    Has anyone ever used this type of software online? Does it actually work? Is it ever detected and you get the boot from the site? If so, what site does it work with…ect…

    I used it among others. This type of SW is not banned on any poker site. And yepp, it works (didnt try this concrete release). Look for more info on pokertracker.com.
    What bothers me is it states it says beta. The last beta was released s/t like a year ago. Why crack the beta, why not the commercial rls?

    I've used poker tracker 2 and holdem manager. This type of program is most useful for cash games. A lot of professionals use this kind of software to keep a database of the people they play against. It's not as useful at the smallest or highest stakes. You won't get booted from the site for using it. I know it works with full tilt and poker stars. Not sure about the other sites.

    Does anyone know some good software that tells you what to do in a game ie a odds calculator that will say "raise" or "Fold" ect.

    PokerTracker is the best. It IS a must. It's nearly impossible to win something without it. You also need a good database, custom stats and knowing what they really mean.

    Auyx : Of course not, no program can do that. It couldn't work.

    I used this program religiously for a couple years and couldn't have done as well as I did without it. It's a great tool to improve your game if you can study it and use the info properly.

    Auyx – you should check out a program called "Calculatem Pro"
    That program is great! I used to use it, but my license expired and i never renewed it…

    It calculates pot odds, hand rank percentages, odds of drawing out on turn or river, also lets you know if you should call, fold, raise, etc… you can adjust how "tight" or "loose" ya want it to suggest for your play style.

    Do you realise there is a 60 day trial version that you can
    download from the official site?

    Great post, thanks!

    The Beta version has the latest features where as the other numbered version is the last "stable" release. Everyone uses the Betas, so nothing to worry about.

    This software competes with HEM (Hold'em Manager). I think maybe HEM is a little bit better but not by much. PT3 sure looks better than HEM. But HEM has a few extra stats etc than PT3.

    Good to see this getting released anyway.

    Call me naive or skeptical, or whatever, but I'd really like to know if anyone has ever won any money (and received a check that cleared) from any online gambling site. It seems to me that it would be way too easy for the site operators to key in hands that would beat your hand whenever they wanted to. After all, they can "see" what your cards are!

    You are skeptical. There are tens if not hundreds of thousands of people including myself who make a very good living off online poker. I get wire transfers within a few days to my bank accounts, and never had any problems

    Online casinos are one thing, you are playing against the house and the odds are never in your favor, Poker is different, you are playing against other people. Of course they could still rig it and play against you, but it is a big risk for them, they make so much money from the rake (millions a day at the biggest sites).

    There was recently a case of an insider and Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet who could see peoples cards, but he won so much that people with programs like this analysed the data and discovered he was cheating, and the site suffered a lot of business because of it, despite issuing 20 million in refunds.

    On the the program – As has been said this or Holdem Manager is essential if you are serious about online poker In my opinion. But if you are you should buy it, pirated version of this software are a prime target for trojans so people can see your cards / and or get your poker site passwords and clean you out.

    It is one of the only bits of software I have ever paid for :)

    I personally never had any problems either, but my GF lost her entire roll when a site closed down, so I would advice to steer clear from small sites and stick to the major ones.
    I guess some smaller Euro sites are good too, as long as they're part of a larger network, like ongame, boss media etc.

    Also, if you live in the US it might be a bit more difficult because even though playing poker online is perfectly legal, federal law prohibits banking institutions from making transactions with gambling sites. But I guess there are ways around it.
