Planet Terror UNRATED DVDRip XviD-NeDiVx

Here’s the other and what I think is the better part of Grindhouse Planet Terror. This release comes courtesy of group NeDiVx (who have been releasing quite a lot lately) in DVDRip quality. The quality is great since it’s a DVDRip so nothing else to say here. The movie itself (Planet Terror) is a great movie that deserves DVDRip quality, it’s an action, shooting and gore filled film that I think all action movie enthusiasts or anyone who wants to see a great film will enjoy. Unless you want this in x264 format (HD) you might as well get this and if you enjoy it buy the DVD when it’s released. Downalod and Enjoy :)

Plot: Maverick filmmaker Robert Rodriguez details the violent struggle between a ravenous army of zombie-like humanoids who have taken control of the planet and the remaining survivors who refuse to go down without a fight in this nonstop action-horror hybrid originally released as part of Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s ambitious Grindhouse double bill. A dangerous government experiment has unleashed an abominable contamination that turns normal people into murderous mutants. Now, as an infinitely multiplying horde of frenzied psychotics flood the Texas plains, a dangerous outlaw named Wray (Freddy Rodriguez), a sexy stripper named Cherry (Rose McGowan), an unscrupulous smuggler named Abby (Naveen Andrews), and the curiously incapacitated Dr. Dakota Block (Marley Shelton) must try and make their way to the helicopter that could provide their only means of escaping to a place untouched by this nightmarish scourge that threatens to wipe out all of humankind. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Planet Terror is much better and actually far superior to
Death Proof!
Rodriguez does a better job in translating the campy seventies movies than Tarantino did!
From the moment this movie begins it gets messy and bloody!
The whole movie is filled with gore, action and humor!
Excellent movie!

I think they are both shit. Its more typical lets watch it because critics think its old school classic. Bollox, its just more over hyped crap.
Have we gone so far down the line that we have to over hype shit, just because the director is so now, it has to be good, and if you dont like it you are not with it…

And as for Deathproof, what a load of shit that was….fs

Its crap pure and simple. Just my opinion, but Im right and you know it…

“Stereo in 2007 is just… hm old fashioned.. kind of.”

Don’t enter the audio realm, it’s obvious that it’s not your field. Stereo for movies may be old fashion, but to call stereo in general old fashion is as true as stating that Bush isn’t an idiot.

Movies play just a small role in the audio industry. Stereo is king of the audio realm; it will always be.

Surround is ONLY for movies, stereo rules the rest.

PS: Logitech z5500 – top of the line for computer audio, sounds like pure crap compared to the B&W 602 s2 speakers.

September 29th, 2007 | 17:38

Hey guys when this movie was released in theaters it was a double feature with Death Proof right? (touted as Grindhouse) And in the intermission of both they showed some fake ads with funny products or just weird commercials.

I wanna know if anybody knows where to find this ads, ’cause I want to make the DVD with the 2 movies and the ads section in the middle.

Thanks in advance.

52. devious
September 29th, 2007 | 17:40

@53 The missing reel thing will have been an artifact, along with the fake scratches, fake reel changes, fake projector jitter, fake debris on the celluloid and all the other digitally introduced artifacts that were purposely added to this movie (and Death Proof) to simulate the cinema-going experience of the 60’s and 70’s. Oh, and as I mentioned above, this rip doesn’t look like it’s the complete widescreen edition. Ya makes yer choice, ya takes yer chance ;-)

53. Steve
September 29th, 2007 | 17:42

Pan & Scan is useless. It’s a product of how broadcast companies got around stretching a movie screen to fit in a TV screen. First was to compact the screen width while keeping the height. Then Pan & Scan which left you losing some of the movie based on the recut director’s whims. Then finally letterbox.

This should be a 2cd movie like the other. I happy with 1 cd per movie while some idiots seem to rip movies to 800 megs for some stupid reason. Why? I have no bloody idea because I usually watch it and then delete it.

