Premiere League also sues YouTube
Google’s YouTube has another small problem: English soccer’s Premier League sued Google Inc.’s YouTube on Friday for copyright infringement, the second such legal challenge to the popular video site in two months. According to court documents filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the Football Association Premier League Ltd., better known as the English Premier League, and music publisher Bourne Co. sued YouTube. The lawsuit charges that YouTube deliberately encourages massive copyright infringement on its Web site to generate public attention and boost traffic. This has resulted in the loss of valuable content, the complaint said. The complaint echoes accusations made in March by media conglomerate Viacom Inc., which filed a similar suit against YouTube and Google for over $1 billion in damages.
Google has denied those claims using similar arguments. In a statement, Google general counsel Kent Walker defended the site, saying: ‘These suits simply misunderstand the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, which balances the rights of copyright holders against the need to protect internet communications and content. Lawyers for the Premier League said YouTube provided access to a tool against copyright infringement, but charged that it was “fraught” with problems and that YouTube should do more. Several media companies have reached agreements to supply YouTube with clips, including CBS, General Electric’s NBC Universal and the BBC, but many others remain reluctant to deal with the site because of copyright concerns. Well, I’m also swamped by emails with copyright infrigement notices lately, all of them asking for removal of various torrents from NewTorrents.info. Internet seems to be more and more watched by authorities in these days…

How about posting what torrents they want removed? You know, its better if people know what torrents are monitored or at leased got the attention of some organizations …
Arqentus: it’s hard to say, but most dangerous from this point of view are games and applications – i receive minimum removal requests for tv shows, music and also movies. the funny thing is these guys don’t have a clue how this system works, so it takes some time to explain them we do not have anything at our server. it is also funny when you receive removal request for 2-year old torrent whose tracker is dead for many months so noone can download it…
hey Martin, what were u told to take down recently?
Martin:
I did notice the same thing. You might be surprised to hear, that the Quake3 torrents on MiniNova are monitored. Yes, Quake3! How freaking old is that thing. Can you even buy it anymore? A mate of mine was so smart to download it. That same guy also got a few copyright infringement notices for a few movies send to his ISP a year or 2 ago. Ofcourse, nothing came from it.
Why do they even bother monitoring games that are hardly or not even available anymore. Based on the age, you expect to thing to be maybe 3$ in the bin of your local store ( if they even sell it anymore ).
Is there proof of this monitoring of Q3 torrents ?
OMG
Someone uploaded my video where I am playing some football !
Damn i’m gonna sue those bastards !
To Whoever is watching:
Fuck you, Fuck you, Fuck you, You’re cool, Fuck YOU-
I’m Outta Here.
Mr. X:
I don’t have the copy’s anymore of the mail they send to him, but i can tell you for a fact, that it involved the Quake 3 & Quake 3 something edition.
Looks like they removed the other edition from Mininova ( used to be the 2 most peered torrents then ). I remember checking it, when he got the mails & informed Mininova about it, but they dident take any action at that time ( at leased the torrent was still active at that time ). This was all about 3 or 4 months ago.
And there information was very detailed. What torrent, date, hour, ip etc ( and a whole bunch of legal mombo jumbo text ) … The information itself came from the US ( nothing they where able to do because he was in Germany
). But they ( his isp ) forwarded it to him anyway.
I’m gonna’ sue YouTube as well. Just because I feel like it. Nerrrrrrrrrrrrrr
isn’t spelled Premier League and not Premiere League?
even in the pic, its shows Premier …
Damn lawyers are the only ones who are profitting from copyright legal shitstorm, even they know that the outcomes of these cases are usually non-beneficial to either side.
this is really stupid.. Judge Dredd will become real now these days.. I’m the Law.. bwahaha.. stupid….
