Pioneer DJS v1.003-RECOiL

If you are in DJ-ing business you probably know for Pioneer and their leading DJ (hardware) products such as CDJ-1000MK3, CDJ-800 (players), DJM-600, DJM-800 (mixers); just to name a few. And now, same manufacturer decided to enter into software DJ-ing too. Their baby is called Pioneer DJS. I’ve tried it personally, and must admit that i didn’t liked it that much as their hardware products. I’ll stick to my favorite one - NI’s Traktor 3. But it’s all on personal taste. So try it and judge it by yourself.

Description: Finally, DJs everywhere can use their PCs for something more than checking email. Pioneer’s new DJS Professional DJ Software gives PC users control of two virtual CDJ turntables, a DJM mixer and an EFX processor, complete with familiar features including cue/loop points, beat synchronization and more.

The DJS software combines the key elements of our professional digital CD decks and mixers with a host of innovative features including:

  • Auto mixing
  • Waveform display for indicating playing position and cue/loop points
  • BPM synchronisation and beat synchronisation
  • Eight effects including Delay, Echo, Auto Pan, Trans, Filter, Flanger, Reverb and Pitch Shifter
  • Fader start function for controlling the playback of two players (channel, fader and cross fader)
  • Create function for setting 4 points for cues or loops in a song

    @Shakeshead

    Yeah, DJs like Oakenfold, Tiesto, Van Dyk, et. al. are not real DJs. And since nearly every club in the world has a pioneer mixer then there are very few “real” DJs out there.

    exactly, “oakenfold, tiesto, van Dyk, et. al. are not real DJs”. I completely agree. commercial jizz, that’s all they are.

    Real DJ’s DO use pioneer, but so do no-talent losers like tiesto et. al.

    May 26th, 2008 | 18:44

    @21 - “no-talent losers like tiesto”

    So you are are in DJmag.com’s Top 100 DJ’s are you? Correct me if I’m wrong but Tiesto is number 2 in the world - where exactly are you in the Top 100?

    If Tiesto has no talent, then please post your website/music links so we can see just how much talent YOU seem to think you have and we can compare you against Tiesto.

    I’ve a good feeling:
    a) you won’t respond, and if you do;
    b) you’ll suck hardcore.

    May 26th, 2008 | 18:54

    I was using this at the end of 06 and beginning of 07 (@12- scene versions did exist, you probably weren’t looking hard enough!!) because Virtual DJ was skipping all the time. I do like the interface to a certain degree and massively prefer the SFX because I used to have a DJM-600, but when a new Virtual DJ was released and it worked properly for me, I decided that it was the better of the two. The thing I hated most was the way you had to import your music first into the library, which took ages and crashed a lot. If they’ve rectified that particular flaw, I may well start using both from now on…

  28. Pierre
    May 26th, 2008 | 20:10

    hmm, I need to make music to critique another? when did this happen?

    I don’t make music (but then again, neither does ANY dj - music PRODUCTION is the field of artists).

    I don’t need talent to recognize the lack of it in others (you know, just like any other critic - including those in your revered djmag.co.ck).

    Tiesto - cheezy trance listened to by 13 yr old girls the world over. Commercial junk for brainless kids. Maybe you like scooter too? :p

    my name is Pierre btw, not “@21″.

  29. austrALIEN
    May 26th, 2008 | 20:26

    @29/Pierre/who cares really - So DJ’s do not produce in YOUR world? Would you like me to rattle a list off of DJ/Producers??

    If you are comparing Scooter to Tiesto then you have a really warped view of EDM genres b/c Scooter is nothing like Tiesto.

    It’s obvious you have no clue about EDM as a whole genre and you’re just trolling, pretending to know what you are talking about. If you had a clue I would quite happily debate the topic, but as you don’t, I’ll pass.