54. fuck the scene
September 29th, 2007 | 17:46

yeah, im acutally waiting to see the full whole thing. is going to be released on dvd and hd dvd as a complete set with no break between the movies including the fake trailers, just as it was in the cinema, but of course with all deleted scenes intact. Death proof was great, Planet Terror strange, but also good.

If the scene was really that great, they’d have put this on here by now!!!

So I understand a 2 CD re-encode is on its way?
can’t wait for it… I don’t get it why the Grindhouse flicks got such a shit cinema distribution, at least in europe. In UK Death Proof was only screened by a smaller cinames and Planet Terror is not even out yet! Ahoi! and thanks to my sea-faring friends, is all I can say…

@Poncho- I didn’t know about the ads between the ciname double-bill! would love to see these somewhere…

The fake trailers can still be found on youtube.

The movies were called:
“Don’t”
“Werewolf Women Of The SS”
“Thanksgiving”
“Machete”

Also there was a competition to make a fake grindhouse trailer of your own, some of the entries can be found there as well, including the winner “Hobo With A Shotgun”.

Uh, you are aware that axxo’s releases are just shitty 1CD reencodes of proper scene releases, right? He is an utter disgrace to the movie scene, and I hope he gets busted (as he is practically guaranteed to be eventually, considering that he doesn’t exactly try to hide himself, releasing all his shit on BT and whatnot).

@ Poncho:
Download this TS release of the theatrical version of Grindhouse:

Just watched the sample. The quality is terrific, definitely watchable, worth the download if you just want to watch the movie. But as already mentioned, it is cropped in an odd way, not quite Pan and Scan, but definitely not 2.35 to 1 aspect like it was shown in theaters. Bottom line, if you just want to watch the movie, this is worth the download. But if you are a discriminate collector that likes perfection, wait for the aXXo release.

72. devious

@72… Well, that confirms that the video is cropped from 2.35:1 to 1.77. That’s heresy! Thanks, but I’ll wait for the widescreen edition – you know, the one that the director actually intended us to see ;-)

“dude, AC3 is nevar great audio. It’s a lossy ass codec, man.”
And you must be death then if you think MP3 is better.

anyways, this is NOT a DVDRip, this is a Super TC, because of the faded corners, distorted colors and scratch marks during the whole movie (as in cinema).
The picture is very bad quality for the size vs lenght of the movie, I’m out find a better copy.

Yes, this is a DVDRip. The faded corners, scratch marks and such are a part of the movie. Tarantino and Rodriguez made these movies as an homage to the Grindhouse movies of the 1970s. Those movies were usually very gritty and cheaply made, hence the distortions. The distortions you see in the movie are also a tribute to the Grindhouse movies of the 70s.

September 29th, 2007 | 20:56

Hey Fred… aXXo always does 1-CD (700MB) rips, occasionally 800MB or 900MB if the movie is longer. Fair enough, this appeals to a wide audience who just want to see the movie on a computer screen and who don’t give a damn about blocky video and feeble sound. aXXo is fine for movies up to 1hr40mns (more or less, but the amount of fast action scenes makes a big difference because the video codec can’t keep up), and as long as you don’t care too much about sound quality. 128kbps stereo would be the bare minimum that most people would expect in a DVD rip. aXXo’s trick is to wind this down, often to 112kbps, and even down to 80kbps in some cases, just to leave enough space for reasonable video. Again, if you’re in some godforsaken part of the world with lo-speed Internet, you’ll be thankful that aXXo is around.
For the rest of us, if we’re talking about a good movie that’s over 1hr50, and if there’s a lot of action scenes, and especially if we want AC3 6-channel sound (that’s 448kbps bitrate my friend – you need space for that), then you have to go to a 1400MB release. If you’re thinking you don’t need 6-channel sound ‘cos you’re watching on a computer that isn’t hooked up to a home cinema system, you’re at least getting powerful sound, if only in stereo – not the feeble twitter of a 80kbps audio effort from aXXo.
aXXo always screws up on video resolution as well. Look at his figures. The height and width in pixels pf the video should ideally be in numbers that are both divisible by 16. That’s to do with the way codecs work. Divisible by 8 can be acceptable, but 16 is still better. aXXo’s numbers are always way off. In addition, when you work out the aspect ratio (width divided by height) you should get very close to 1.85 or 2.35 (depending on the original source). Again aXXo always fouls up – it’s always slightly stretched.
Groups like DiAMOND, NeDiVx, BeStDivX, iMBT and other well-knowns never make this kind of mistake.
Look at aXXo’s rip of Surf’s Up… there’s a black bar down the right hand side. The guy is getting sloppy.
So there’s your answer buddy. Now, don’t get me wrong. I’ll agree that aXXo performs a great service for a lot of people. But you can’t say that his work is top quality in the same way that the scene releases are.
Just my opinion, of course ;-)

