Get MKV2VOB. If you want to keep it HD do this.

Under the configuration tab:
Video Transcoding: Never
Output File Extension: VOB
Make sure Boost ACC Volume and Boost DTS Volume are selected.
Under File Splitting select 2GB.

This way you should have 3 .vob files. Put them on a disc or your PS3 Hard drive or an external hard drive and play them. The file will still be in HD with 5.1 audio. The reason for the splitting is because FAT32 hard drives won’t support more than 4gb and I’ve discovered that if the file is more than about 2.5GB it will either go out of sync or not play after that point.

get a program called tsMuxeR:

use it to create a m2ts file from the mkv. Just burn the files it creates to a dvd as data and put that in your ps3.
It only takes a few mins to do and keeps all the quality. converting it to dvd will reduce the quality.

Do what mike said and convert to avi. This is a way to do it if you have dvd burner and divx. Before converting to avi, click on configuration and have the file split for DVD5, or if have dual layered you can just leave it for the most part. Then, open divx player, put a blank dvd in driver and drag avi file into the burn part of divx. Click burn and stick in ps3 and play. It will say corrupt data but it will play perfect.

Download software called mkv2vob, but choose the option to convert the MKV to an Avi.

Takes about 10minutes, then use a media server or file server to transfer to PS3. I use PS3Portal to transfer.

All of these are simple tools to find, download and use, in fat I’ve just got my 10yr old cousin to start doin his own sh1t. If the above still has you baffled, then dont bother at all.

Harsh but there’s only so much ppl can tell you before they are actually DOING it FOR you.
