Placebo – Battle for the Sun (2009)

Here is the newest album for British rock group Placebo.  I know these guys have a very hardcore fanbase, and a lot of people have been waiting very eagerly for this release.

2009 release, the sixth studio album from the British Alt-Rock trio. With a 13 year history that takes in five studio albums, 10 million album sales, breakdowns, clean ups and the dizzy swell of global success, Placebo return with their first album since the release of Meds in 2006. Battle For The Sun was recorded over three months by producer Dave Bottrill (chosen by the band largely because of his work with Tool) in his Toronto studio and mixed in London by Alan Moulder. Battle For The Sun is a startling, alive, vital and boundary-vaulting record that marks a whole new era for a band that were in need of a change.

  4. no more hotfile please

Why must you continue to use hotfile as a host, the speeds are simply terrible. I never get more than 100kb/s on the free download from their servers, yet earlier today i was downloading at over 3000kb/s (not a typo) from a FREE megaupload server.
Please move away from the terrible hotfile service…

ditto on #8's comment – I rarely have had a hotfile link actually complete a download lately, and when the download is broken, it can't be resumed (not for a free user anyway), so I have to start over again. I look for megaupload first, fastest and stable, then rapidshare, a little slower but stable.

    Thanks though for the music!

is it really such a problem to wait 20 minutes for one download instead of 5?

  9. June 2nd, 2009 | 20:23

Alright, I'd been informed that the link wasn't working, so I've updated it. I hope the new link works fine. It appeared to when I tested it, but I obviously didn't DL the whole file again.

why are no more netload links here???
they would be great –> netload has best service for free user IMO (short waiting time, high bandwidth)

    Yes, it's proto-indie-emo.

    I still like them though.

yeah, they're not ANY kind of Emo… sorry.

if you MUST put a label on them they are "Neo-Glam/Alternative" but that's just as silly as "proto-indie-emo." lmao.

2a2o is correct, the best label for them is "Placebo" since they really aren't like any other band out there.

koby, you may be emo, but if you think placebo is an emo band, you are not a placebo fan!
or, you just might not actually be emo and you don't know it yet ;)

    @13 Martin

What I am wondering… is why is hotfile being pushed so much now when before there were multiple mirrors for the files? Especially since it isn't very good as others keep saying.
I guess whatever, it is what it is… just doesn't make sense to me the way it's being used.

    Placebo, an emo band? lol..

@29 According to a response in another posting it has something to do with easy management of the files through FTP which the other hosts don't offer.

Other hosts usually get posted within minutes and Hotfile seems fast enough for me.

Anyway this is a release site not a warez forum ;-)

I swear to God, if Brian Molko (the lead singer) heard you describe Placebo as "emo," he's give you the queeniest b1tch-slap the world has ever known.

Not to pull a "you darn kids and your…", but jeeeezuz…go pick up some of the band's earlier work.

And to those of you who think this whole "emo" thing is bands like Fallout Boy and crap, go download some Capt. Jazz or Promise Ring. Those bands were the start of emo before there was even a word for it.
