

Lol @ people using torrents. The only people who use torrents are kids who are poor and can't afford a decent usenet account, period.

I have a giganews unlimited account paired with an nzbmatrix VIP account which means I download at a CONSTANT speed of 2MB/s. I had this game downloaded in just under 40 minutes with true SSL encryption. Good luck being able to do that reliably and safely with torrents without having to hide behind 7 proxies and seed for days on end, lol. Torrents are a half ass decent option if I can't find something on usenet which isn't very often.

Face it torrent fan-girls – you fail.

@116: When all is said and done I pay about $30 a month for usenet. I download one game or 4 movies and I've already recouped my monthly expenditure. That sounds like pretty good money management to me.

As far as Prototype goes, no problems to report whatsoever. I have AA on 2x, shadow and detail on high. No sound issues. No crashes or stutters or anything, even during intense gameplay. It's a lot of fun so far!

I have a Core 2 Duo at 2.66ghz per core, 4gb RAM, 8600 GT. Dell Dimension DXP061.

To those having sound problems and wondering if they're the only one, I'm having sound problems as well.

When I open the game, I get a black screen and a Windows error sound. If I hit Esc, it goes to the Activision logo video, then to the menu, but there is no sound at all. I can even load up the first level and play a bit, and everything functions fine, except there is not sound. :/

This game runs extremely well and coded properly.

Only one slight problem… the sound volume is very low.

Other than that, getting about 50-60fps at 2560×1600 all settings max, no AA.

Phenom 940 + 4890 vista x64.

I'm also downloading this game at a constant 2 MB/s speed. You could even say 2.5 MB/s. It takes an hour, not "just under 40 minutes". I got to "just under 40 minutes" by downloading for 20 minutes, and I think that so did everyone else. You fail.

ok got this from giganews and just it refuses to work at all, after installing, copying crack over etc then click icon to start game i get a black screen for about 8secs then i get an error telling me 'prototype has stopped working', i have vista x32 ultimate, 4 gigs memory, nvidia gt260 with latest drivers, latest directx (march 2009), even tried removing and reinstalling my nvidia drivers and then directx but no joy

Ok Heres how I fixed my audio problems with the Chipmunky sound

In my audio control panel software I turned the sample rate down to 44.1 and the bit depth to 16 bit

Now I imagine not all of our audio software will have these options but hopefully you guys can mess around and find out how to get it working. VIA HD audio Deck is what mine is called.

The crack is working perfectly (at least for me). It doesn't crash at the 2 helicopters part in the tutorial at all. Overall the game is pretty good, except the sound is unusually low even when max.

@143 eemix, Logitech's game pad should work as I'm using a Logitech's dual action controller and it's working fine.

Guys,

Damn, the game installs properly, I apply the crack properly but when I start it my monitor goes black and it shows up an OSD message 'INPUT NOT SUPPORTED' but I can hear the game's music on the background.

If I ALT-TAB back to my desktop everything is fine. 015

My windows 7 desktop is 1920X1080. Maybe the game is trying to use some weird resolution by default? I tried to find prototype config files in the system, but to no avail…

Anyone having this issue? Goddamn I really wanted to try the game today And I don't even know if I buy it (was thinking about it) the issue still remains.

Another idea: If anyone installed the game and is running it fine, could you find the config files location and share them for me to try? thanks in advance.

For those who have rapidshare premium accounts you are still only allowed to download 2 gigs a day ( if this has not changed) buy yourself some more bandwitdh traffic, it is dirt cheap and you'll be able to download any amount of data per day until your bandwith is exhausted, then you just top it of…i do not use torrents anymore, they are slow, companies are probably sniffing on their traffic…i can get what i need in a few hours instead of week or even weeks…yes not everything is on rabbitshare or the "other" share companies but when it is you can at least enjjoy it real fast…awesome for TV shows you might have missed…torrents are popular because they are user friendly but that is it…the system behind it is out of date and will probably die some time down the road when people get tired of waiting week(s) for files…their are other ways to get what you need…now if rabbitshare would just use encryption, we would be all set…

I click OK and it closes… every time… Never had any problems with Razor games before and a lot of you seem to have been playing this release. Does anyone know how to fix my problem (pref without downloading another full copy of the release?)

Nope, doesn't work. Tried setting up my desktop to other well known resolutions (1680X1050, etc).
Tried passing on commands to the executable like '-1920X1080', etc. Also won't work.

My guess is that the game is trying by default to use a resolution not supported my by monitor. My only hope is to manually edit the config file, the problem is I CAN'T FIND THE DAMN CONFIG FILE ANYWHERE!

just selected the .001 file and the sfv.

to clarify, i am using theelders megaupload links, and my problem is;

trying to use 7z with the .001 file it just extracts for a looong time, and then i get a error

BUT it looks as if everything still extracts in the iso, but when i mount it i get the setup.exe problems that the previous posts were mentioning

if i try and use 7z with any other part file, e.g .002, it instantly gives me this error instead of the long extract.

