Strike 3 Frado, lol
LOL epic pwnage there!!
@Frado
You probably shouldn’t have hotlinked the screen shot from powerarchiver.com. In case you haven’t noticed yet, its now detecting the rlslog.net referer and displaying a different image.
IZarc kicks the poo out of PowerArchiver and it’s free:
http://www.izarc.org
Hot linking to the site where the software is stolen from…how stupid is that??
is the editor that posted it really that s.tupid?
While we know we can’t stop you guys from stealing PowerArchiver, we do hope you understand that we are a very small software company and if you like using the software (which is free to download, you don’t even need to steal it!), please support us by buying it so we can keep improving it. After all, it’s only $20, not $2000 like Photoshop.
The image was redirected because it was using up a lot of bandwidth (apparently, a lot of people love warezing PA).
So yeah, enjoy PowerArchiver and please considering supporting it in the future.
@31 Nate
If your really from PA then most people’s experience of new software is through such sites as this. Just stop bleating about bandwidth and consider all the free advertising. If your software is really that good and can compete with Winrar, 7zip and Lzarc then most people will cough up the cash.
Happy New Year.
@31
IZarc makers are a small software company also.
IZarc doesn’t offer the same functionality, polished interface, or support that we offer our customers. It’s a fine utility, but obviously many people would rather steal PowerArchiver than use IZarc for free
And it costs money to develop and support a professional product like PowerArchiver.
As for the free advertising, it’s not free when we have to pay for the bandwidth being used (15Mbit/sec) by hotlinking an high-res screenshot. If they hosted the image on rlslog.net, that would be fine.
Like I said, enjoy the cracked version of PowerArchiver and consider paying for it in the future if you like it.
Thanks!
@31
I’m missing the connection between PA and PS
@Nate
I really respect you coming on here and saying your mind, you guys’ company sounds like one that I’d respect and like.
Since you guys are such a small company I think you should reconsider your business model and revise it. Many of the big companies won’t do this because they are being led by old people who don’t understand the internet/modern day world.
I don’t believe these people are so much stealing your software as choosing not to pay for it. A good strategy would be to have people actually care about your company and what it produces. You see it in the gaming industry now, providing your paying users with high quality DLC or other services they would be thankful to use, you’d probably have a bigger consumer base (perhaps you should consider changing the picture this site has hotlinked in something more friendly
).
These modern times require more creative ideas from people in the digital market, I myself have a website on which I provide premium content. I don’t have any fancy security to keep people from stealing it but they pay anyway. Why? Because they actually care enough and they are happy with what I’m providing them with.
I would like to strongly urge you to consider these ideas, even though I have not and will not download this software I believe these ideas to be quite universal.
Regards and best of luck.
the image is awesum
@Nate, its not a good idea to redirect everyone coming from this site, I myself for example very often click on the “Official Site” link the editors at rlslog post every time, I always want to check the makers site of software that interests me but now I get redirected to a stupid picture telling me NOT TO STEAL when I haven’t downloaded anything !
Sites like rlslog, avaxhome etc show us what software is out there, thats why we love them so much. Same goes for games : if we love a game u can count on it we’ll buy the retail version of it, I know a lot of people who think like me.
@dadude Sorry about that — this has been fixed. Only the image redirects now. All links to the site will work just fine.
@Flapster I absolutely agree. We (a team of 5 people total) are very open with our community and exist today only because of the support of our customers who choose to pay for PowerArchiver. Like I said, it’s a shareware product and you can continue using it indefinitely (with a nagscreen) even if you do not pay or crack it. Check out our community here: http://www.powerarchiver.com/forums
@Nate,
I bought PowerArchiver looong ago (2006) cause I found it very useful and it was only $20.
lol at that picture
Wow, just wow.
The BBB image on the front page is reason enough to look else ware. I will not support any business that proudly supports that corrupt organization.
There are however more reasons…
Judging by the info on the site it out performs every other archiving software in speed. yada yadda. Yet, they coat-tail all other formats including open source. If it’s so great, why do you not have your own file format?
Almost every single feature in Power Archiver was created or introduced by another company or open source authors.
The only feature mentioned that isn’t usually available in another open source or shareware application is the batching feature. That alone isn’t compelling enough for me to purchase it.
Wrapping up features and file format support created by other companies in a cutesy GUI with a “Speed increase” won’t sway many people. It’s amazing they have remained in business this long.
Look elsewhere, there are plenty of freeware/open source apps that are much better.
Amen at Rion.
Alot, of companies simply take what’s already out there from Opensource work. Create a fancy GUI, and close source it. They then proceed to charge for something that’s available for free. It’s not fair. I doubt they even donate back to the opensource they borrowed from or release some type of code. I bet if they put this code under review you could link it to many opensource software that already exist to do this, like 7zip, Peazip. Or freeware such as Izarc.
Also, check out FFMpeg, same situation.
The number of NOT FREE applications that are based on FFMpeg alone is astounding. It seems a new one pops up every day. Sad sh*it.