    Pierre / @29 / other anal name…. I strongly disagree with you on the Tiesto front. I was at an all-nighter in Heineken Music Hall, NL last year. He played a 7 hour set perfectly - and it’s by far the best night i’ve ever experienced. There is no DJ in this world who could get my tub’o'lard ass to dance for 7 hours straight (and no drugs needed). For the record, there were absolutely no 13 year olds there. Was mostly dutch adults (all of which towered over me - the bastards). Can’t recommend enough going to see him live and hangin’ with the dutch people, all of which were friendly. As eBayers would say….. err… A++++++ Top DJ

    @36 - Considering Armin’s done a 9 hr set I reckon he could easily (like Tiesto) get me on the floor for 7-9 hrs. They both rock the floor like no other.

    Unless of course you are Pierre and you believe Scooter can can do better. :-D

  40. Pierre

    @…/…/who REALLY cares? well obviously you do to make such a deal of asking who cares.. DYS?

    EDM? is that like EBM? or IDM? or even TBM? Tiesto makes trance. I’ve no idea what your made up little EDM is - is it another term like “electronica”; crazy yanks and their fabricated umbrella terms that are meaningless.

    You can “rattle” off what you like - a DJ is exactly what the name implies. A producer is a producer. simple enough - I’m sure you can “rattle” a list off of someone who does both. I can give you a list of plumbers who are also sparks. What that has to do with the price of soup confuses me though..

    How can you NOT compare scooter to tiesto - one makes/plays bad/cheezy trance; especially loved by the UK’s children. The other makes/plays bad/cheezy “techno” (and no, I don’t consider them techno - sadly many do).

    Whats not to compare - commercial music for children/the mass-market in both cases. Not that commercial DJ/Producers can’t be good - look at Shy FX/T-Power.

    It’s not surprising that you also like armin van buuren though, yet more commercial fodder for idiots who like whatever movement is/was big. I bet you also love oakenfold. Oh dear, may as well listen to the backstreet boys and britney spears. I’ll continue listening to real music thanks, better go - bank holiday freeparty to get to, and no doubt you’ve got a commercial club you need to goto…

    JohnnyThunder wants to anal my name? oh-noes. Let me guess, you are british. And 14? did I insult you by saying 13? never mind dear. There was actually someone dutch there? Surprising, most I’ve met have disliked his music for a long time, but then I don’t really know many people into cheesy house and trance. The only trance worth a listen is goa/psy.

    finally to what - what do you mean you didn’t know that? 13yr old girls make up a large percentage of his fanbase. go sit on any park and listen to them listening to that junk on their tinny little mobilephones.

    EDM - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_dance_music

    Not knowing what it even stands for shows your level of understanding of the genre, thus your insufficiently backed up reasoning of how Tiesto can be compared to Scooter.

    You wrote a lot of words there Pierre but you lucked out big time by not having any quality understanding behind them unfortunately.

    well im a real dj, i’ll check this out if it has time code support but if not its garbage, just like serato, which is everywhere because there backed by big business, but if you do your research over the last year on most forums that are about dj’ing and not just a forum for a certain program everyone is switching to virtual dj/numark cue. ive dj’d all over philly, nyc, and now las vegas, been running virtual dj with time codes for a while, had serato, but serato is for people who like macs, its a stock car, for people who really dont know computers, virtual dj lets run such a custom setup, which i do, that couldnt be run on serato (2 timecoded tables, standard mixer, usb asio soundcard/mixer/midi controller, and a midi keyboard, x/y touchboard and yes both my latency and response time is quicker then serato). ive been wanting to try traktor cause i hear good things, but what i have is perfect and ive actually never met a dj who runs it. even the RZA says virtual dj’s the best.

  45. da truth
    May 26th, 2008 | 22:20

    if a dj aint a turntablist, with an ability to manipulate music while it moves, than they suck. there is a major difference between production and dj’ing, ive done both, been in the studio with alot of famous people and i must say that dj’ing is harder, by far. production isnt on the fly, responding to crowd energy and emotion living 3 to 4 minutes at a time waiting, preparing, perfecting the next blend or scratch, its sittin home with a beer and some chronic, banging beats out on a keyboard, letting inspiration lead you.