I tried Xpadder yesterday. It's working, but it's not feeling comfortable, as its mapping the stick to asdw, so the movements aren't as fluent as a POV Hat.

I'll try with Emu-Joy360, but in all the others "Game for Windows", like devil may cry 4, assassin's creed, bioshock, etc., my PS3 controller is detected as a xbox360 controller, so it's strange that prototype doesn't. I'm using btsix.

Just had 3-4 hours in the game and it is quite impressive for a console game, dual shock 2 and 3 gets recognized properly here but I still take kb+mouse combo anyday.

My only woes are that they could've add higher textures and more shadows on the PC version

This one shows how games are ported properly (shame on you rockstar, konami and capcom!!!!).

But you change your sound depth to 44.1 and your bit depth to 16 and your audio will work like its intended.

@222. Yeah, here's a news flash – your "fix" doesn't apply to everyone. I too do not have any sound whatsoever, and have an onboard soundcard which does not have the option to adjust sound depth and bit rate.

My guess is that it has something to do with that new "groundbreaking" sound technology they boasted about.

@240.gfs: where you adjust it depends on what sound card you have. I have an on-board one so I use "Realtek HD Audio Manager" So basically you have to open up the "control panel" (Start > Control Panel), select your sound card manager (for example mine is called: Realtek HD Sound Effect Manager) and try to find those settings.

Game is not up to the Hype which was created by Activision. It's absurdly fast with no time to see what is gng arnd and every1 is pouncing on you with no feel of realism. I believe it's a mix of Hulk and Wolverine. Cinematic are good and some special effects are nice but overall i'd rate the game as 6.5/10. Even on a Quad Core with 8 gigs of RAM and a GTX 285 the game felt pretty kiddish…….Not up to the expectation from a company like Acticvision….I believe Modern warfare in Q4 will recover Activision from this loss.

So I downloaded from the megaupload links, all 38 of em, then i extracted the files in a central location, and then I used HJsplit to join the files, and now I have one big file of 7 gb's called 'rzr-prot' that has no extension so I can't tell which program to use it with. Yes i have already tryied n°45 and it work for me.
when I load a saved game after that i close and reopen the game, I receive an error "memory cannot be read" which does not prevent me from playing until I did not the "ok" from message of mistake.
It does that only if I close the game but if I start again from scratch I can load saved games

hey guys – i had the same problem regarding the helicopter cut scene at the beginning of the game. i was quite desperate and nothing i tried (updating drivers etc) worked….

then i just tried something else and you probably won't believe me…

before you reach the part where the game freezes, try to
approach the building from an other SIDE. yes.
this sounds crazy. for me it worked. i always tried to climb up the building from the southern side, just the waye the waypoints directed me. then i tried to jump back down on the street and climb the building up from the opposite side… it worked lol!!

I managed to fix the sound problem, but don't really know which of these steps did the trick(I have Realtek HD Audio):
1. Uninstall Realtek HD Audio drivers
2. Uninstall NVidia 3D Vision drivers
3. Uninstall Prototype
4. Install latest Realtek drivers from their webpage
5. Install Prototype (install directx 9.0c even you have directx 10)
6. Crack and play – no error messages

Oh, and I'm running Vista 64x

THIS IS HOW I OVERCOME THE "PROTOTYPE HAS ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM.." CRASH TO DESKTOP. It happens when I try to "Continue" a save game.

1) Start Prototype
2) Start a NEW GAME (just use the save slot at the top)
3) Skip cut scene and when you have control EXIT TO MENU
4) Now press CONTINUE and select the save game slot you want to load
5) Play! Save game when you want to, but don't use the first slot
6) Realize it's really just another mediocre game with nothing really new and there is very little point exploring the city. Be glad you didn't pay for it.

This works for me, your mileage may vary.

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that a folder "root\ \setup\rsrc" is created on a hard drive where the game is not installed while installing the game? For example, suppose the game is installed on C drive, then the folder I mentioned is created on D drive while installing the game.
I manually deleted the folder because it is useless but wonder why it happened.

aye number 271 I had the same probelm and it turned out that its your crack. What I did was uninstall the application and then i download a different crack and I noticed that the crack I had the size was 860,997 the new one I downloaded was 2,269,232 so instantly I knew there was some major difference. Number 235 is the crack I downloaded that worked. GL

Yeah, i managed to solve the problem out of pure luck. I fired up the game and while listening to the background sound of the menus, i tried blindly to enter the resolution change option. 30min later I successfully changed the default resolution (don't know what it was) and i've been rocking ever since.

Then the game actually wrote a config file to the hard drive. Unfortunately it's not a plain text file, but a binary. If you want, I can change the game to the resolution you use and then send you the config file.

Just tell me if you need it

@247 : decompress the 001 files with Izarc (free compression/decompression tools), you'll have the .iso extension file.

I had the same problem with xtremsplit and hjsplit.

