I don’t have the copy’s anymore of the mail they send to him, but i can tell you for a fact, that it involved the Quake 3 & Quake 3 something edition.

Looks like they removed the other edition from Mininova ( used to be the 2 most peered torrents then ). I remember checking it, when he got the mails & informed Mininova about it, but they dident take any action at that time ( at leased the torrent was still active at that time ). This was all about 3 or 4 months ago.

And there information was very detailed. What torrent, date, hour, ip etc ( and a whole bunch of legal mombo jumbo text ) … The information itself came from the US ( nothing they where able to do because he was in Germany ). But they ( his isp ) forwarded it to him anyway.

I did notice the same thing. You might be surprised to hear, that the Quake3 torrents on MiniNova are monitored. Yes, Quake3! How freaking old is that thing. Can you even buy it anymore? A mate of mine was so smart to download it. That same guy also got a few copyright infringement notices for a few movies send to his ISP a year or 2 ago. Ofcourse, nothing came from it.

Why do they even bother monitoring games that are hardly or not even available anymore. Based on the age, you expect to thing to be maybe 3$ in the bin of your local store ( if they even sell it anymore ).

Arqentus: it’s hard to say, but most dangerous from this point of view are games and applications – i receive minimum removal requests for tv shows, music and also movies. the funny thing is these guys don’t have a clue how this system works, so it takes some time to explain them we do not have anything at our server. it is also funny when you receive removal request for 2-year old torrent whose tracker is dead for many months so noone can download it…
