Here we have a wonderful DVDRip everyone’s been waiting for. This time its by SPiRAL. I personally haven’t heard of this group before but what matters is the fact that they have managed to release a DVDRip of Pirates of the Caribbean At Worlds End a whole 2 months before the Retail release date. This is a release that everyone is sure to enjoy! By the way they got the runtime wrong in the nfo (not 268 mins its 168 mins)
In case you haven’t heard about the movie. Will Turner (Orlando Bloom), Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) are allied with Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) in a desperate quest to free Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) from his mind-bending trap in Davy Jones’ locker, while the terrifying ghost ship, The Flying Dutchman and Davy Jones, under the control of the East India Trading Company, wreaks havoc across the Seven Seas. Navigating through treachery, betrayal and wild waters, they must forge their way to exotic Singapore and confront the cunning Chinese Pirate Sao Feng (Chow Yun-Fat). Now headed beyond the very ends of the earth, each must ultimately choose a side in a final, titanic battle, as not only their lives and fortunes, but the entire future of the freedom-loving Pirate way, hangs in the balance.

Odds are good that the first torrent is fake, it was added 10 hours ago it says.
You won’t get an 2 Disc AC3 release, the reasons this release doesn’t have AC3 are legitimate, it would only ever be propered internally, and even then the picture quality would noticably suffer, you might aswell get an aXXo version

I wouldn’t bother waiting for a 2-CD release with AC3 6-channel sound. At 2h45mn, the video bitrate is 1045kbps with 128kbps mp3 audio. Around 1000kbps is about right for reasonable video in the case of an action movie like this. OK, they could have pushed the audio to 192kbps (leaving video at 981kbps) – that’s a question of personal preference.
With 448kbps 6-channel audio, available bitrate for video would plummet to 729kbps, with resulting blocky video.

I think there are many whose pcs are too slow for x264. I know mine is, so I’m glad for the old rules.
x264 isnt MPEG4-SP… so “new” rules won’t come out!
Besides, they make it XviD because most standard DVD players can play such encoded files and most ppl have such DVD players! They however can’t play H.264 content!
I think I’ll wait for a better release… from the screens it looks like it’s not done properly and since it isn’t a good movie, at least I should view it at better quality!
and yes rvs, most PC’s are value PC’s and they are slow but there won’t be a difference unless you’re playing HD H.264 content, so 720p or up.
I’m happy with xvid becouse of my connection tho. Norway is way slow building their new backend systems. Where i live we got like 16 MBits maximum.

For all guys wondering if its real or fake. Its real. And it has great video and audio quality. But it seems to me that it is slightly out of sync in the whole 2nd cd!! At least in my PC it is! The first one is fine but the second cd is obviously out of sync. If someone knows whether its nuked or no by now for this reason please post it asap.

Dammit! Mp3! I’ll just wait for a 3 CDs release (internal or whatever) with ac3 5.1. No way I’d watch it in mp3 only.
Plus, if the aspect ratio info is correct, it was done wrong. 672×272 is 2.47:1 instead of the expected figure in between 2.35:1 and 2.40:1. Actors will look a little fat, including the very beautiful Keira Knightley.
Meh, although I appreciate their efforts, I’ll wait for a 4.7 GB DVD version. I can’t do the big screen with audio coming out of my center speaker only LOL!

Wow! I wasn’t expecting a screener until the end of the month, but a DVD rip 2 weeks earlier. I’m impressed, kinda surprised it wasn’t by FLAiT, whatever, as long as it’s the movie!

Having same problem as others… audio is out of sync. Hate this 2CD crap. Anyone seen a DVD-R upload yet?

With VLC, Xvid used around 15% of cpu and x264 (not HD, 688 x 288) used around 95%, often peaking at 100. Video didn’t play smoothly and audio was out of sync. (Picture was great though).

Audio is out of sync, If you watch on vlc press ctrl + L repeat for six time of (Audio delay -300ms)will back in sync.

Yeah, you’re right about on thing… XviD vs H.264, but: x264 is an encoder and not a video codec/decoder. For decoding H.264 content try CoreAVC.

The audio doesn’t remain out of sync at a constant amount of ms, makes it harder to fix.

Why don’t they make a re-pack thats a 3cd rip with 5.1 ac3 audio?? that will sort out all problems(as long as its in sync).

Audio is a tiny bit out of synch, but what is worse, it’s cropped! The picture is too wide. Compare with other dvd rips of movies with the same aspect ratio 2,35:1. This one is cropped.

Get a clue people. If you want video/audio quality, aXXo is NOT the way to go. He “gets it right” because he just waits like a little fairy snake and steals…sorry re-encodes…the best version. If you know nothing about computers, media-settings and such he is good. However, I do. I don’t touch his rips anymore, scene is the quality way to go.

I just watched this movie and I didn’t notice any OutOfSyncs but I wasn’t watching all the time due some chatting in Rlslog’s IRC channel.
As for Axxo. Ever tried watching a Axxo-release on a screensize bigger than 800×600. Straight line become very pixelated and on even larger screensizes (1600×1200 and up) it becomes utter crap to watch. Axxo releases take me back in time by at least some 10 years.
If you want crap then go for Axxo and if you want some quality then download the scene releases.
And why do you want to hear 2.0 sound on a 5.1 sound system is beyond me.
xbmc reads the aspect ratio at 2.47 x 1. i dont see the AR listed on amazon but the other ones were 2.35×1 so this might get renuked for bad AR.

These NUKE wars are driving me crazy. Nuke this. Nuke that. Nuke a little more. Lately Ive been dl’ing the new rls”s and then I,Turn on the TV,pop the pop corn,Sit down, get comfortable,and before I can even hit the play button. BAM!! “NUKED” Its a f’in epidemic. I wish these groups would spend at least a few minutes to verify the rls. It is free, and for that reason I am grateful. Im gonna wait till some more light is shed onto this rls; before blowing what little rapidshare space I have left. Don’t know why but for some reason torrents from Asia usually seems faster. Is it because I heard they are faster connections and maybe because they are not afraid of getting caught by authorities, more people upload. Quite interesting.
This release (spiral) is absolutely NOT out of sync at all. It’s fine. Maybe the sample is ot of sync I didn’t watch it. But neither CD1 or CD2 is out of sync for me.

@pat: Well, it actually is. It’s very easy to spot. It’s not that much though and for people who for whatever reason have a problem with downloading, removing and downloading proper could probably watch it or just resync it themselves.
if you gonna watch it on VLC, its NOT out of sync..
When it goes out of sync, in VLC you can use Ctrl K or Ctrl L to either advance or delay the audio as required until it’s in sync.,

Yes there is a slight out of sync, but if you have downloaded it and cant be bothered downloading the fixed version, just use avi mux and use delay of -25 in first cd and – 40 in second, works fine for me.