Thanks for the explanation, I’ve never seen the “Grindhouse” and never heard that someone would deliberately “damage” the original…
weird, but if its made that way and no better copy will ever be made, then I guess its watchable..

I an stunned that both these movies didn’t do well at the cinema and that here in the UK we were not given the chance to have them shown correctly.

The value of seeing two movies and ads.

Obviously it wasn’t explained and wasn’t built up for viewing as it should of been……a totally old idea of making something a bit wacky completely threw the most of America so its considered a failure – But thats true of so many now hailed as classic movies.

Not that these are Shawshank or Citizen Kane – but then they were not meant to be..just a bit of fun..for a change

Maybe one day when people get it – they can be shown again.

For now Im pleased to see the films as they were designed scratches and blips and all…..its an in joke to those that get it and great fun….those that dont get it or think there is something wrong with the projector or film or even the dvd rip is just hilarious to me. Again I think thats why they did it.

But hey some still don’t like those black bars at the top and bottom of movies and want to see the WHOLE film.

The thing is most of us see worse copies of movies that are supposed to be good whenever a cam copy gets online – and worse they are re cropped usually to miss even more of the film…cos now wide screen is SPECIAL regardless of wether its cutting off even more…cams like this are worse than the pan an scan versions

I like both these films they do what they say on the tin which is the main thing…..if it isnt your thing and you reckon its shit thats ok…the guys didn’t make them for you and you don’t have to like or get the point they were trying to make.

I like em cos they are a change from the usual cookie cutter fodder..

Now if only we can have all the trailers as an .avi file and watch the whole idea back to back at home as they were meant to be seen.

Thanks for the link guys

@ Xyu:
Heh, did you even see this movie? It is scratched and distorted INTENTIONALLY. It’s supposed to look like that.

@ fred:
Pretty much any actual scene dvdrip group is better than axxo.

Would I be correct to assume that this is not a comedy?

@ lee welton:
It’s not a comedy out-right, but it’s very, very silly and campy. It does not take itself seriously at all. It was made to be as humorous as it is action-packed and gory. It reminds me vaguely of Evil Dead, in that regard.

@ sinister:
This IS the extended version. There are about 20 minutes of various added scenes throughout the movie, but the missing reel is still missing. That “missing reel” remaining missing is key to some of the humor that takes place immediately after that part (such as the “If I’d known you were El Wray” bit, and the general sudden chaos that we are thrown into without knowing what the hell happened during that reel).

Besides, unlike Death Proof’s missing reel, Planet Terror’s missing reel was never actually filmed. It’s absence was scripted that way from the beginning.

Reverend: “Wow.. I see a few people that need to take their holier-than-thou attitudes and go play somewhere else.”

Especially when they have no clue what they are saying.

I’ve been on the internet for a while.
I haven’t seen many stupider people than one who thinks copying the AC3 audio off a DVD when ripping is going to be more lossy that compressing and converting it to a lesser quality. Let alone have 3 idiots agree with him.