Izarc does the trick.

i fixed it, what i had to do was, change my audio settings in my realtek hd audio manager, to 44100khz, i read that in some1 else's post, then i downloaded the dxwebsetup, it installed some optional stuff, and my sound worked correctly.

my PS gamepad works fine. no configuring needed. game recognized it and buttons were same as xbox buttons.

Hi, i've been having a problem when trying to run the setup. Unrar'ing seems to work fine, but when i try to install from the quickstart menu OR the setup file within the mounted .iso the install wizard closes and i get an error message '1158:' with no description.
After trying to extract the files from within the .iso, an error came up saying that a file, 'movies.rcf' may be corrupt. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it.

I am running Vista32 SP2, intelcorei7 cpu, intel dx58so mobo, 3gb 1600mhz dominator ram, asus gtx260.

One result says change EnableLangDlg=N to EnableLangDlg=Y in the setup.ini file, but you would need to extract the files from the iso before you could do that.

Are you mounting with the latest daemon tools?

I am using daemon 4.08, the newest is 4.3 i think.
I can explore the .iso after it is mounted and copy the files across(except for movies.rcf as mentioned in 291).
I'll try to edit the setup.ini file and let you know if it works. Also i will install the newest daemon tools and try with that.

i loaded the iso image into imgburn and noticed the label name was Magic ISO(yuk). downloaded and installed Magic iso and was able to extract the movies.rcf

360 pad and big screen lcd is a must for this game. Runs on full details no probs on a c2q 3ghz with 260gtx. Takes a while to master the controls theres so many different moves. The game throws you in the deep end to begin with and just chucks you in a battle, but after that the game explains itself. My rating 8 out of ten very fun great destruction.

To those of you having low volume issue like me – try setting 5.1 or 7.1 surround in your windows volume settings menu, this will make some sounds like shooting/kicking higher, tho voices might become quieter.

half your errors are probably from having an outdated system. With a decent system with up to date directx their is no errors.

arminooo, your using a laptop with a low end video card even if you can get the game working it wont run at proper speed. 8400GMS benches at around 1400-1600 in 3dmark06, which is way below par for this game.

to gfs and again to other people.
if you can't hear them talk or sound is low put speakers (if you have 5.1 or above) to stereo or 2.1.
if that doesnt help put format to 16 bits, 44100hz in your audio manager.

the best solution is to use headphones. sound is loud and clear without having to change any settings on the audio manager.

and also if you experience freezing at two helicopter scene early in the game just tab out to windows or shortcut to task manager and go back to the game. it should play fine after that.

game works fine. although i can't seem to pass second mission's start when you have to throw a car to a helicopter. i can throw cars around before the cutscene comes but after that it just doesnt throw even though game continues to work as soldiers come out of helicopter and start shooting at you.

OK GUYS WITH THE INSTALLING PROBLEM! FIGURED IT OUT AND IT WORKS!

Use 7Zip to Open the Setup.exe, inside you will find another Setup.exe and Fizezilla.exe, Extract the Setup.exe and Replace the original Setup.exe.

Its the proper one coz its digitally signed by Activision Publishing.

Hi, i need some help over here. I downloaded the files and extracted the iso, and proceeded to mount the iso onto daemon tools.

However, when i try to install the game from the installer inside the iso, a message pop out {The installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.}

Did anyone encounter a bug in certain areas? In some places I have a bug which goes into the loading screen and keeps loading endlessly. And it happens at the same spot every time. I'm currently stuck at the Open Conspiracy Mission where I need to destroy the patrols with UAVs and I can't get to the 3rd patrol team as there's a section with some texture problem with cars and people dropping through the ground and whenever I cross that area, it'll go into the loading screen.

For those, who have "Error reading setup initializing file" problem, I have a solution, had the same problem. So all You got to do is open setup.exe, as an archive (7zip for example), and then You'll see 2 files in it (filezilla.exe and setup.exe). Now, copy this setup.exe from archive to the ISO image, before deleting main setup.exe. it works!!

sean i guess every review site got it wrong giving the game good marks, we now see the errors of our ways it must be crap if you say it is. Maybe if you used a computer built this century and used a gamepad youd find that to pull the moves off it takes precise button sequences. I bet you didnt even make it through the prolouge of the game.

Just a warning:

This game takes forever to get working properly for like 90% of people and it's only fun for about 10 minutes.

It gets VERY repetitive and I don't think it's possible for anyone to honestly care any less about the story (if there is one to care about, that's debatable IMO).

There are only so many army dudes, innocent bystanders, and mutated creatures you can "consume" or dismember before you uninstall and wonder what all the hype was about. The missions are a repetitive bore, as are the side quests.

Just throwing my two cents in for all the people who still can't install/play the game.

I had no problems getting this game working but i didnt download from any of these sources, id say the links on here are half bogus these days. The game is pretty fun im about 5 hours into it playing with a 360 controller on a big screeen lcd, the graphics arnt state of the art but the gameplay is fast and fun, you cant compare it to assassins creed totally different type of game, this is arcade fast and chaotic action. id rate it 7.5 out of 10
