Planet Terror 2007 DVD5 720p HDTV x264-NBS

Another popular movie is available in HD, group NBS brings us HDTV rip of R. Rodriguez’s Planet Terror, in my opinion very disappointing part of Grindhouse. Quality of rip is very good, bitrate is very big so you can enjoy all action scenes in top quality (and this movie is full of them). Size of rip is reasonable 4.5 GB so it won’t take ages to download it via public tracker. As far as I know Grindhouse is not going to be released on HDDVD or BD, but they are some talks that maybe HD DVD version will be released in Germany next year, till then this is best rip you can get in terms of High Definition. Enjoy :)

Maverick filmmaker Robert Rodriguez details the violent struggle between a ravenous army of zombie-like humanoids who have taken control of the planet and the remaining survivors who refuse to go down without a fight in this nonstop action-horror hybrid originally released as part of Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s ambitious Grindhouse double bill. A dangerous government experiment has unleashed an abominable contamination that turns normal people into murderous mutants. Now, as an infinitely multiplying horde of frenzied psychotics flood the Texas plains, a dangerous outlaw named Wray (Freddy Rodriguez), a sexy stripper named Cherry (Rose McGowan), an unscrupulous smuggler named Abby (Naveen Andrews), and the curiously incapacitated Dr. Dakota Block (Marley Shelton) must try and make their way to the helicopter that could provide their only means of escaping to a place untouched by this nightmarish scourge that threatens to wipe out all of humankind.

Very weird movie..but many familiar faces (with strange parts)…

A friend of mine loves this movie and says it has it all…
But I feel it has some bizarre, disgusting and even idiotic (only dumb ppl in movies do) scenes. Just my opinion.

I’m sure this movie will suck in Hd just as much as it did on Regular dvd!

Not going to waste 4.5 gig on anything, except 6 movies at 750mb each.

If HD releases replace regular-sized releases, only the rich will be able to download, which seems a little counter-intuitive to me.

This movie rocked so much. Big thanks to NBS for releasing these HDTV rips of the Grindhouse flicks! I love reading the idiotic comments from people that didn’t “get” the movie. This site is always good for a laugh if nothing else.

Senator who does handle the german release of both Grindhouse movies is supporting BD instead of HD-DVD. The Death Proof BluRay is coming in January and PT is likely to follow in march.

to the majority of people who saw both grindhouse films, this film is not the dissapointing part, and for great reason in my opinion. people who don’t enjoy films like these just simply do not get it. it’s like people who hate wes anderson films. The Royal Tennenbaums for instance, if i find out someone that i’ve been dating doesn’t like wes anderson movies like the above mentioned, in all honesty i’d probably just have to say walk away and don’t look back honey. i would leave someone who didn’t like wes anderson films, because that tells me so much about that person already. they just DO NOT get it, and i can’t deal with that.

my 2 pence, I liked Grindhouse quite much, especially the scene where the guy smashed his car into 4 girls and 1 of them had her face taken off by a wheel (THAT was FUN!!!), but hated this movie (I could not wait till it finished, although I persuaded myself to watch till the end) BIG BIG time. Planet terror looks like an STV horror release by VOMiT. thats all I have to say :D

Nukem (6) said “If HD releases replace regular-sized releases, only the rich will be able to download, which seems a little counter-intuitive to me.”

That’s pretty funny. Am I the only one who sees the disconnect? Bonus points for “counter-intuitive”.

Finished downloading this. Love this film and give many thanks for NBS for releasing an HDRip of it. That being said, when this movie is eventually released on BluRay or HDDVD I hope they dial the added film grain effect down a notch. It’s downright overpowering in HD. I’ve seen HD encodes of films from the 60s and 70s and the film grain on those movies wasn’t anywhere as bad as what I see on these Grindhouse movies. They might have to do some special tweaking on the eventual HD disc release of these movies to strike a balance between distracting , overpowering film grain and viewability. Just a thought. I guess we’ll see.

  22. November 18th, 2007 | 20:36

Yes, but 21 they do that grain effect to make it seem as if the movie film was passed around through many drive-ins to give it a raw, aged feeling.

I was thinking about an HD version of this film, I have the DVDR and now I’ll be taking this one. Thanks NBS, for supporting P2P.

Isn’t a HD rip just that, a rip of a HDDVD or BluRay? :D
Assuming that, then HD and BD copies are out.

LOL, I’ve seen this in DVD rip, and I’m definitely not going to download this.
Tarantino’s balls melting and falling apart in HD don’t attract me at all :)

@27, have you watched Saw 4 yet? if you were one of the billion people in line for it, that explains everything. movies like saw, the grudge, the ring, etc. GARBAGE. at least planet terror did kind of put a twist on things, and a funny one at that. i’m sick of today’s so called horror films with the same dull plot and bad acting.

    November 20th, 2007 | 06:13

oh pleeease “heartcooksbrain” your opinion is just that, an opinion. Stop acting like these (death proof and planet terror) are some universal superfilms, they are just as bad as the movies you listed (which are crap too imo). If people don’t like these movies or “the royal tenenbaums” and you try to convince them your OPINION is the right one, you have some serious issues.

But hey, that’s just my OPINION ;)

    November 20th, 2007 | 17:48

yea, opinions are like pie holes

    Here’s myne :D
Planet Terror: modern movie, set to look like 80’s zombie movies. Not bad at all, i liked it, even though this Rodriguez guy sucked before, now he’s done a good one – for 2 hours of fun that is..
Death Proof: the fact that there’s no tits and ass, crimes, or shootouts is suppose to enrage you, until the moment when gratuitous violence ensues. I was not bored by those conversations btw, but (for the sake of the money factor) i do think Quentin should not have taken out the lap dance and the stalking scene, and should have shortened the movie by about 40+ minutes – in the theatrical version that is.
He didn’t. Maybe cuz he’s an independent, you know?

    peace

For those who downloaded this (and other HD releases) I have a question: The size of this download is reported at 4.45 GB… which is quite higher than a regular DVD-R at 4.37 GB…

When you unzip/unrar it, does it fit on a regular DVD? In other words, if I want to keep it, will a simple DVD be sufficient, or do I have to splurge for a dual-layer disc?
