Poll Results: How old are you?
Here it is another finished poll to wrap up. This time the question asked was “how old are you” and we really got a lot of votes this time around. We collected 13477 votes in one week which is the most we have ever got, even beating the two week poll last week. A big thank you to everyone who took part in the poll which yielded some interesting results.
As can be seen the snapshot of the poll to the left the age group which visits rlslog the most is Adult (25-44) with a total of 7031 votes, over 50% of all of the votes. Seeing as most people see file sharers as spotty faced teenagers, this was a little surprising but nonetheless a nice result. Young Adult (20-25) came second and all the way in third place was Teenager (13-19), not as many of these guys as i would of though. Far far behind is Middle Aged (45-64) with 407 votes with our Senior (65+) pirates coming a close sixth. And the Child (0-12) file sharers coming last with the least amount of votes. Still nice to know there are a few young’uns out there who are not completely brainwashed by anti-piracy groups 
.
As always we have a new poll up for you guys to share your opinion. Entitled “Should we moderate comments for racism, homophobia etc?”. Since we get a lot emails and feedback on the comment system it would be cool to know what the majority of you want. Please vote it doesn’t take long, 5 seconds tops!
If you have any suggestions for poll questions you would like to see don’t hesitate to write us a little comment. Also don’t forget to drop by our IRC channel for chat and a laugh . Cheers.
P.S. The poll isn’t really for concrete research and the results wont be very reliable we realise that, you can however make a loose judgment on the results. But its just for our curiosity and not for some heavy research project so its not really a big problem.

Interesting results. I was thinking that there were most teenagers doing piracy. Surprised to find out that there are most adults doing it, even those who are aged 65+

Well, I don’t know if im the only one that noticed but this poll is basically null and void… you have the age 25 in twice (20-25 & 25-44) so for any one that is 25, how are they supposed to pick which category the fall under? Im sure someone will say “well if theyre birthday has already passed then they would be in the 25-44 category, but the rest of the age groups don’t over lap so this one shouldn’t have. WTF rlslog?

I voted when there was no Age Group yet. Fortunately I voted in the correct one (20-25).
To #4, let’s just say that majority of visitors here are adults, regardless of whether they’re Young Adults or “Adult” Adults.
as far as i can remember “young adult” was beating “adult” for a while…is that true or is my mind makin it up?

also i woulda thought “young adult” woulda won as i think thats the age group where people have the most time and motivation to watch loads of movies, play random games and keep an eye on the latest releases etc

I know you think your some sort of smart arsed moral crusador and that fair enough you can be a sinic all you want and criticise whatever, but do you really need to keep commenting over and over. I’m sure you can say whatever you need to say in one post.
BTW we are just asking what community wants, not trying to have moral authority over them.
You should treat negative comments like digg.com does and let the people “digg down” without some authority making a choice for us. That way new users will have to their own decision whether or not to click and read what mean things that person has said.
get a digg-like commentary system, that way we can thumb down irrelevant crap comments and dig up comments that are witty or informative

Also in responce to the next poll, yes they should be filtered for abuse, racism and well.. anything not relevant to the post. I want to read the comments to find out what others think above the item in question and weather to take the time to down it. I dont wanna have to scroll through 30pages of exactly what one person wants to do to another persons mother >.< its just not nessacary.

maybe i’m wrong but i think those results aren’t true, in the first days “young adult” was clearly winning, then out of the blue the votes for “adult” start increasing very fast, maybe there were people voting more than once, since you just have to delete the cookie and vote again, it’s even easier to make a script or extension that deletes the cookie and votes automatically… i don’t know, i just got the feeling the results were forged… but i don’t really care about them, so…
Since the poll shows really quite a few under age people I think it’s obvious some kind of moderation is needed.

Where are the good movies? Where did they go? All we got today was Top Gear, a Womans Orgasm, Disney Christmas Songs, The Deviants (WTF?), a GOW update, some apps, A 50 cent CD, the other is good but not the good quality version, a really crappy video game, and The Armstrong And Miller Show.

btw.. u kno how most teens pirate… well im a teen and in my experience… most ppl r tooo dumb… i mean some know limewire and evn fewer know torrents… and only 5% of those know how to use it properly… i started pirating.. like 4 – 5 years ago… when the scene was quite and you’d be happy with a shaky cam of the latest movie (not like today where its DVDSCR or nothin…) and though more people have been exposed, i think it would be the older generations that can actually understand the phenom of filesharing, basically because at first it is quite confusing and most people these days want to be spoon fed.
now you dont have to agree with me, but in the last 5 years ive moved countries 2ce and saw the same thing, maybe its because alot of the kids prefer hanging out with girls and trying too hard to get some rather than finding out what makes their pc’s tick and what the internet has to offer. {thats my theory on Youtube as well, since its a easy site where all you do is search most kids love “youtubing” cuz its not complicated}.

the main reason they post the shows is because they want YOU the user to keep comming back, the scene is sometimes very slow [ie no releases] and if they just stopped posting stuff then you’d visit less, therefore they’ll lose users….
also.. some people actualli like them..[me sadly not being one of them]

Just a point of contention guys. Piracy is completely different from file sharing. Piracy is making profit out of the files that you download for free. File sharing isn’t.

The adult category has 4 times the age range than that of young adult category, yet has less than double the votes. Young adult has the greater amount of votes per age, therefore making it the most active age group….
